I drink my coffee strong and I drink way too much of it to buy expensive shit.

Folgers Breakfast Blend is where its at for me.

^^I'm pretty much the same way. I buy the cheap stuff, and I don't mind it at all.

I've become cursed with a taste for good coffee over the years and have turned into too much of a snob. I drink single-origin coffee from http://www.49thparallelroasters.com/pages/coffee at home that I get from my favorite local shop http://sm.espressocielo.com/, which makes the best cappuccinos the world has ever known. But seriously, the Ethiopians from 49th Parallel are really freakin' good.

Why is it that when I drink a cup of Cup A Joe's coffee I smell like it for the rest of the day but that doesn't really happen with most other coffees? For the record I always drink it in-house and spend a couple hours in there. Yes It'll take me that long to finish a cup while I'm working. Sue me.

Seriously I'll walk into a room hours after leaving the coffee shop and someone across the way will say "did someone just bring coffee in here?"

^I mean, probably because their coffee is freshly roasted. The shop is very pungent from the coffee their store, the grinding, et cetera. I know what you mean... I smell like CupAJoe right now.

You spend a couple hours in a coffee shop and wonder why you smell like coffee afterwards????

Just making sure I have this correct...

Based on what some others said on the last page, I picked up some Cafe Bustelo from the store today since I was out of coffee and needed some. Just made a pot and it's pretty good. And like others mentioned, it's quite cheap.

I unpacked my small drip style coffee maker from college for the first time in 6 years so that my girlfriend could use it. Just to get some coffee in the house i picked up a can of Cafe Bustelo. I'm not a coffee guy, but saw it recommended in this thread. It says that it's espresso style coffee, but can I still use it in a traditional coffee maker? can anyone recommend an amount to water ratio? It's a small 4 cup coffee pot.

^^Uh, whatever ratio you normally do. It's really a matter of personal taste. It is "espresso ground" I believe (haven't had it in a while), if anything it's a bit too fine for that grind. I do 2tbsp grinds to 8oz of water... and it seems everyone does it differently. I've always heard a good "starting point" to test is 1tbsp - 6oz water.

I'm not a habitual drinker, but I still rage a little whenever someone only leaves a 1/2 cup of the good coffee in the tin.

Those Thermos brand vacuum flasks at are better at keeping coffee hot than I thought. I had yesterday's coffee today! Also, yesterday was a bad day.

I've tried almost every Trader Joe's brand and have settled on the house blend. There was some Whole Foods Italian roast I had a while back that was so good but I can't seem to find the right one.

Jubala has a cold-brew that is amazing. I drink straight coffee black with no sugar, but even if you're used to drinking it all done up, it won't need it.

^^I know! I just watched the owner/manager doing a "cupping" of some new coffee; it was pretty fascinating.

do you grind your own beans or buy them pre-ground? I don't think i drink enough coffee at home to justify getting a costly grinder.

I got a $25 spice grinder from World market that worked fine for grinding my own. You can use pre-ground coffee as well.

But all of it really depends on how picky you are with your coffee. I used to be particular, hence owning a few different french presses, etc. Now as long as it's dark in color and contains caffeine, no fucks are given.

what size are you looking for?

you can't beat 1L (34oz) for $9 (it even uses borosilicate glass, IIRC) if you have an IKEA nearby: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/60241389/

barring that, set up a deal alert on slickdeals for it since they come up all the time: http://slickdeals.net/newsearch.php?q=french+press&firstonly=1

i just picked up this 350mL (12oz, so good for a single cup of coffee) for something like $6 to keep at my office: http://www.amazon.com/Francois-Mimi-Borosilicate-French-Coffee/dp/B00CMCZDBA

My office supplies good coffee all day/every day, so I never make my own anymore.

I still make a cup of FP when I'm at home and craving some. It just seems pointless to go through the trouble and expense of making it on a weekday!
