EUPHALO is an easy scapegoat. While it's not likely to attract new users, you never know. People still voluntarily go to 4chan for some reason, so it's possible.

TWW is what's killing TWW. How long has it been since there was an owner who even gave half a shit and used the site on an occasional basis? I don't know that there has been since I signed up, ~4 years ago.

tww has been the most useful to me over the past few years than it ever was in college.

i've gotten insider help from a vet school employee when our family dog was dying, understanding/dealing with my grandma's rare form of kidney cancer, editing a song for my father-daughter dance, figuring out what was wrong with my tv, new employees...down to smaller stuff like outlook/exchange problems, hydroelectric power setups, dog advice, and many other countless little things.

this place is entertainment but it's a huge resource to me. i'll admit that i would be very upset if it disappeared. the euphalo & alias shit is annoying as hell, but you have to learn to look past it b/c we all know no one will crack down on it.

i don't know what it takes to keep this place up and running but if someone else is willing to do it i'd pitch in some $.

if anything, I think euphalo was spawned out of the inactivity that's happening in the boards

i mean, I enjoy posting some random stupid shit and participating in "euphalo" like topics, because this site can get pretty boring late at night. it makes me laugh. maybe i'm just one of those euphalo faggots, though.

i don't think we have too much to be concerned about with the site dying. If we're going to keep comparing now to "the way things used to be" we're just going to waste the present worrying about the past and hasten our own demise. That's pretty much constant across all cultures in regards to tradition and things that have come before.

i think we've got a pretty decent thing going. sure, it could be better, but in reality that responsibility falls to all of us.

Tdubbers of the past were people that you actually wouldn't mind hanging out with in some form. I went out and sat on some of the tables outside of the tunnel way back when the site was just getting popular and I didn't feel embarrased to tell my roommate I was going to hang out with a bunch of randoms (only knew Evroccck). For the most part, the people that were there that night (CrazyJ and his clique, plus other people that knew those people) have never been the type of people that get their jollies posting the same images over and over and over again and creating the worlds shittiest threads.

Secondly, and I've been harping on this for what seems like 3 years now, the girls that came to the site weren't berated from post number one, weren't overly hounded like some piece of meat, and just generally ran off the board by a bunch of dickless virgin faggots that don't know how to act around some pussy. I mean, I hate to be a dick about this, but some of the early female groupies to this place were busted as hell and they were treated like royalty. That, and this is speculation on my part, brought some of their friends to the place and we had a healthy female user base. Now, there are what, 5 active girl posters total? 10 tops?

Then, in some small part the rise of Facebook/myspace has probably taken away some of the people hanging around.


I really believe the site would thrive again with advertising and fair moderating where people are warned for being assbags and then promptly suspended when they don't comply.

let's fix this. some folks have already shown some interest in being social and interacting face-to-face through the tunnel painting. let's keep that going. let's throw some parties, meet up at ruckus and cookout, and have some more tunnel paintings during the semester.

then all that's left is to get the site to post faster. the oh shits are gone for me (knock on wood). school tool is inferior now that we have sites like pick-a-prof. the book exchange would be a good thing to fix, but most folks handle it in the classifieds thread and it works out.

if they get the site to post faster and we go out and put forth some effort to be social and advertise, i don't see why this place can't be revived.

I remember back in 2003-ish my advisor mentioned using the school tool on here to help pick a class for next semester, if he told that to all of his advisees that was some really good advertising. So, I think that a functional school tool would help draw in some undergrads


also, I wish we would get a Roger Goodell-type moderator who would use the ban hammer with no emotion. If there is a rule that post bombing isnt allowed, and you post bomb, you are suspended no questions asked. Once a precedence is in place not to fuck with the moderators I think people will take the site more seriously. Right now I see people get warned about stuff all the time, but the next minute people are pushing the limits as much as they can (i.e. the michael jackson threads). If you actually suspended some people and made an example out of them, I think the moderators would be taken seriously for a change.

I'm not calling anyone specifically out, just making an observation

school tool was the only thing i even used on this site for a long ass time. i remember coming back here at least 3 times to type up some reviews to help people out and f'in couldn't because it was all fucked up.

and agree about the rest. and add ppl need to be suspended fast for fucking with noobs to the point of running all of them off. i can't blame ppl for not wanting to stick around with all the stupid shit always say back to them. classifieds is fucking nearly useless because of it. make a rule that you can't give someone shit over their price or you're banned for a week.. people will cut that shit out fast

dude School Tool was probably the best resource I ever had in college. I'm a slacker, and cruising that thing hours each semester for registration gave me the chance to experience some of the easiest courses and some of the most rewarding professors. I'm glad it was still functional when I was an undergrad.

^^^^I'm just saying it really helped the activity of the site when a lot of the users did stuff together IRL, I wouldn't expect those same users now to still all be together years after graduation but there doesn't seem to be a new influx of student users with that kind of connection
