GOLDSBORO...LAURINBURG...RAEFORD...FAYETTEVILLE...CLINTON 308 PM EDT SUN JUN 25 2006
...FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH TUESDAY AFTERNOON...
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN RALEIGH HAS EXPANDED THE
* FLASH FLOOD WATCH TO INCLUDE A PORTION OF CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA...INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING AREAS...IN CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA...ALAMANCE...CHATHAM...CUMBERLAND...DURHAM... EDGECOMBE...FRANKLIN...GRANVILLE...HALIFAX...HARNETT...HOKE... JOHNSTON...LEE...MOORE...NASH...ORANGE...PERSON...SAMPSON... SCOTLAND...VANCE...WAKE...WARREN...WAYNE AND WILSON.
* THROUGH TUESDAY AFTERNOON
* RAINFALL AMOUNTS THROUGH TUESDAY AFTERNOON SHOULD AVERAGE BETWEEN 2 TO 4 INCHES WITH SOME LOCATIONS RECEIVING 6 INCHES OR MORE OF RAIN. A DEEP SOUTHEASTERLY FLOW WILL CONTINUE TO PUMP MOISTURE INTO CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS. NUMEROUS HEAVY SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TONIGHT THROUGH MONDAY AND TUESDAY. SHOWERS AND STORMS WILL MOVE REPEATEDLY OVER THE SAME AREA...SO EXCESSIVE RAINFALL AMOUNTS MAY OCCUR. A SHORT BREAK IN THE HEAVY RAIN MAY OCCUR LATE TONIGHT AND EARLY MONDAY MORNING...HOWEVER...AS THE UPPER LEVEL SYSTEM FROM THE WEST INTERACTS WITH A TROPICAL DISTURBANCE COMING UP FROM THE SOUTH LATE MONDAY SIGNIFICANT HEAVY RAINFALL IS EXPECTED.
* PREVIOUS HEAVY RAIN WHICH HAS FALLEN OVER CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA THE PAST SEVERAL DAYS HAS SATURATED THE GROUND IN SOME PLACES...AND MANY CREEKS ARE RUNNING HIGH. ADDITIONAL HEAVY RAINFALL OVER THIS AREA WOULD SEND THESE CREEKS OVER THEIR BANKS AND CAUSE FLOODING OF RIVERS...AS WELL AS URBAN AND POOR DRAINAGE AREAS. HEAVY TROPICAL RAINFALL EVENTS ARE ALWAYS POTENTIALLY VERY DANGEROUS AND FLOODING CAN DEVELOP RAPIDLY IN ANY AREA OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS.
A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP THAT LEAD TO FLASH FLOODING. FLASH FLOODING IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. RESIDENTS IN CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA SHOULD MONITOR FORECASTS FOR THE NEXT FEW DAYS AND BE ALERT TO PERIODS OF HEAVY RAIN AND FLOODING.
PEOPLE ACROSS THE AREA SHOULD MONITOR THE LATEST FORECASTS AND CONDITIONS... AND BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION SHOULD FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS BE ISSUED." |

It's WRAL's display you are referring to, not their radar. There is only one radar that serves this area (NWS Doppler radar in Clayton). Weather stations get their products from different places, but use the information that the NWS puts out.6/25/2006 3:52:10 PM |

this one changes a lot, so it might not always be a radar. its weird
basically i dont ever trust it unless its dark green or higher.
