Or getting shit faced / black out and hanging out with your crowd that does drugs recreationally and hoping that a drug screen wont catch it. All the while having hopes to get a decent job when you have already stretched your budget / credit planning a trip that you appear to not be able to afford. It sounds like you have some priorities that need straightened out. As your income goes up so will your discretionary spending and you will be faced with so many more difficult decision now that you actually have $$$ to make decisions with.
In the meantime, if you get called in, you better fess up. I had one of the Nuisance Party Ordinance tickets on my background check when I got hired (which has now been dropped / expunged) and they were just looking for an honest answer. Sometimes its not what you did but how you tried to cover it up. They would much rather have someone who took a hit on a joint vs someone who lied about it in an interview and then failed a screen, and then subsequently lied about it when they were called in. Best of luck1/26/2008 5:00:24 PM |

Well the trip was already planned and paid for. Did I mention that even in this thread? Blacked out for the only time in 2008. Whoops. As for the fact that I smoked I won't do it again I am certain. However in this next month I can make close to 3G's working my 2 jobs. That is 3G's more than I made in the last 2 months which is why I am where I am today. I might be tired but if I can keep it up I will have my rent paid for through March, my car payment paid for through March and have a good 500 to spend on this trip. Oh and its because goodyear is one of the largest companies in the US that they are so strict I found out. Hope I can stay with them through 08!!! 1/29/2008 4:21:06 AM |

and an update after all this BS I got the run around for 10 days saying that my results were still pending, then he put me to "work" before the pending changes even went through. From there I was moved to 3-4 different places to "train" one day I didnt show because I had class and he knew this yet today said it wasnt going to work out but he'll still pay me for the days that I worked. I told him I am getting a lawyer and taking their asses to court. Should I even do that or what should I do? I mean I had a job offer I could have been working since the 18th of Jan instead I got the run around for freaking 2 weeks for this crap. What to do? 2/5/2008 2:17:51 AM |

every full time job i've had except one has had me do a drug test. i think employers of a certain size have to test, otherwise they're penalized by their insurers.

I'm not sure if its insurance rules or gov't regulations, but yea, they have to test a certain percentage of employees at most larger places. I think it was Jeep4x4 or something like that who talked about his work place testing him randomly a month or so ago so he might know more2/5/2008 1:29:39 PM |

I don't believe that at all.
Nobody would ever go through all the trouble to do all those tests and just shitcan you for an honest misunderstanding. There has to be more to the story. Drug tests are pretty expensive, and background checks can get really expensive depending on the lengths you take. If you were showing yourself to be a competant employee and had passed all the requesite tests, then this would have never ever happened. There is more to the story, whether you realize it or not.2/6/2008 1:15:59 AM |

Hair is very expensive to do relatively, so I doubt many do it. I think it's more of a one time thing. Companies that have more random testing (like FAA jobs almost always do urine since they are so frequent). Most of the jobs I've had don't do them, but some will do one urine test up front. There are actually quite a few very large companies that explicitly do not do them.2/6/2008 9:31:41 AM |

Not true, I work for NASA and I never had to take a drug test. They offer free full physicals (aside from just checking you out, they look at your blood, test your hearing, etc.) yearly, I'm sure they check your urine then but it isn't mandatory, only "encouraged."2/6/2008 9:32:14 AM |

HELLO DUDE. He really fired me because he said I never showed up for 2 shifts. I hadn't even given him my availability yet. I had never even worked for him yet. He sent me to 3 different stores to train. One time on a Friday I didn't go because I didn't think I had to. So when I didn't work on Monday he was like it took you 10 hours to talk to me, we need to part ways. Then basically we had it out over the telephone for the next 30 minutes basically talking mad junk to each other. He said he will pay me for the 2-3 days I actually worked. How do I get him on that? thanks 2/6/2008 4:41:10 PM |

You didn't call him beforehand to say you had class on Fridays? I mean, it seems like if you had been coming in to any location for the job for the last couple days, it would seem weird if you just didn't come the next day without telling them anything. 2/7/2008 12:39:03 AM |

Welcome to North Carolina, a right-to-work state (I think that is the term).
It basically means the employer can fire you at any time and they don't need a reason. On the other hand, you can also quit at any time regardless of reason (looks bad for references though).
There are exceptions with the whistle blower policy, though. 2/11/2008 2:08:48 PM |

LETS SEE if i got this right...
they go through the whole interview process, spending time and money....
they pay for extensive background checks, medical tests, credit checks, and the most expensive drug test possible.
and you PASSED all of them...
and yet, after three or four days, they tell you "its not going to work out", ostensibly because of some scheduling confusion, but that they'll pay for the days you worked.
....
of course, the guy must be an asshole.
because it couldn't POSSIBLY be that youre just an immature DOUCHEBAG, and they guy determined you were a liability to his team.
and then you tell him youre gonna "sue his ass" ??? LOL. damn, man. you're so fucking baller.
i can't imagine why anyone wouldnt want you to work for them.
