^^ black rifle prices are inching back down, and every gun shop seems to have them in stock. Small gun prices are lower than they were, and are getting easier to find in stock. Biggest issues are still getting ammo locally at ok prices, esp pistol stuff. 5/31/2009 8:48:00 PM |

Regarding the CCH meeting, I would rather park the iron at the fort so as to enjoy a cold beer and good company. I guess we could meet at a church....but I'm not grounded for lighting.

the meet is an OPEN CARRY meet that happens every month. OC, CC, nC are all welcome. The point is to show the public that law abiding citizens CAN and DO carry firearms and that no harm will come of it. It is somewhat akin to a silent, perpetual demonstration.
There is no reason to change the entire purpose of this dinner series.
If you'd like to get a group together and just chill/have some beers, all without your firearm, then please do, I'd be there in a heartbeat. however, that and what I am advertising are two completely different animals. 6/1/2009 5:22:11 PM |

yea thats why i mentioned feeler and obo. I don't need them gone i just don't need multiple 7.62x39 rifles. The ruger is nice and the 700 is a good price considering the mags and the stock and scope. The sks just makes me really happy shooting tennis balls out of it for my dog and so im sure its listed higher than it should be because of that.

That is actually really cool gun, and a pretty good deal on it
my friend has one, and he loves it (replaced his S&W Jframe as his daily CC)
Only thing is it doesn't fit well in big hands (I can't shoot it comfortably)
I'd probably wait and get an LCR myself, but still a cool pistol 6/12/2009 11:21:13 AM |

You guys have me babbling now!
The LCP is extremely similar to Kel-Tec's P3AT and that's why I'd just go with a slight size increase and get a PF-9 or Kahr PM-9. I'm not a fan of the .380 Auto anyway, simply because so few loads in the caliber perform as well as I'd like (Especially when you try sending them through really short barrels). That's not to say it's worthless, just that it's not my first choice due to very limited quality PD ammo.
The PF-9 or the Kahr PM-9 offer the ability to fire a more reasonably powerful semi-auto handgun caliber in a true pocket pistol and there are quite a few effective 9x19mm loads.
Now, if somebody throws me an LCP for free, it's going to go into my pocket with a mag full of Federal's 90gr Hydra-Shok rounds. This is pretty much the best .380 Auto load available, hands down (IMO obviously). It's one of VERY few .380 Auto hollow point loads that will reliably expand and still penetrate to right around 12", even out of pocket pistols. Case in point, check out how it performs out of the Kel-Tec P3AT after passing through a light t-shirt (Pretty standard summer attire around here):

Those shytes have been backordered forever. I'd just run over to PDHSC real quick and get a Kel-Tec PF-9 for like $310 honestly. That's a man's gun son. 6/12/2009 2:28:32 PM |
kylekatern All American 3291 Posts user info edit post |
A 380 is a gun that CAN defend you. However, while better than a 22/25/32, and that is said knowing I EDC a 32 keltec, the 380 is sort of a solution looking for a problem. I LOVE the P32, as it disapears even in shorts and teeshirt on a HOT day. The PF9 is so close in size to most of the 380's that you might as well go for the cheaper to feed, bigger power gun. 115-124 GR beats 80-90 any day.
All that said, better the 1-2 shot 22 short you have on you than the combat shop racegun that is on the shelf at home. Know the guns you have, know the limits, load them with loads you have shot, that you can trust to fire every time, feed every time, and expand downrange every time. 6/12/2009 5:15:27 PM |

Oh, I have every intention. I just wanted a 1911, and had to sell the SIG to afford it at the time (plus, my SIG was in pretty pitiful shape cosmetically, and I sold it for a nice profit). I figured all along on getting another one (or two)...I just don't have time to shoot enough to justify spending money on more than the 1911 right now.
That, and it's pointless for me to get my CCP, since I can't carry on base. 6/13/2009 10:21:44 PM |
Biofreak70 All American 33197 Posts user info edit post |
josh, do you live on base?
and can you have it in your car at all? like could you install a safe? or is it no guns whatsoever? 6/13/2009 10:42:33 PM |
theDuke866 All American 52839 Posts user info edit post |
no, i don't live on base, but i go to base pretty much every day (work, gym, etc). you can't bring guns on base, period. it's federal property.
the only exception is that you can check it into the armory (i guess that's the provision for if you live in base housing)...it isn't something that's doable every day, though. 6/14/2009 10:15:32 AM |
Biofreak70 All American 33197 Posts user info edit post |
weird... cause Edwards AFB had a shooting range on it... I wonder how they got around that? 6/14/2009 10:29:27 AM |
JCASHFAN All American 13916 Posts user info edit post |
^^ That has to be a local policy. Forts Sill, Bragg, and Rucker all have personal weapons ranges. Your weapon needs to be registered on post to use those ranges, but you don't have to keep them in the armory. 6/14/2009 11:04:50 AM |
theDuke866 All American 52839 Posts user info edit post |
really? you could just register your weapon on base one time, then you had a blank check to ride around on base with it in your car? 6/14/2009 11:28:16 AM |
