I am a licensed concealed carry firearms instructor in Raleigh and an NCSU alumnus. My buddy called awhile ago to say that the Wake Co Sheriff's office had a line all along the 2nd floor for pistol permits and CCH applications.
I will give a discount to anyone at NSCU who wants the course. $85 per person with a minimum of 3, $75 with 4 up to 5 as that is the limit per class. We do it in one day. You must pass the written and demonstrate an ability to fire 30 rounds SAFELY from distances of 3,5,7 yards. I will provide a revolver in 38 special if you need a handgun. You provide a box of ammunition (if you can find it).
Contact me via- foxtrotrv4@yahoo.com, or a pm here but I am on the go quite often, so try the yahoo first. Or you can reply here.
Gung ho!

I sold my 500A a couple weeks ago for $200 with a handful of shells and an $8 case. It was fully polished with black grip and stock but still, $200 is a damn good deal on a good shotgun. Anything that reliably can provide the level or performance either in the woods or from a home defense standpoint that a regular Mossberg can is well worth a mere $200.
That being said, I want to move up to at least a Benelli, maybe even a Beretta for my next 12g.11/17/2008 11:16:59 PM |

^ ive probably already said it in here, but it bears repeating - the Beretta 390 12ga semi from Wal Mart is the best gun for the money right now. Multiple gun enthusiast forums have been over it again and again, and it continues to be a solid autoloader for as long as it's been in production. 11/18/2008 7:04:48 PM |

Cant go wrong with the Remington UMC 9mm bulk packs at Walmart. Like $48 for 250 rounds.
That's like $9.60/50rds.

the pawnshop of doom over at avent ferry has a saiga ak clone out in the glass case, and 2 sks's, one with scope and side-fold stock, both sks guns have the 30 rd removables on them. They redid the layout and allt eh guns are now where you can see them vrs locked up out of sight. 11/19/2008 6:53:36 PM |

kylekatern All American 3291 Posts user info edit post |
yes and no, no worse than any other place that sells guns, plus, as expected, 'assault rifle' lookes mean mad markups. The basic sks was in very good condition, was like 300, 600 for the tricked out one with scope. Few pistols, most new, some used, one used one was a nice condition browning .25 pocket pistol with its case. go in and look, msot pawn shops that cary guns haev a lot of churn stock wise. Exceptions are docs in Greenville and jims in Wilmington/Fayetteville. Docs is a great spot if you want collectibles or random older stuff, less so for deals on newer stuff. Unless you want a highpoint 45 auto pistol for like 189 new in box. 11/19/2008 8:46:23 PM |

For a good affordable one, I would look at Henderson Defense Industry's line of "certified" WASRs (guaranteed not to have canted sight bases or gas blocks, comes with G2 trigger group and is bore-sighted, among other things). These run from $410 - $499 and have a good reputation, at least among the guys at SigForum
For high-end, I would go for a fully converted Saiga from Henderson Defense, or one of the milled offerings from Arsenal. (these run in the neighborhood of $850)

Blazer is shitty ammo.....but at this point, grab what you can.
I bought Georgia arms 9mm for $10 per 50, .40 for $12 per 50. I bought all they had at the gun show. I also grabbed 500 rounds of .223 for $170 brass cased. But I cleaned many places out. 11/22/2008 6:52:37 PM |

for the price you paid, you might as well buy either Winchester white box, or the Remington UMC 250 round value packs. Either one would save you a few. And 'shitty' or now, after going on 3,000 rounds of WWB and blazer, i have NEVER had a misfire or other ammo issue, and it cycles my calico just fine. 11/22/2008 8:15:05 PM |

blazer is cleaner than WWB and UMC value pack.
while the others may have first rate bullets and cases, blazer uses better powder. trade off. 11/22/2008 10:04:33 PM |

Needle nosed pliers work fine for that. Just open the pliers up and stick one point in each slot on the nut.11/24/2008 10:13:59 PM |

This is more of a feeler than anything....
I have a AR-15 that I might be willing to part ways with. The lower is a LAR Grizzly lower with a RRA parts kit and RRA adjustable stock. The upper is a RRA A4 16" 1:9 upper. See pic below.
In order to let it go I would probably need something around the $1200 range or a trade and some cash. I would be interested in pistols or bolt guns.

I bought some .44 MAG from them at the show. Shot 24 rounds of it today. Filthy, dirty stuff. It looked as if I was shooting a black powder rifle with the 6 ft plume of brown smoke that flew out of the barrel every shot. On a good note the stuff seems just as accurate as everything else I have shot through it (Speer,Federal,Federal,Blazer). For $20 for 50 rounds I guess there had to be a catch. 12/1/2008 5:13:28 PM |
