Feel like this is the slippery slope of adding meat that eventually leads to replacing the biscuit with two pieces of chicken.

i still haven't figured out this whole ncaa deadline vs nba deadline yet.

i thought that you have to notify the ncaa by tomorrow if you plan to come back.

If you have declared before the NCAA Deadline, you have until the NCAA deadline to pull out or you lose remaining eligibility. You have until the NBA deadline to declare for the draft. If at any time you declare for the NBA draft after the NCAA Deadline you immediately forfeit remaining eligibility.

^^^If the 10th deadline is only for those who have *not* declared for the draft, then what would be the benefit of declaring before the 10th, if you are on the fence? (like McAdoo for instance).

^no benefit

the separate college and NBA deadlines benefit the NBA game completely

Leslie could say he's coming back

him and McAdoo could both come out on the 29th and say "we're going pro" then high five each other and make it rain

^^exactly. it's not making any sense to me.

^ok. so, since cjl hasn't "declared" for the draft, i guess he can tell the ncaa he's coming back by the 10th.... but he has until the 29th to enter the draft and forfeit his ncaa eligibility?

[Edited on April 9, 2012 at 4:17 PM. Reason : ok, you just answered my second question too. so the date we're interested in is the 29th.]

Okay, sounds good. So, only way CJL is SOL is if he declares after tomorrow, and gets a crappy pick in the middle of the 2nd round, because then he's stuck, and can't play in the NCAA any more.

Wait, isn't requesting to be reviewed by that committee, or whatever it its they do now, the same thing as declaring for the draft?

This shit is so confusing now. Thanks NCAA for muddling this all up.

"(4) The NBA provides a service in which the NBA Undergraduate Advisory Committee will offer a projected Draft status to any undergraduate applicant. The Committee sends out these responses on April 6, prior to the NCAA withdrawal deadline of April 10. The application for a response is not a declaration of intent to enter the Draft, and as Givony points out, is not always an accurate representation of where a player will end up going in the Draft."

basically the ncaa and nba are two separate entities each looking out for their own best interests. so it's not surprising that their rules contradict each other, it's stupid but it is what it is

people who declare for teh draft (i.e. trob, henson, barnes) have until the 10th to pull out if they havent hired an agent

anyone who hasnt declared (and asking for the committees advise is not counted as declaring) has until the 29th to declare for the draft

so unless you are absolutely sure there is no reason to declare before the 10th

Yeah, the bottom line is he has until the 29th to decide. It's that simple. If he had declared for the draft in order to remain eligible for next year he would have to 'withdraw' from the draft by April 10. However, nothing is stopping him from reentering the draft before the 29th.

The cajun filet/egg/cheese/country ham biscuit topic was much better imo. I'm gonna see if that'll fly at the Chatham St. Bojangles. I think you can get a huge Bo rounds there too. I can eat those things by the gross.

I would just like to thank all the ncaa coaches who cried and whined about the nba draft and got the ncaa to move their early entry deadline. It not only confuses fans, but is unfair to players as well. Great going guys!

Except the potential to be screwing up his team/buddies by hurting their changes with recruits?

If the player has a good relationship with the program, why would he wait until the very end to declare?

so the ncaa wants you to decide by the 10th...which apparently isn't even enough time for these players to get all their feedback. makes sense.
