there are Conflict diamonds, and diamonds that come from legit sources, if you had listen to the lyrics or didn't generally live with your head up your ass you'd know this.

Sierra Leone represents only a fraction of Africa's diamond mining industry.

^^^yeah, since I have my head up my ass I don't realize the obvious hypocrisy of singing about the tribulations and slavery involved in some diamond mining while wearing "legit sources" diamonds...cause he, as a well-known public figure, isnt at all influencing others to try and rock ice, regardless of the origin and source

If you've purchased an engagement ring and did a little bit of research it would be a well known point. THere is also a push against "dirty diamonds" out of Africa because of the AIDS/HIV epidemic and how it runs rampant in the diamond mining camps.

Hmm, I think I need to give Little Brother another listen. I actually saw them perform at Cat's Cradle in the summer of 2004 with MOP and Pharaoh Monche. I had heard of them before but never heard any of their music. I wasn't impressed at the time, but then again it's hard to really get a feel for lyrics and production in a place like that. I bought a single they were selling after the show, gave it a listen, and tossed it. So what joints should I really pay attention to?

Finally got a chance to listen to the whole album and its pretty good. Some of Kanye's raps sound a bit too contrived or forced. I think its just trying to hear him get all "socially conscious" like he's Common or something. Just doesn't fit him.
