I draw my inspiration from peter pan. Each year I try to act a little more irresponsible. Its going to be tough to beat 2013. We're not getting younger so lets get drunker.

Last nite was bad. Ton of sugar rum drinks, fireball shots , etc. Not sure if that pussy I ate had carbs but everything else did. Even worse I found the remains of a hot dog and bbq chips binge at 4 AM before I went home.

To start the day off I ran /walk 3 miles to retrieve my car. Its hot as dick dont take yohimbine while drunk and running I felt like straight nutsac.

Now im going to all you can eat steakhouse. Yum. RIP GIRLFRIEND

You dont have to I already announced hes lying to himself and gave him advice on how to fix it.

I can squat 350 lbs if you consider taking the bar off the rack and setting it back down a "squat"

If jerking off on a sleeping girls back counted as fucking her wed all have "fucked" 100 girls.

But there are rules. You have to get at least six strokes and shes got to be at least a 6.

On pull ups you need to go mostly straight up and down and get full range of motion.

This isnt 'Nam, we have rules

This is what a standard chin up would look like:

Pull up is keeping the palms away, pronated.

Why is it hard to believe someone can do 27 pull-ups in a row? Is it because none of you can?

MattJMM2 can do 27 if he's only getting his first chin over the bar.

But yes, your assessment seems correct. GymJones300Article.txt / ExcuseMakers.jpg / SSDD.exe

Because hes fucking 210 lbs.

If he was 5'7 165 lbs and 9% bodyfat I might believe him.

You and matt are probably the most lean guys with muscle in this thread. How many can you do?

And dont even start with that kipping bullshit

I rarely kip, unless its a competition and its allowed. The last time i tested strict pull-ups for reps (6 months ago?) was around 21. Currently I do weighted or strict chest-to-bar in training.

^there you go. A guy with I would assume 10 years lifting experience and a lean, muscular physique and he cant do 27. Though I bet he could if he trained specifically for it for a month or so.

Let me explain how a pullup works.

Its a bodyweight exercise. Incredibly strong powerlifters who weigh 300 lbs might not be able to do 27 pullups because they weigh too fucking much.

a guy with an average amount of muscle would need to be short and void of much body fat to accomplish this. Not in the 25-28% bodyfat range

A perfect score on the Marine Corps Physical Fitness Test requires 20 pull-ups.

We're talking about 35% more than that. It's nonsense.

He said he could do ten when he started, and 27 now. I'd be seriously surprised if he could do 10 legit pull-ups even now. There is simply too much body fat.

Do pull-ups with a resistance band you'll be doing 20+ in no time.

27 pull ups is an elite level amount. I'd say about 90-99% of people can't do that.

Right now I can do like 8 pullups or 10-12 chinups though I wouldn't say my form is perfect and certainly not on the last few reps when im struggling. At ~165 lbs and ~16-17% bodyfat.

Every lb of fat is like an anchor. When I lost 20 lbs it was crazy what a difference it made.

90% of Americans cant do 3 pullups.

What the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you little bitch? I’ll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Navy Seals, and I’ve been involved in numerous secret raids on Al-Quaeda, and I have over 300 confirmed kills. I am trained in gorilla warfare and I’m the top sniper in the entire US armed forces. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe you the fuck out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over the Internet? Think again, fucker. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of spies across the USA and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You’re fucking dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that’s just with my bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the United States Marine Corps and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the continent, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little “clever” comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. But you couldn’t, you didn’t, and now you’re paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will shit fury all over you and you will drown in it.

TWW Chin Up Challenge... 2 weeks to prepare. All reps must have the jaw line pass above bar at top, elbow fully extended at bottom.

I don't know, I find them to be about the same level of difficulty. Also, they allow your wrists to rotate naturally.

I'd like to participate in this TWW Chin-up Challenge. Just to be sure, we are talking about the forward kind (palms facing away from you) with arms completely straight every time you come down?

I used to be able to do 30+. But i'm a 155lb runner, so all I do is tons of running and core stuff (pushups/pullups/free weights). I could easily do 15-20 right now, so if I have a couple of weeks to prepare, I bet I can get to 25 and i'll provide video.

But yeah, 25 reps for a bigger guy, especially 200lb+, would be pretty damn impressive.

Rings are harder IMO, because you can't use leverage against it like you can with a fixed bar.

I'd say my chin ups are above average, but nothing special. If I train them for 2 weeks for this challenge, I should be able to get 20+ but I don't think I'll win. I've noticed my muscle fiber type seems to do very well with higher intensity and limit strength, rather than strength endurance.

If this comp was for max weight chin up (body weight + external load), I'd be very competitive. I've done ~4 chin ups with an extra 100lbs strapped around my waist.

Yeah ill believe bell rabbit given that hes an endurance athlete, weighs very little, and has posted some oretty high strength totals in the past.

I felt like crap all day yesterday with huge headache so I did a recarb just in case it was more than a hangover.

Did the SPF 2.0 this morning with short intervals, then 30 min walk, then long intervals. While fasted and on yohimbine. Hoping I didn't wear my legs out too much for lifting tomorrow. Normally I wouldn't do any cardio the day before but given my weekend malaise I felt like I needed to.

New weight after recarb 164.3 lbs, 19.5% id expect that bf to drop preciptously today and tomorrow as the glycogen refill causes water retention that fools those scales.

sorry to derail from pull ups but i've got a question...

i got an unsolicited critique of my squat by a trainer at my gym yesterday and he said my shoes were too 'soft' so it caused my knees to turn inward a bit -- he recommended 'harder' shoes (or said even no shoes would be better)

i told him that i didn't doubt that my form might be off but i didn't think my shoes were to blame (maybe i'm lifting too much weight, or just bad form in general, both totally possible)

i was wearing my running shoes which are new balance minimus zeros, i wear them on purpose for squat days as i figured the flat bottoms were better than my more traditional running shoe asics that i wear otherwise because i find myself tilting forward a bit in those with the cushioned heel

any advice regarding this? is it possible my 'soft' new balances are causing problems with my form? i'm fine with squatting in my asics instead but i just didn't understand...

The obvious solution is to stop squatting altogether, and only do pull-ups from now on.

I had a personal trainer several years ago who told me essentially the same thing. He had me squatting without shoes and did the same thing with the leg press.

i feel like you should be able to track your knees correctly regardless of the type of shoe you are wearing.

Soft soled shoes may work against your power output on heavy squats but i dont think it would have that much to do with making your knees go inward.

I can knock out about 15 reps with a wide grip, and I think I outweigh you by 100 pounds. With that being said, I don't straighten my arms completely at the bottom, because that's just taking tension off the muscle and putting it on the joint.

^ I don't doubt that, your stats dominate TWW. An argument can be made that your 100+lbs of more mass is all functional, making it easy for you to get more pull ups.

I generally do chin ups only because it works your biceps more.

Regarding shoes and squatting... Running shoes will pitch your weight forward at the bottom of the squat, which is the last thing you want happening. It will also dampen power output because the soles are squishy. Although, the NB minimus seem fine for squatting.

If your knees are caving in, it's either weak glutes or poor ankle mobility.

I bought my Vibram Fivefingers exclusively for squatting and doing lunges. From there, they became a part of my everyday workout attire because I liked them so much.

Chin Up / Pull Up differential is usually pretty close. That's why i tend to use them interchangeably, even though they are different movements.

Again, IMO, chin ups are superior because you use more muscle mass. Meaning you get more of a muscle and strength stimulus. An argument could be made a pull up is more functional, since in a real world scenario, you are more likely to have to pronate your grip to grab something.

Rule Addendum, you can do chin ups or pull ups... Competitors choice.

6 months, 120 lbs.

He's 16, supposedly http://www.reddit.com/r/pics/comments/1e5sqs/looking_for_some_motivation_my_brother_lost_120/

It's super easy when you're young and growing. Try losing weight at 30 when you're done growing and have a wife, a kid, one on the wauy and the only time you can get to the gym is between 5:3- and 8.

Dat shoulder to waist ratio...Please lift bro. Please.

I've been obese, I've lost a ton of weight and been skinny fat, and I've been where I'm at now. Losing that kind of weight is more of a mental barrier; you have to decide that you're ready to make a change. Once you commit to sticking to a diet and controlling your consumption, you consistently lose 2-3 lbs a week.
