You dont have down sydrome or cancer and you're not a parent with a sick child! Can you imagine having to raise a family on 7 bucks an hour? There are parents doing just that everyday. There are people who have lost loved ones, wives who have lost husbands, children and parents who have been murdered. It sounds to me like you have a pretty good life! " |

when i was six, this four year old kid from my church was blowing a balloon and ended up swallowing part of it when it popped. i didn't understand the medical explanation behind that, i just knew that he became completely paralyzed afterwards. i remember the few times that my parents and i would visit him and his family. his parents were always crying. their apartment smelled like sadness, which i suppose was simply the emanation of stale urine. i remember whenever i would talk to him, i'd grab his hand and say hello. he would start breathing hard, and i would see tears drop from his eyes. they were always closed.
it's silly to think or say that seeing him in this way should have made me happier, because i had full control of my physical faculties and he didn't. if i could take his place instead of him, i would. i've been around sadness my whole life. maybe i'm too sensitive, i don't know. it's a fucked up world, and the most depressing thing to me is that most times, there isn't anything anyone can do about it. except, maybe, show that you care. anyways, to bel-air.... 6/30/2009 12:55:45 AM |
