^ Wow that is awesome.
I didn't realize how widespread so many of these laws are in the nation and it seems like the pro-life crowd is gaining ground. As 19% of the population how the fuck is this possible. At a time when the country as a whole seems to at least be getting slightly more progressive on the average, somehow the red states are becoming more backwards and regressing (ie NC's ag-gag law). There has to be some poli-sci explaination. 2/22/2016 3:52:41 PM |

I wish we could take the whole Pro-Life crowd (specifically the ones that oppose abortion in ALL cases even rape, incest, and those done for the safety of the mother) and throw them over a boat 2000 miles out in the atlantic. 2/23/2016 12:43:32 PM |

40 years since Roe v Wade why does it feel like the anti-choice crowd keeps gaining more and more traction???
Are those against abortion simply outbreeding those who aren't?
Is American more Christian than 40 years ago (have trouble believing)?
or
Is this really more of a migration issue where educated progressive leaning people choose to leave backwards fly-over states because of policies like these. Thus the crazies are simply making up a majority of the demographics in these places when before they wouldn't have had the power.3/29/2016 6:39:55 PM |

Last point. I think more and more people are heading to the coasts and the middle of the country is turning into an insane asylum. Also a good chunk of new immigrants are very anti-abortion. 3/30/2016 3:36:04 AM |

And because science is now showing us more and more just how far developed a young fetus is, even within the first trimester. It's hard to look at a developing human as just a clump of meaningless cells when so much of who they will become as a person is already set in motion early in the womb.
Just one example of countless findings on this topic: https://www.ted.com/talks/annie_murphy_paul_what_we_learn_before_we_re_born?language=en 3/31/2016 11:45:11 AM |

But the woman is still the host, so if you agree that certain exceptions should be made for abortion (rape, risk to mother, etc...) then you agree that the hosts's rights can superseded any rights of the fetus regardless of this claimed development
and you're going to need to link to something more than a TED talk to demonstrate that a fetus is a person in the first trimester 3/31/2016 11:58:01 AM |

Huh? Fetus is a person /= so much of who they will become as a person is already set in motion early in the womb.
And lol at pretending you're too good for plebeian TED talks, as if you know more about the topic than a lifelong researcher on the issue.4/5/2016 5:44:38 PM |

well, to start, the author of that TED talk is a journalist and speaker who was there to promote a book, not a lifelong researcher. this is the problem with ted talks, anyone can say anything and since its in a ted talk format instead of something written it is much more difficult to check the sources they cite (and some ted talks don't even cite any sources)
but secondly, nothing in that ted talk demonstrates or claims that a fetus is a person. that was either the point you were implying, or you were not implying that point in which case your post was a total non-sequitur and has nothing to do with the topic of abortion.

^^ reading comprehension is key.
The discussion was around the question "40 years since Roe v Wade why does it feel like the anti-choice crowd keeps gaining more and more traction???"
Craaaaazy kind of demonizing, discussion-stunting logic on your part that conflates an explanation of one possible answer to this into "claims that a fetus is a person".
GG, though. Wouldn't expect any less. 4/6/2016 9:14:13 AM |

if you aren't trying to relate her ted talk to personhood of a fetus, how is it relevant to that post?
also, i checked the ted talk, it only cites "studies" without saying which ones or really giving any detail. so, not only is your post not relevant, the ted talk isn't credible for the unrelated points that it does make without some more information.

^not even going to respond again to your first point. you can go back and re-read on your own.
and if you need cited studies to convince you what is pretty much common knowledge these days (and in any number of studies easily findable)- that advanced technology and (advanced ultrasound imaging, language formation, etc) is showing us more and more how much important formation happens EARLY in the development of the fetus- than I feel for you. But that doesn't suit your narrative.
So keep blazin, bro! 4/6/2016 10:03:01 AM |

^^ The same Texas Grand Jury that indicted these journalists, which was subsequently dropped, like this case in California will be.
Listen, the fact is, the PP representative ADMITS to selling the fetal tissue. This undercover journalism led PP to stop taking money for aborted baby parts, and launched a congressional investigation into the general practice of selling aborted baby parts. That committee’s hearings showed the market for aborted baby parts is significant, growing, and operating in violation of federal law. In fact, a few months ago, two California medical companies that obtained fetal parts from Planned Parenthood were charged with illegally profiting off the sale of fetal tissue donated by abortion providers. 3/30/2017 11:54:14 AM |
