Yeah, it does look pretty bad. But its supposed to hold more to the book than the Wilder version did, so maybe Burton will be able to pull it off, no matter how bad the first looks appear to be.

No way, bro. The narrative was confused. He couldn't decide whether he wanted a plot driven tale of adventure, or a character driven story about reuniting a father and son. Trying to do both he left the characters under developed and the entire story just feeling meshed together.

Really, his whole problem is that he's on this "whimsical" kick. He's trying to be some twisted peter pan or some stupid shit, but he's too pretentious to do it correctly. I'd say that ever since he claimed he "discovered the art of story telling" his films have stunk.
