yes, because every member of the naacp, every black person in general, is ignorant enough to blindly follow obama.

http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/DC-Decoder/Decoder-Wire/2012/0711/Mitt-Romney-booed-at-NAACP.-Could-that-be-good-for-him

This article basically articulates what I presumed romney's strategy was the entire time.

The NAACP got played big time.

Romney responds to NAACP booing: 'If they want more stuff from the govt. tell them to go vote for the other guy'

Gotta love it when a plan comes together. Romney gets to go to the NAACP, tell them the business, get booed, then later call them in the national press, in so many words, welfare-queen mooches. I think every conservative across the nation has had a wet dream of this exact scenario at one point or another.

Sorry ScubaSteve I didn't mean it.

Recall that the black community is disproportionately unemployed, uninsured, have uninsured children under the age of 25, and exceptionally likely to suffer from pre-existing conditions like diabetes or heart disease. Given those factors, do you really not see how they might see more value in Obamacare than the rest of the general population?

Meanwhile planting the idea of a white vs black battle for the election in the casual racists' mind. This is Romneys way of pointing out that Obama is black, and he is white, more subtly than Hillary or McCain managed to do.

You literally always great conservatives calling the NAACP a racist organization, I wonder what anyone expected out of this? Were conservatives supposed to then respect the NAACP if they didn't bo o?

Yup, I don't think I've ever, ever heard a conservative mention the NAACP without immediately following it with a phrase like "race pimps" or some rant about how "they" can say "colored people" but "we" can't and that's why whites are the new slaves.

http://www.politicolnews.com/another-romney-friend-caught-in-fraud-barclay-bank-ceo-resigns/#ixzz20Q7JHhUJ

Romney’s Ties to Barclay Bank and it’s CEO Robert Diamond

Diamond also ducked out of a fundraiser for Romney’s upcoming European Tour under the scandal.

Quote: “Romney’s plan to hold a fundraiser in London this summer with Barclays CEO Robert Diamond was reported June 28 by the London Telegraph. The cost of the dinner seemed to shock the British paper, which noted that “the price of invitations dwarfs the amounts paid for such fund-raisers in British politics”. Huffington Post July 7, 2012 Guests of Romney will pay from $25,000 to $75,000 for a seat at the table.

Bob Diamond was to be the UK Co-Host of the affair and Barclay’s Bank was a big source of revenue for Mitt Romney, until the scandal broke. The Center of Responsive Politics claims that Barclay’s raised $235,000 for Mitt Romney’s campaign.

"Show up to the NAACP and talk down to them" is a fantasy for most Republicans, it's hardly a conspiracy theory to suggest that one, when invited to speak to the NAACP, would recognize the opportunity. Especially someone trying to bolster his 'conservative credentials'.

Or are you suggesting that Republicans, Romney included, actually expected positive results speaking to whom the party mostly regards as a group of racist black moochers who only vote for Obama because he's black?

"If they want more stuff from the govt. tell them to go vote for the other guy" says it all, I highly doubt he developed that opinion of the NAACP only after being booed.

yes, i believe he wanted to speak with them because they were a group of more than 10 people.

yes, i believe they wanted him to speak with them so they could boo.

also, in my opinion, democrats show up to the NAACP and talk down to them as well.

there are plenty of blacks that now despise obama. plenty could care less if hes black or not. ludicrous.

^^ So you think that a presidential candidate went to speak to a group, knowing he was going to be booed, simply because he wanted to speak to them. You don't think that maybe there was some sort of calculation in seeing an upside to him being booed, but rather he just enjoys speaking to groups of more than 10 so much that it doesn't matter if they boo him or not?

What better course of action for a GOP candidate who's struggling to establish his credentials to conservatives than to try to earn the approval of the NAACP. Makes perfect sense! I'm sure the LGBT Veterans Service Organization is next on his list.

Did you completely miss the point of my post? "Oh the horror" is neither an adequate nor sarcastic response...I present 2 options: 1) Romney goes and speaks at places no matter what just because there is a crowd and doesn't care how the crowd reacts or 2) he does take into account how the crowd reacts, and therefore knew what he was doing

Which of those 2 do you believe?

I hadn't seen this posted yet:

http://bo.st/Nj3CVz

Quote :
"Romney has said he left Bain in 1999 to lead the winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, ending his role in the company. But public Securities and Exchange Commission documents filed later by Bain Capital state he remained the firm's 'sole stockholder, chairman of the board, chief executive officer, and president.'

Also, a Massachusetts financial disclosure form Romney filed in 2003 states that he still owned 100 percent of Bain Capital in 2002. And Romney's state financial disclosure forms indicate he earned at least $100,000 as a Bain 'executive' in 2001 and 2002, separate from investment earnings."

I'm curious to know how exactly Mitt is running ads calling Obama a liar, when his own SEC filings clearly demonstrate the Obama camp isn't lying about the Bain stuff?

You're right.

But this seems particularly shameless though.

This isn't like "maybe Clinton DIDN'T actually inhale...?"

These are legal documents for a multimillion $$ company regarding their CEO.

Lying on filings to the SEC is really really bad. Although...

It's not a solid argument to say that he was managing the company because he owned 100% of it. Management and ownership are two completely different things. If anything, that makes the entire deal harder to prove, because you can't say if he was doing work for the firm if he owns it. It's just looking out for his own investment at that point.

That said, I think there was some particular statement where he said he was CEO, and another where he said he didn't have any role. That should sink his entire candidacy instantly if true. I'm sure the excuses will start pouring in anytime here.

I think Rubio would be great.

Gotta laugh at the NAACP blaming others for them booing. "The white man made us do it. He did it to be racist!!!!"

You want to boo, have at it. It is a legitimate thing to boo over, just fucking own it.

They were talking to Rice about her political aspirations and VP stuff last month on the cable talk circuit. Unless she's suddenly changed her mind I don't think it'll happen. She's imminently qualified and would lend a lot of foreign policy clout to the ticket.

I don't think Mitt believes he can win the black vote, but I think he does realize that he can't lose it as huge as McCain did (95%-5%) and win the election. If he can swing it to something like 80-20 it'll be a huge win for his campaign.
