I dropped him for Crosby and I have Theriot for a backup who is also eligible at 2B
I got decent enough power everywhere else (Berkman, Burrell, Wright) to make up for these guys so it's all good 4/25/2008 11:53:17 AM |

Only pitcher since 1956 to make 3 straight starts of at least 8 IP, 8+ K's, < 1 BB, & < 3 hits is Cliff Lee.
Needless to say, if you can trade him as an ace, go ahead & jump on it. He's faced some of the weakest AL lineups thus far (A's twice, Twins & Royals), which could set him up for problems when facing a NYY, Bos or Det lineup. 4/25/2008 4:30:08 PM |

Quick, who leads the league in RBIs at this moment? hint: it's not Pujols or Ortiz or Ramirez or Howard or Utley or Wright or [insert big name superstar]
It's Josh Hamilton, who is still one of the better stories in baseball. Who said doing drugs was a bad thing? He missed the whole Steroid Era because of it 4/27/2008 6:36:06 PM |

i won my matchup this week 10-0 to extend my lead on first place.
i'm trying to add another stud pitcher though. two trades are awaiting review...one for santana and one for webb and peavy.
^^^^i'd swap atkins for bay...once bay gets going, he's great, but atkins always seems to have major ups and downs when i've ever had him on my teams.

one of the dumbest comments in this thread
atkins is a guaranteed 25+ HRs, 110+ RBIs, and .300 avg guy
Bay was terrible last year and mediocre this year
Bay has a .247 avg, 5 HRs and 8 RBis compared to a .330 avg., 6 HRs and 20 RBIs from Atkins this year
Speaking of Atkins, I have another offer on the table. I want to ask for another player if I accept it. Keep in mind I disparately need SBs.
I trade: Utley Atkins Votto
for
AROD BJ Upton Josh Hamilton
Quote : | "I have Carlos Lee in LF and Ryan Braun can play 3rd or LF and I have Garrett Atkins at third now....would you drop any of those 3 to get Bay?" |
Absolutely not. As I said, Bay looked terrible last year (compared to his previous 2 years) and it's not looking that much better this year.

If that trade gets accepted, quit your league... immediately. I get that Utley is valuable given his position but Upton and Hamilton are both better than the other two you are giving up. Plus A-Rod will finish with better #s than Utley when it's all said and done.

I'd do it. I probably overstated it a bit, as Atkins is really good but I don't think he will continue this pace and historically (not this year) he is worse away from COL.
Votto will be very inconsistent this year and probably won't be a 150 game type guy..
I know...
I think you'll get:
A-Rod - a minimum of 40, 120 Upton - a minimum of 20, 95 Hamilton - a minimum of 25, 100
You'd give up:
Utley - 30, 115 Atkins - 30, 110 Votto - 15, 75

^I already dropped Jacobs in both of my leagues. He's on a pretty terrible streak lately (2-23). Picked up Votto in one and Quentin in the other. Dye isn't doin too hot recently either but it's better than Jacobs, and for the season Dye has a much higher BA but won't hit for the power of Jacob.
TreeTwista10 why do you still have bourn? if either Taveras or Carlos Gomez are available you should look into them... may not steal quite as many bases, but with how Bourn's hitting he may not be a starter for very much longer. 4/28/2008 1:44:33 PM |

^^i just picked up Bourn for today since its a short day...I normally play Hamilton, Hart and Byrnes as my 3 OFers but last week I lost steals 8-7 so I figured I'd add somebody speedy...Gomez has his own issues getting on base just like Bourn...Taveras is available in my league as well but I dunno...Bourn has missed multiple games with injury, and still has a few more SBs than anybody else in the league...plus he has a couple homers which is always a plus...I might go with Kaz Matsui as he stole plenty of bases last year, and also has a little power...thats basically my stream position though...I've had Mark Reynolds, Edwin Encarnacion, Mark Derosa, etc 4/28/2008 3:08:13 PM |
