i think whatever we do it should be our own and not copy anyone else's. i think ncsufolding.com is good, but in terms of our look and feel of the site it would be good if it didn't look 'exactly' like ECU's... but i do like the simplicity of it.

hm i tried to pull you up on the extremeoverclocking site, and it says invalid team number. i think thats because they only include teams with a certain number of points.

did raiden switch teams?

you guys should join up with us

yes i know, i use those comps every day.

but i also know that they aren't anywhere near fully-utilized over xmas and on the weekends. i'm just saying some sort of script that could dedicate a handful of processors to the folding work when no one is in the queue. i bet the HPC might be open to this. and it would put the performance of people's PCs to shame.

Team rank is the rank of NCSU out of the 38,000+ teams (we are #94 of 38,000)

User rank is 232nd of 361.

Thanks for your help, every little bit helps

BTW, F@H has a new website:

or maybe KRUZNBY can do the same... i can also just pay for the domain and have it forward to the current site.

the .info domains i had were only for 1year b/c i got them for free... it was http://www.foldingatncsu.info

Since I have no real experience in web design, I imagine you would be able to put something together faster and looks 10x better than my site. I have no problem if you want to create a site and 'move' all of the info to it and make it the official team site.

I've gone ahead and gotten ncsufolding.com, it's $9.95/year for the domain name.

If you feel willing to throw in $1-2 for domain hosting PM me and I'll send you a link to donate via paypal. Any contributions will be appreciated, and if we receive more than $10 I'll put it towards securing the domain for future years. Don't feel like you need to contribute in anyway. If no contributions are given I'll take care of it.

now that a bulk of people have signed up, everyone's been switched to author, so if you have any posts you want to make to announce new results, new clients, folding news in the media, etc.... go ahead.

some of the content probably needs refreshed too, i've done some, but if you see any info or dead links let me know.

^^ do you overclock? what OS?

Unfortunately alot of things can cause this. I did read this:

Quote :
"Seems an un-install, regclean, re-install is the best bet.
I have only had one or two, and can't really remember.
It usually DLs the same WU. If so and it errors again, delete the work folder, quech, and
wu info file. Let it DL a new one. "

So at the very least, uninstall and reinstall. Also delete the work folder if the uninstall doesn't take care of that.

Heres the folding forums thread about your error code:
http://forum.folding-community.org/ftopic18575.html

Let us know if you have any progress or have any questions.

i wonder if i'm doing something wrong...i have an older toshiba laptop with a busted screen that i figured would make a decent folding-dedicated machine...it's a 2.2ghz p4 mobile with 512mb of ram and an 80gb hard drive running xp pro sp2 with the latest updates...i've run folding on slower machines

the first issue i had is that i couldn't reboot my machine half the time because fah wouldn't close, i had to kill it manually...it was actually stuck on unit 17/250...nothing seemed to fix it, so i uninstalled and reinstalled fah...okay, no worries as it actually picked up where it left off at 18 and would allow windows to shut down or restart just fine without hanging

except that it's going INCREDIBLY slow...it was 18 when i VNC'd into it earlier this morning and now, almost 12 hours later, it's only on 27/250 (i checked it a few times during the day to make sure i wasn't just catching it on different units...either it's super slow or i just happen to keep catching it at the beginning of each unit)

suggestions? is this hardware just too minimal? not enough ram? p4m causing problems?

what client is it running?

another thing is, it sounds like you didn't delete all the work/queue config stuff when you uninstalled, this may help... but let's see if anyone else has any ideas before you lose the work.

^ sounds like you might be running the graphical...don't run the graphical

if you're running windows, there should only be two options. (obviously Linux and Mac have different options)

1) If you have a dual-core or a quad core, run the SMP (currently in beta, version 5.91)

2) Anything less than a dual core and you need to run the "Windows NT/2000/XP/Vista text-only console (with built-in Windows-service-install option) " client...and its best to run it as a service.

http://folding.stanford.edu/English/Download

And for a complete uninstall of the console client look here:
http://fahwiki.net/index.php/How_do_I_uninstall_the_console_client%3F
But it sounds like you're running the graphical anyway...so i would uninstall that and install the console.

okay...i uninstalled the gui client, deleted the folder, and installed (for whatever reason) the v6 beta (thought i'd give it a shot)...i assume it operates in pretty much the same way, so i installed it as a service...did the restart and so the windows is gone (as expected)...where do i go to see how it's working? i want to verify that it's actually doing something this time

i just checked it in task manager and it's using all of 0% cpu

i didn't even look at it again last night, but after checking it this morning, it's apparently working

now, i briefly went through the wiki and i don't THINK it was there (i could just be blind and/or lazy, though)...how do i 1.) bring up the console so i can see what it's doing (that way it is before you install it as a client) and 2.) pause/stop the program manually without losing my work (in case of the need to restart the computer or something)?

To see progress you can always go to the install folder, and look at the log file.

A better option is to install monitoring software for your folding client(s) - http://fahmon.net/

If you installed the console client as a service, you dont have to worry about manually starting and stopping....just let it run. when you reset your pc it will close down and reopen since its running as a service. if you really want to manually start and stop the service, you have two options:

1) Go to services.msc and right-click on the service and stop it

2) Or setup a .bat file on your desktop with the single command "net stop servicename" where servicename=the name of the f@h service in services.msc

is there a way to run the smp client without the window like you can with running the console as a service?
