some were already mentioned and none of these is a deal breaker by itself but all are definitely red flags and would be a deal breaker if 3 or more are existent:took longer than 4 years to graduate undergradundergrad major was psychology or sociologynot in grad school and parents still pay any of her bills (probably related to the above)has more than one catyou've known her less than a month and you've see her cry > 2 timeshas no female friends "because all women are bitches"3 or more stuffed animals on her bedhas iphone, closet full of shoes, a variety of purses but no jobis a feministkeeps her car and house dirtytalks to her parents 4 or more times a weekdoes not understand the benefits of a 401k or IRAVotes straight ticketNever offers to drivegets really bitchy whenever she has anything to drink

^^^ yea all those lazy assholes that do an engineering degree with co-ops, study abroad, and/or internships making up excuses..[Edited on June 27, 2011 at 6:00 PM. Reason : ^ i think engaged is probably the main one for you. ]
6/27/2011 5:59:37 PM
Those are valid reasons to have taken longer than 4 years.A lot of single women here have religion as a deal breaker. While I could understand the intentional avoidance of overly religious persons. Total lack of religion is unlikely to be found, so good luck with that one.]
6/27/2011 7:26:32 PM
what does not finishing in 4 years show?Worse reason I have ever heard to not date a person.
6/27/2011 7:50:32 PM
to me, either a lack of drive, interest, ability or a combination of the three. programs are designed so that you can graduate in four years, its not hard at all. I did co-op one semester but then switched that into part time work over the summers. Even then, four years was completely do-able. I think the casual acceptance of the 5year 4year degree is a reflection of the low standards we set for ourselves and the willingness of people to make excuses for, rather than overcome, their failures.
6/27/2011 11:16:09 PM
I switched from an art major to a biochem major the second semester of my sophomore year. I had to start over from scratch b/c practically nothing transfered (shocker)so yea. i graduated in 5 years instead of 4. anyone who thinks less of me for that isn't really worth my time to begin with.haters gonna hate.
6/27/2011 11:27:53 PM
^^^and to you sir, not everyone lives in a utopian world where graduating in 4 years in possible. i get what you mean, but if you think everything is so cut and dry in life, maybe you should have spent more time in school learning about other people.

^i don't know if you paid attention, but I have a double major in two separate fields. Electrical Engineering and Economics. Actually, I also have a CpE but that is only two classes different than an EE, so I don't count it. While I didn't study abroad, I did take a semester off to do a Co-Op, which is essentially the same thing. Of course there are extenuating circumstances, such as family illness, cash restrictions and switching majors to something more prudent, but those situations are few and far between and do not apply to the majority of people who take longer than 4 years to graduate.
6/28/2011 9:18:47 AM
After reading this thread I have come to the conclusion that everyone on this board should be single.. so what gives?
6/28/2011 9:19:46 AM
6/28/2011 9:33:00 AM
atheists hang with atheists mainly though, no?
6/28/2011 9:35:58 AM
I just don't talk about it. Evangelical atheism is almost as annoying as evangelical levels of religiosity.
6/28/2011 9:37:51 AM
And religious people hang out mostly with religious people, right?^ its like seeing a mass of people adding 2 + 3 and getting 8. You just want to yell and scream at them that they're not doing it right. Where are they getting 3 extra numbers from? They're just making them up because that's what they've been told because if they don't, then they'll be punished. [Edited on June 28, 2011 at 9:41 AM. Reason : fs]
6/28/2011 9:38:39 AM
I am not religious at all. I, however, have no problem with people who are as long as they respect my beliefs. I've had girls make that a dealbreaker before as soon as they found out, which is fine because more than likely they were gonna try to shove it down my throat anyways.
6/28/2011 9:38:57 AM
I don't know. I don't talk religion or politics with friends.
6/28/2011 9:39:44 AM
That is the smartest thing, I wish everyone followed that rule. You do your thing, I'll do mine, lets not bother each other about that shit.
6/28/2011 9:40:30 AM
6/28/2011 9:43:12 AM
I refuse to talk about religion or politics at work, but that's not realistic in a relationship. People with Vastly different belief systems need to be able to discuss their differences or the relationship will fail.
6/28/2011 9:46:57 AM
discuss yes, but not attack the others opinion if different
