Yeah the falcons have dramatically increased their revenue with Vick... although there are two differences

1) Vick is a QB which is obviously more marketable than an RB.... LDTomlinson has been pretty amazing the past few years but he isnt even worth as much in exposure/merchandise as an above average QB like Roethlisberger...

2) Vick instantly turned the lowly Falcons into a winner. Bush's mere presence likely wouldnt be enough to turn the Texans into a winner

Yeah, you are right with the RB not being as marketable as a QB, but Bush is still 10x more marketable than Mario.

^^^So what are you gonna say if Vick manhandles the Panthers this weekend? Will that be enough to shut you up, because he has pretty much personally owned them the past 4 years or so.

Seeing what Bush is doing for New Orleans (the city not the organization) already shows his marketability. Reggie Bush, to me, is one of the most marketable football figures right out of college in a LONG, LONG time..

nobody is saying Mario is more marketable than Bush

hell Peppers is one of the best defensive players in the league and he isnt as marketable as a rookie running back who's never played a single snap in a regular season game

but marketability doesnt win games, see the New England Patriots

The thing is... you just take Bush... please the fans

Football is a buisness. You give the consumer what they want. They wanted Bush.

If Bush turns out to be a bust oh well....

If Mario turns out to be a bust and Bush is as great as he looks like he'll be.... your franchise might take a decade to recover.

From a football standpoint, i dont have a problem with Mario over Bush.

From a franchise standpoint, I'd be fucking pissed if I was a fan.

There is a reason defensive players rarely go number 1. Think about that. And don't tell me "Oh well Mario is just that badass" Because he isn't.

^That pretty much sums it up. Lets be done with this.

To a degree, but not totally. Im not saying Mario is gonna be a bust, and I am not saying he isnt going to help his team, but Bush has WAY more upside than Mario did. And thats why they should have taken him. That franchise is pure shit with a small fanbase, so why do you wanna go piss off what few fans you have? If the Texans were a solid established team, I could understand taking Mario over Bush, but the Texans need all the help and exposure they can get, because with either of these players, they are still going to suck.

Vick isn't the only reason the Falcons have increased revenue though. He is certainly a big part of it, but Arthur Blank deserves a lot of credit. He came into Atlanta and lowered ticket prices, parking prices, food prices, etc. and began advertising the team and spending money on FAs which all helped ignite the fan base.

Holy fucking shit you are idiot McGuyer Mactuzzle or whatever the fuck you call yourself. Do you follow the Falcons at all? I am fan of all Atlanta sports and it is well known that much of the Falcons turnaround coincided with the change in ownership to Blank. Vick came in around the same time. Vick is not the sole reason the Falcons sell tickets now. If Blank hadn't lowered the overall costs of going to the games, the Falcons still wouldn't be selling out regardless of whether or not Vick was there.

You don't shit about anything. Why the fuck are you even on an NC State board fucking NC State hating loser.

That had pretty much nothing to do with it. You can't market a team or lower the prices of tickets and expect fans to come if you have nothing to show them. The fans came/come to see Vick, plain and simple. You are just kidding yourself if you don't think Vick is responsible for turning that franchise around. His first year shit didn't happen, and once Vick started playing, BOOM, shit blew up big time. Ticket prices don't sell out a fucking stadium you moron. Badass players and teams do. Atleast in Atlanta.....in football atleast. You can't really say that about the Braves because baseball is boring.

Once again, stop attempting to troll me man, its getting pathetic. So what, my mom paid for all my shit, who cares, like you would turn it down if yours did. My mom has money and buys me shit, so, get over it. And I could care less if you think the boat is ugly, you're never gonna see it or be on it, so I could give two shits. If you knew anything about wake boarding boats, you would realize its pretty badass. But I guess you spend too much time gaying it up with your fucking cat to be interested in things like that.

Oh, she also just paid for my condo I moved into, so go ahead and troll me on that too since you would probably think its ugly too

Oh, and lets not forget the most important part, I have a boat....and you don't.

You know how i know your gay?
You talked about Vanity Fair in anarticle about football.

But seriously, you have to know what your talking about before you make statements like this. Look at the teams that have won the past several Superbowls and you'll notice a trend: Defence wins Championships. I think it's too early to come to any conclusions on this but let me tell you why the texans made the right choice.

1. Mario will be able to make an immediate impact rushing the passer at defensive end while Reggie Bush will have to struggle against three of the NFL's best defenses in his division.

2. The Texans followed through with their defensive draft strategy by drafting a run stopping line backer, Demeco Ryans from Alabama, in the second round, building a solid defensive foundation.

3. The Texans were the second to worst Defense in the NFL last year.

4. Reggie Bush wasn't even the best running back at USC, Lindell White is the prototypical NFL back who can carry the ball 20 times a game. At 6'0, 203 Bush will be a pass recieving back.

5. Even if the Texans had drafted Reggie Bush, he would not have had the one thing a running back can not be successfull in the NFL without: AN OFFENSIVE LINE!

Mario Williams was the right pick for what the Texans are trying to do down the road: win a championship. New Orleans bought into the Reggie Bush hype like everyone else. The fact of the matter is that Reggie Bushe's ceiling could be incredibly low, so comparing this to Bowie over Jordan is completely over the top. Welcome to reality.

Too bad pretty much everyone involved in sports, gets paid to write about sports, and is on TV talking about sports thinks you are wrong. Bet hey, as long as you think you are right, thats all that matters. And show me where the fuck I quoted Vanity Fair

^^Wow it took you like 4 years but you finally won. Remember that time Vick didn't play the entire year but like the last 4 games, and came back and completely OWNED the Panthers...again. That was great.

^^^ Right now, for what the teams got:

TEXANS:
Help in the trenches (OL & DL help)
A starter in the backfield

vs. SAINTS:
A part time RB
A 6th S, DE, WR

I'd definitely say the Texans did better. The Saints moved down or out of three rounds; each time, someone picked up help at positions they needed & left the Saints shitting their pants and drafting a position they didn't need.

Screw hype, marketability, and all that extracurricular shit. The Texans got better as a football team while the Saints got worse.

Hey, buddy, Mactuzzle or whatever your name is, no need to get your panties all in a twist. I wasn't talking to you about the Vanity Fair thing, I was talking about the guy who wrote the article, and was just joking anyway. I think you got a great point though, because if you saw it on tv or read it in a magazine then it must be true. Those people get paid to write things like that and to be honest its all speculation anyway. All I gave you were a few facts of which there are plenty more. Here's one: Football is won and lost in the trenches no matter what they sey on ESPN. Are you just going to quote other people and cop-out with this "point of the thread," crap? Or do you have anything of your own to add?
Those other guys are right, we'll have to wait and see, but the Texans made the right choice based on what their trying to do now. But never mind me, I've only forgotten more about football than you'll ever know in your life.

You still have no reason why almost EVERY sports writer, EVERY sports person on TV, and pretty much anyone else besides NCSU fans think this was the right choice RIGHT NOW.

Quote :
"because if you saw it on tv or read it in a magazine then it must be true. "

So explain why all sports writers defend what I am saying, and why the guy who made the decision to draft Mario got FIRED before the season even started?????

haha, at this point, I dont even care, I have proven what I needed to, and all you guys can say is "OH YEAH! WELL MARIO IS GONNA BE BADASS!!" Well right now he isnt, right now Bush isn't either, but.... right now Bush is selling tickets for the Saints, right now Bush's jersey is selling like crazy, Bush is attracting attention to a team whose previous marketing ploy was "Hey we got hit by a hurricaine. Right now Bush was the correct pic because he helps the Texans, and makes them money. Mario and Bush could both be totally badass, but Bush is going to make them more money. No matter how good both are, the Texans are STILL GOING TO BLOW ASS FOR THE NEXT 5 YEARS. That being said, please explain to me how.....passing up on a player who will sell out games, sell jerseys, attract fan interest to a shit team who has no fans, and excite what small fan base they have and attract more fans is the WRONG choice to pick, and in turn, you pick a player that 99% of your FANS DO NOT WANT YOU TO PICK??? Tell me this, and I will shut up. And don't talk about how in the long run Mario is better, because there is no LONG run with the Texans, no matter who the picked, they are gonna suck ass. So atleast pick the player who will make you money during your long and difficult losing years.

PS...I have had a few beers, but I still stand by my shit. So if I DID misspell some shit, or word things wrong, oh well, deal with it.....
