^^ We're going to watch it tonight. She's a teacher and we went out and got trashed last night to celebrate the start of her summer.
I don't think she's going to be able to handle it. 6/3/2013 11:50:53 AM |

i have been waiting for this moment basically since the beginning of the season. i was seriously stressed about it and shaking my leg since the episode began. after it was over i felt......i don't know. it happened pretty much like it did in the book but i just felt like it all happened so quickly i didn't get a chance to take it all in. i'll have to watch again and see if it changes my mind.
we are watching with a friend who hasn't read the books and so after the episode was over he was like "Jesus can one of the lannisters just die already! i dont care who!" i just had to sit there and try not to make an expression because he haaaates when i spoil something even if it's just with an inadvertent facial expression

i enjoyed it, but it felt really scaled down compared to the image I had in my head. The book gave me images of a huge great hall, hundreds of wedding guests, a much more massive slaughter. obviously budget reasons keep that from being a reality and i thought they did a good job with what they had to work with.
i also thought Cat was perfectly portrayed. especially the look on her face as it all came together. the unveiling of Roost's chain mail underneath, the song change to the Rains of Castamere, etc. the only thing they missed was her clawing at her own face. obviously, like Tyrion's scar, something they had to leave out or tone down.6/3/2013 12:50:34 PM |

In the books, Jaime and Brienne don't get back to King's Landing until after the Royal Wedding. I'm really not sure what else is supposed to happen. Part of me thinks Tywin and Joffrey will bite it in the next episode but I'm really not sure.
I guess they could just stick to the Wall and Stannis and maybe out Jorah as a Varys spy. <shrug>

i don't think you'll see much major happen next episode. If anything we might finally meet Cold Hands.
It did look in the previews that Jamie returned to King's Landing, but i'm not so sure. It'll probably be a lot of place setting and reactions to the Red Wedding to set up next season.6/3/2013 3:07:09 PM |

no way any lannisters die next week. there hasn't been enough buildup for the royal wedding. they want everyone to marinate on the lannister's "winning" in the offseason.
the episode will probably consist of grey wind's head on robb's body, jon's return to the wall, the night's watch sending letters out about the imminent wildling invasion, bran venturing beyond the wall, joffrey tormenting sansa, and danaerys taking control of yunkai. 6/3/2013 3:33:03 PM |

I think the TV show will make Dany's story more interesting than the book did. The books problem was not that it wasn't interesting...it's that it dragged on for so fucking long. The tv show will more than likely cut out the boring shit and just focus on the interesting stuff. 6/4/2013 2:56:00 PM |

I'm not sure if any of you read the books when they originally came out (I didn't), but I imagine a lot of the hate for Dany's story comes from the long as fuck wait between ASOS and ADWD (11 years). To wait that long for her to still be Essos and no closer to Westeros than she was at the end of ASOS must have been horrible. Having read all the books back to back, it wasn't that bad and I enjoyed the majority of her story in Mereen.

Martin has admitted that he wrote himself into a corner with daenerys in mereen, which is why she spent an entire book there without anything happening. Hopefully in the next book she fucks up khal jhoqo and gets herself a proper khalasar again before heading back to pick up her other army at mereen and fuck up the yunkai/volantis army. Meanwhile aegon will quietly add dorne and start conquerong westeros. Series ends with aegon having westeros and dany rules essos. Valyrian freehold reborn (and i think we will see some character travel to the ruins of valyria) 6/4/2013 10:56:41 PM |

also, from the other thread: Robb Stark writes a note declaring Jon Snow his heir to the north before the red wedding, unfortunately nothing will happen with this story point considering they didn't add it to the show. 6/4/2013 11:33:01 PM |

I found her one episode where she torched the city to be the best thing this season with the exception of the Red Wedding.
And I'm going to be honest, this season was pretty much a bore with the exception of those two major occurrences. There were a few exciting things scattered here and there (Hound/Beric fight, Jamie/Brienne interaction, etc)...but it was a pretty slow season.
And along Dany's storyline, there is plenty of fighting, dragon interactions, and sexual tension to be of enough interest in a TV show as long as it is condensed.6/5/2013 10:31:03 AM |

jbrick83 All American 23447 Posts user info edit post |
I still liked it, but last season was a little faster paced.
I also don't think you can accurately predict that the next seasons will be boring/slow because of the books. I think they're going to [have to] condense a lot...especially with Dany. I have faith that the show creators will be able to keep everyone's attention. 6/5/2013 11:16:16 AM |

Tyrion made it over to Essos in a couple of chapters. The only thing that Dany needs to do is find and or build ships and she is in Westeros 6/5/2013 11:44:24 AM |
