Bad idea. Penetration is horrible. At best you'd blind a bad guy by shooting out their eyes. You can't stop a determined bad guy easily with bird shot.
If penetration is a concern then go with #4 buck.

If you are under 5-7 yds, which you would be during a home invasion, a powerful bird shot load blows a hole into whatever you aim at. I have tested it on several different types of targets and I am convinced it will stop a bad guy. #4 buckshot would be much safer than 00, but the walls of my apartment are paper thin. When I move into a house by myself, I will switch to 00.

All things considered, get something, train with it, make sure it works and have it ready.

I am looking for a good .22 project rifle for xmas. Needs to be in beat up or rusty or godawful shape. I would kill to find one of those imfamous Marlin 60's that have been beat to hell. I would be thrilled to find a Savage 6a or 87a/87t as well.

Basically, if you have or see a throwaway .22 rifle (lever, semi or bolt) let me know.

^I have a Marlin 60 in good shape that is the first gun I ever fired. Love that thing. Its almost twice as old as me. Very early model, from the 60s.

Bought this brand new about 7-8 months ago, and have put about 100rds through it.
I just dont shoot it enough to justify keeping it.

It's a little picky on the ammo, but I suspect it just hasnt been broken in yet. Honestly shoots the cheaper ammo (Thunderbolt) better than it does CCI mini-mags.
Great little gun that feels almost identicle to my Sig P226 9mm. Looks exactly the same only with smaller dimensions.

Comes with hard plastic carrying case, holster & 1 magazine.

$275 obo. Must have permit or CCW.

I about bought one of these but ended up with the ruger 22/45 for my 22 needs...

the sig is still a neat little gun- and that is a pretty decent price. Surprises me that it doesn't like CCI minimags. Every 22 I've shot, regardless of how picky, will feed that stuff pretty well

just trying to get a feel for this:

i have a springfield 1911 GI with maybe 3-400 rounds through it - just getting too expensive to shoot and i prefer my glock anyway. im really particular about my guns and it is kept well oiled and very clean.
