I don't think it's any wonder that folks run from police when you can die during a routine traffic stop, die in custody, or die in your cell. I think it's completely understandable that folks might take their chances on fleeing 10/19/2015 2:17:16 PM |

No other country in the world can boast that kind of thing happening in a school.
I am really shocked.
Seriously, that's what some schools have come down to? Cops assaulting children during class for disobedience???How is that even approved/allowed to happen? That's God damn shocking for me. Seems like this is something not so unusual in the US, but I find it highly ..??.. can't even find the right word. 10/27/2015 8:46:35 AM |

Two incidents come to mind when I first saw this. Both from high school.
1. Gym class. We had already dressed back into our street clothes after class, and were all just shooting the basketball around until the Bell actually rung. A student, jokingly came up behind one of our coaches (both really nice people) and bear hugged him. The coach yelled out in pain, "ahhhh, quit it. I have a bad back!". The kid let go, and took off running across the gym floor. The coach picked up a basketball, threw it at the kid, and pegged him in the back of the head....knocking him to the ground. The coach was fired.
2. Football practice. After changing into our pads for practice, we all still had to walk to the practice field. The coach just drove his car. There was a single, narrow, dirt path to get to the field which we all shared. Now, usually we would all move to the side to let the coach pass. But one kid, being a dick, walked slowly down the middle of the road, in order to block the coach. What did the coach do? He nudged him with the front bumper. The coach was fired.
Violence of any sort should not be acceptable against students unless they themselves are acting in a violent manner. This resource officer should be held to the same standard. 10/27/2015 9:08:00 AM |

I didn't think that was assault. He had to get her out of the desk, her leg got caught she flailed, and the desk flipped. He pulled her the rest of the way out and cuffed her. If he punched and kicked her, that would be a different story. You can't just scoot someone's desk that easily...she looks pretty heavy and it's not like she was a 9 year old child. Hopefully she can take this as a teaching moment and learn some respect for her SRO's, her classmates, and her teachers. I'm sure her injuries would've been much worse if it were a nun slapping her hands with a ruler. This looks to be a non-story. 10/27/2015 9:17:25 AM |

I have no reason to believe otherwise. From everything I've seen and read, her position was non- violent non- compliance. From her disobedience of not participating in class, to her disobedience of sitting in her chair when she was told to leave.... It doesn't sound like she raised a fist or foot to anyone.
But it sounds to me that you are more than willing to justify the cop's behavior by what this 5'6 female coulda woulda done. Sounds an awful lot like "I'm justified in beating this guy up cause he looks dangerous, and he back talked me".

Back in the day when kids were little shits they got backhanded by the teacher or hit with a paddle or ruler and people didn't think twice about it and the rest of the kids quickly learned to not be assholes. Now kids pretty much know if anyone lays a hand on them they can just sue them or get them fired so now you have schools full of little shits who aren't willing to listen to anyone because their parents don't care and they are pretty much the only ones who can enforce any reasonable punishment. Being a schools resource officer has to be the worst assignment in law enforcement.
In other news, I found two 12 year kids walking down a busy drag around 1:30 am the other night. One of the kids asked me, "Am I being detained or am I free to leave?" 10/27/2015 11:33:56 AM |

I remember one kid brought pot brownies in one morning for all the ladies who worked in the front office. They were almost all devoured when they noticed the pot. HA.

I don't think there was violence. Sometimes verbal cues don't work, so physical cues are required. I'm justifying his actions based on her non-compliance. Her unwillingness to cooperate doesn't lead me to believe that she would have cooperated with him scooting her out of the room. End of the day, she'll be fine. 10/27/2015 2:22:18 PM |

This 100%. Part of the pussification of America.
I haven't heard the audio from the video or seen any other facts released so I'm yet sure what the whole story is, but judging from the lack of reaction (visual at least) from the students the student must have been really forcing the cop to get physical. My problem is that when it is a male cop arresting a female, that is way too violent even if she is passively resisting. That bitch got slammed like a ragdoll.
Quote : | "Just keep in mind, it is the #BLM movement that is creating creating distrust and ill- will towards the police. " |
To some extent it does, but mainly #BLM just causes division and perpetuates the victim mindset through false narratives thanks to the liberal media.

I mean if this video constitutes "shit like this" where someone doesn't listen to a cop and bad stuff happens, who cares? If a thug attacks a cop and dies... who cares? The only reason this is even on the news is because its white cop on black suspect.

First of all, you can't do this type of thing in front of all of these children. If you watch the video, the desk leg comes up and hits another student's laptop or it could have impaled that student. Why is the cell phone an issue when most students are on laptops? The administrators should be suspended for not being able to handle this situation in the first place.
Leave the student in the chair at least until the classroom is empty and then have a psychologist come and talk her out of the chair. Violence should never be used as discipline against a child unless someone is in danger. 10/27/2015 8:17:28 PM |

It is ANYONE's fault except for the "infallible victim".
Hell, it isn't her fault she disrupted class, didn't listen to the teacher, the principal, the cop, its the fault of society right? Its the classroom rule's fault. It was Apple's fault for designing such an entertaining phone. It's the classes fault for getting distracted by it. It's the teacher's fault for enforcing rules and trying to do her job.10/27/2015 11:10:12 PM |

No one said the student did no wrong. The school needs to do its job and deal with poor class participation in a way that doesn't involve body slamming children.
In all of these stories about police, there seem to be people who argue the victim "had it coming" for doing anything wrong. You give the police a free pass to do whatever they want as long as a law was broken. That is the definition of excessive force. 10/27/2015 11:28:27 PM |

^He has to defend himself from racial accusations preemptively just because of this liberal media's "racist until proven not racist" climate.
And of course it's legal. You are disobeying school officials and a police at the expense of 30 other students who are obeying the rules. You are then resisting police orders/arrest.

I missed this absurdly idiotic quote at the top. The statistically nonexistent chance of dying from a routine stop in no way makes it "understandable" to flee. Fleeing is what escalates routine stops into situations that could lead to death. I think it is sad that anyone would think fleeing from the cops is justified because of the liberal media's spin on a few criminals getting shot (because they were non compliant).

I agrees that it doesn't seem legal and I disagree from the arrest from what I have heard. As aaronburro discussed in the other thread no one is denying their is a very real issue with police using excessive violence against civilians and a problem with police brutality. I think many hard core trump fan libertarians would join this camp.
When you start framing this as a "racial" issue when there is no evidence to support this then you completely lose credibility to many folks that may help protest the issue.
From the video I see a stubborn obstinate little brat and a hot head dick cop. What I don't see is a racist cop that wants to beat up black people because he hates N*g$3rs.
BTW I don't agree with militarization of schools but in some districts I could see why officials don't have a choice. AKa places like inner city LA with lots of gang violence and issues with thugs bringing weapons and drugs onto school grounds
