^Savage Edge or Marlin XL7. Both extremely accurate, and under $300 new.

yeah, i'm really digging savage's stuff here lately.

this will be for the lady and i'm having a hard time convincing her that a browning just isn't worth the money, especially no more accurate than they are.

Applied for my pistol permit and can go pick it up on Tuesday. I'm looking for something decent to get proficient with and put a lot of rounds through. A 9 mm seems pretty desirable as ammo looks like it's about $10-$12 for a box of 50. Anyone have anything they would be looking to get rid of after next Tuesday? Thanks.

Suggestions are also more than welcome. Anything wrong with a Ruger P95 9 mm as a first sidearm to learn with?

9 is a great round to start on. cheap and deadly.

I'm not familiar with that particular pistol, but I'd say gg on looking at full-size to start with.

I've got a Springfield XD-40 (shot the 9 a lot too) and I absolutely love it. Best thing to do is just go hold them and shoot them when you can (PDHSC typically has an OK rental collection).

Anyone interested in a ruger 10/22? Its the older version with the metal receiver.

Has a collapsible Tapco AR style pistol grip stock, a 4x32 sightmark mildot scope (its a POS), and i have the original wood stock and retainer clip.

Has 3 mags (one 10 round factory, one 30 round butler creek banana mag, and a 50 round magpul drum mag)

I have had a hard time getting the magpul drum to feed properly. Sometimes it will, sometimes it wolnt. I think it might need to be filed down slightly.

They've all still got metal receivers.
The new ones have plastic trigger housings and a different receiver finish, but still aluminum.

Marlin 39A 1952 model. Great condition, bluing and wood in excellent shape. Mag tube band is a little loose, but everything else works great. Accurate as hell.

Asking $400 FTF in Youngsville or Raleigh.

looking for something nice and reliable for some home protection. leaning more towards a pistol rather than a shotgun. one of my good friends that works as a police officer has already offered me a deal on his personal Remington 12 gauge, so i have that option already covered. any suggestions or direction for a firearm nooby?

thanks t-dub!

Yeah a shotgun will cover everything you need. I picked on up not long ago at a pawn shop for $185 out the door. They have plenty like it at pawn shops all over the place.

The shotgun is a great idea and can handle slugs as well as shot, and the rack of the slide is a nonlethal warning. But only if you rent. That way you can move. Blood soaks into hardwood and plaster/sheet-rock, and will have to be cut out. The stench will not go away.

If you own, a tube fed, semi auto 22 rifle with a 15-17 round capacity gets my vote (125-175). Your wife-unit won't be scared of the recoil, you have additional range in case of a zombie attack, you can practice for pennies, and it is still considered a 'squirrel rifle' if you have to go to court.

"lol you'd be better off using the .22 as a club"

Actually the 22, though designed for a powder burn of 20", will go through a Raleigh Yellow Pages soaking wet. I have tried to do the same with No. 7-4 shot, and #4 buck with noHollow point makes a pretty good spit ball. And, you can miss with a shotgun.

Then you can use either as a club, unless you have bayonet lug!

well, if your house gets attacked by wet phone books, you're set

personally, i like a round that's gonna do more damage and deliver more energy into the target

that's why i load 00 buck in my shotgun

I don't think anyone would recommend using #4 buck or smaller for HD anyway, so comparing it with .22 is really pointless. 00 buck or slugs are the preference I think, neither of which are even in the same performance ballpark as .22lr.

A hi-cap semi-auto .22 rifle can do a lot of damage in a short amount of time. You can pull the trigger as fast as you want and never lose your point of aim. The tough part would be explaining why you chose such a small caliber that you would feel the need to shoot him 15 times in 3 seconds.

I think a good compromise, to gain the advantage of low recoil and easy point of aim with a long gun, is to get a short carbine in a handgun caliber. It still has next to no recoil, fires 9mm/.40/45, and is usually more accurate than a handgun if used without sights in the stress of a situation.

Oh look, I have a short-barreled .40 carbine for sale on the previous page

12 ga. is definitely the best, but it's not for everyone.

Would 15 rounds of .22lr fuck up a baddie? Yes. Is it better than nothing? Yes. If you have the option of using 00 Buck in a 12ga should you? Yes.

I would not hesitate to pick up a .22 rifle if that was all I had to kill an intruder with. However, with all the assortment of guns I have in my room, if someone comes in I will either pick up my 12ga with 00 buck, or my .45.

That being said, someone please buy my Kimber or Marlin

^No there is not. Making $ is cool.

But please don't try to tell me your Kimber was worth anything close to 1000. I am glad you made some $ on the project, but don't pretend that just because it was a low production count that it is more valuable than new MSRP only a few years later. Rarely will a gun appreciate in only a few years. Especially when it has been used and when you only paid 700 for it.

I am just trying to help people get a "fair" price. Don't get me wrong, it is a beautiful gun and I would have happily bought it for $750.

^Find me a Kimber Eclipse Ultra for sale for less than $900, IN STOCK. Also, find me a Eclipse ULE II *at all*. You wont find one.

Had I been willing to wait a little longer, I would have gotten $1000 for it. Its not so much about what something is worth, its about what someone is willing to pay. For people that appreciate low production guns, or a gun that their other range buddies dont have, its worth $1000.

Now back to your regularly scheduled programming...

I did own a Glock Model 27 .40 caliber pistol, but I sold it a couple of months ago. I am very interested in buying another pistol, but after looking here, I haven’t seen a whole lot for sale. I must say that Kimber on the previous page tears at my heart, I would love to buy that gun. If you have a pistol you are wanting to sell, I’d love to hear about it. I am looking for .40, .45, and .357 calibers. Thanks!

Hi everyone,

I've got an unfired S&W M&P Compact in .40. It has a thumb safety, factory Trijicon night sights, no mag safety, 3 magazines (one with flat baseplate). Also includes box and manuals, lock, fired shell casing with 4/2010 datestamp on the envelope.

Asking $500.

Feel free to ask any questions.
