We can't kill sex offenders. But the criteria for capital punishment is a bit vague. Kill 3 people? Life in prison. Kill one cop? Death row for you sir/ma'am.

If we're going to let the state kill people, we need to come up with a clear-cut definition of what constitutes a death-sentence worthy crime.

Sex offenders...I don't really know what to do with them. It's been proven time and time again that they can't be reformed.

I don't really care one way or the other. Obviously it doesn't deter anyone from committing crimes for which the death penalty is an option.

My argument is that if it's going to be on the books, to make it consistent, and make it quick. Keeping people on death row for 10, 15 years is cruel and unusual punishment in and of itself.

We really need prison reform. The current way of doing things just isn't working. The jails are overcrowded and underfunded. The employees are underpaid and overworked. The offenders that are let out early keep coming back.

I just don't know.

Maybe the phrasing "making them better criminals" is a bit off.

If you take someone who's had a possession charge or some type of manslaughter and send them to prison with hardcore criminals, certainly they're going to have to change to adapt. If any reform were possible, it would probably get thrown out the window.

I’ve read like 5 different articles the past few weeks of Black ppl losing their jobs because mobs of white people panicking about them pushing wokeness. The president of TAMU has to resign for hiring a black person.

Gop leaders rejoice at this. This combined with the Supreme Court ruling undermining protected classes, and the ruling undermining affirmative action seems like it will create a cap on how high a high achieving African American can get promoted

I’m not convinced that the average white person not actively rooting for this outcome but still tacitly tolerating it isn’t just clearing the path for vicious racists like Stephen miller to push it further.
