I didn't see that coming, but it makes sense because of the seating capacity and soccer tradition at UNC, albeit mainly on the women's side.

According to the Mirror, the famed football club Chelsea will play Wrexham in a friendly in the historic American college football stadium on July 19. Wrexham is owned by two famous Hollywood actors - Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, who took over the club in November of 2020."

As a Chelsea supporter, Real Madrid have more goals than us in one Match since 11/02/22

Looking at Potter's past managing stints it takes his teams a while to get going, but I know a lot of supporters are getting more agitated. Goal Scoring though isn't a Potter problem its been a problem for several years.

At least Liverpool is having as rough a season as us. TAA may be one of the best crossers in the world but his defensive skills are really poor without Konate as cover he looks even worse.
"

Thiago Silva getting injured will be rough. He has done quite well for chelsea and is quite the stand up guy. plus a damn great 1 on 1 defender although I haven't watched him much recently.

^Yeah he has been a rock in defense, but Fofana has looked good in relief. And really its not defense that has been the clubs issues. They aren't great at defending set pieces which is where 2 of the last 3 goals conceded have come from. Open play goals haven't been that common. Dortmunds goal came on a poor Chelsea set piece.

Offense is where they are struggling. They just can't seem to get on same page and then shots have been way off target. However that may be mental and once they get past that goals may start coming more frequently than one every 4 matches

^^Honestly given some comments from players another US preseason tour doesn't seem like a good idea unless they are going to run it better.

Apparently Chelsea performs better in the Champions League when they suck in the Premier League. They finished sixth in the PL when they won the 2012 CL trophy and fourth in the PL when they won it in 2021.

^^ New players in yesterdays Starting XI

Raheem Sterling - Summer Signing
Wesley Fofana - Summer Signing
Kalidou Koulibaly - Summer Signing
Marc Cucurella - Summer Signing
Joao Felix - Winter Signing
Enzo Fernandez - Winter Signing

So 6 weren't in Chelsea's squad last season and 8 of the 15 players used were not in the squad last season.

^ very true, but Chelsea have made the Quarterfinals almost everytime they are in the competition. However, its the only way we get European football next season is if we win the entire competition so its definitely being priortized over the league now. Barring a setback Kante will be back for Quarterfinals which will be a huge boost.

As shitty as they've been, there's still a realistic chance at 4th if they can get out of their own way.

City got a tough draw to get to Istanbul, but they'd likely be the largest favorite in final history (at least recent history) if they do get that far. Italian league has to be happy about their odds of getting a team to the final.

Bayern Munich didn't waste any time finding a coach who knows how to beat City. I wish Tuchel the best, just not in the Champions League.

Heading to Germany with a commanding lead, but we can't get complacent and pull a PSG or Barca at Allianz. Majestic performance by Silva tonight, turned them inside out with nutmegs.

I think a lot of people fail to realize there was no choice for Chelsea, it was either Roman sells the team or they cease to exist. He had to do a quick sale, its not like Clearlake Capital hasn't spent money.

Chelsea fans are pissed at the ownership group for some of the summer signings, yet they were pissed when they weren't making signings. We lost 3 targets to broke ass Barcelona and so they went to backup plans to appease fans and they for the most part haven't worked out. The squad is bloated and there isn't enough matches to appease everyone. They are going to lose money on a lot of signings as every club in the world knows we need to sell. Which means they will have to sell Mount, RLC, and Gallagher to settle FFP. They still need a striker and a defensive mid fielder. The ownership group isn't leaving so being pissed at them isn't going to help and it will just make the rebuild take longer.

The double edged sword with no European football they will not be in the race for players that will be overpriced and may not live up to the price tag, but other english squads may and they will get stronger. Just hope our rebuild doesn't take as long as Arsenal's did.

Eh, its not just fan appeasement and misses. One example is that Pulisic wanted to go last summer. It has been clear that he is not in their plans going forward (arguable whether that is smart or not), so why the hell didn't they sell? Now they are gonna be giving him up at a steep discount. That is part of the bloat.

Signing 4 wingers while you still have Havertz/Mount/Gallagher as your central attack isn't fan appeasement, it's just freakin dumb.

And anytime you can grab an overpriced sterling from a city team that doesn't want him as your marquee signing last summer, you gotta do it.

Admittedly I am biased because of how Tuchel fucked around with Pulisic, but the recent stuff has made it easier to have fun watching them damn near join the relegation fight with my Leeds boys.

Popped over and went to Arsenal at Liverpool a couple weeks ago, was a solid time and fun game. Also went to Norwich at Blackburn at the last minute a few days before, had a great time there, great fans/people. Went to the bar in Wrexham for them vs Notts County, couldn't get a ticket, but still was insane how many other people I ran into who just came to the town for the hell of it that day.
