the hardware for level 4 autonomous driving is well beyond anything tesla has shipped. it currently fills up the entire trunk of an S class and costs about double what the car does.

2013 SL I think, whatever the top trim is. 360 cam, bose stereo, leather, heated front and rear seats. the big deal about getting a 2013 is they added dc fast charging and a 6.6kw AC charger. I keep it in my garage at the race track to get around for general paddock stuff or to get over to the condos and then when I go to my house near the race track, we don't need to take 2 cars up, we can take 1 and then I can get in the leaf

I looked at that car and wanted to like it, but the hatch is useless imo. It's the same size as the non-turismo panamera. I ordered the cadillac lyriq without ever driving it on value alone. I haven't driven it still but I'm pretty excited for it. I'd love to see lexus make a phev wagon, but i won't hold my breath

Took delivery of this last week (technically the week before, but was at detail shop for a week). 1 of 1500 for the US in 2023, took a while (deposit placed early 2022).



Very happy with it thus far, though I still haven't reached the engine break it point, so there haven't been any runs up to redline as of yet.

Circuit Edition.

As mentioned haven't broken in yet, but a few plus/minus observations:

Pros: Grip for days, great exhaust note across all ranges (it's deeper than you'd expect), so many turbos sounds, very little turbo lag.

Cons: No lumbar support on Driver's seat (seriously?), lack of interior storage cubbies, laughable hatch space, tight rear seat, lack of amenities (basically all things my 2017 Mk7 GTI did better).

there's a youtube channel in australia or new zealand that took the yaris engine up to 524hp before running out of fuel/turbo/intercooler, but kept the engine stock. I'd love to see what a hopped up version could do in something like gridlife or global time attack with really lax rules for modifications

As to GTD: Objectively, seems like a cool car. But I find it stupid for a few reasons:

1. Ford had to build something, otherwise they were shut out of GT3/WEC international racing series. So they come up with this?!
2. Leading on the above, why didn't they build a GT successor instead? The car is being built by Multimatic anyway. People would go nuts for a mid-engined 3rd gen GT. Drop in the Voodoo engine and bask in your glory. Instead they came up with a $300k version of a $25k Mustang? (I'm fully aware it shares nothing except it's name and number of doors with a base Ecoboost, but it's just a stupid stupid use of brand naming).
3. Ford bragged about their goal for this car to be sub 7 around the Nurburgring. 800 hp and $300k isn't brag worthy for a time like that. A base 911 GT3 will be sub 7 for half that price (comparing MSRP).
4. Ford's GT line of mid-engine cars can stand in proud company with exotics. A lot of people won't see this Mustang derivative in the same way. Including me, because again, WHY did they chose this path?
