^Depends honestly.
The bribery would still be illegal, but I don't know if you'd have the defrauding of the Federal government. If they aren't asking for financial assistance for any of the players, then I don't think they could hit them with that. They could still say the coaches were costing the team potentially millions of dollars in fallout from NCAA sanctions I guess. 9/27/2017 11:07:13 AM |

Looking forward to reading the UNC fans many responses to this scandal. They will treasure the chance to be able to look down on anyone or anything and pass judgments. Just some more hypocrisy and idiocy to soak up from the UNC fanbase 9/27/2017 11:20:51 AM |

Quote : | "In 2000, the Kansas City-based Piggie had built the nation’s strongest AAU program, armed with star recruits from across the Midwest such as JaRon and Kareem Rush, Korleone Young, Corey Maggette, Earl Watson and Mike Miller.
Now he found himself seated, with a lawyer at his side, across a conference table from the FBI. The feds had him over a barrel thanks to a weapons charge that, because he was already a felon, carried an automatic nine-year sentence. To get that wiped out, prosecutors said he had to plead guilty to funneling money to the players, according to Piggie.
Yet there was a twist. Roll up on everyone else, Piggie said he was told, from college coaches to Nike officials, and the case would soften.
“They said they’d give me probation,” Piggie told Yahoo Sports on Tuesday." |
I absolutely believe this will happen.9/27/2017 11:36:03 AM |

Yeah it's in the reports that rival shoe companies were also doing the same thing. Also it clearly isn't limited to adidas schools when the assistants who were arrested were from 3 Nike schools and a UA school.
So far the known schools involved are Arizona (Nike), Auburn (UA), Louisville (adidas), Miami (adidas), Oklahoma State (Nike), USC-east (UA), USC-west(Nike) 9/27/2017 11:56:25 AM |

Gatto, Code, Dawkins and Sood worked together to funnel 100,000 from Company 1 to the family of a high school player (Player 10) in exchange for Player 10's commitment at University 6.
Gatto, Code, Dawkins, and Augustine agreed to make payments of as much as $150,000 from Company 1 to another player (Player 12) to University 7 as well as signing with Company 1 when he turned professional.

Quote : | "I can tell you with absolute certainty that Duke has zero to be concerned with. " | I'm assuming this is just internet posturing. Very few schools have zero to be concerned with, including ours. Duke went from losing ALL of their top priority recruiting battles in the early 2000's to being a one and done machine for the top recruits.
And you're telling me that, without a doubt, these players chose to play for Duke for free over schools who were offering $100,000 and the same exposure to the NBA?9/27/2017 12:43:06 PM |
