i teared up

louie is such a good actor that you can see in his eyes that he's thinking about how his life has come full circle, as he is now in the same situation with his daughter that his mother was in with him ~35 years ago.

it was pretty fucking amazing how that episode walked the very tricky line of essentially having the plot of an after-school special, yet being believable still and not melodramatic.

"“I hated being a teenager,” C.K. said before launching into what would basically become “In the Woods” in 2011’s Live at the Beacon Theater. “And then I discovered drugs, and then that’s allll I gave a shit about. I don’t know how I’m gonna tell my kids — how the fuck do you compete with that? How do you take a miserable person with no control over their lives, and tell them with a straight face, ‘Aw, ya can’t do drugs. You can’t do that, baby. All drugs are is a perfect solution to every problem you have right now.’ How do you beat that? Drugs are soo fucking good … that they’ll ruin your life.” Even in the brief stand-up bit, C.K. was starting to ponder how hard it is to be truly honest with your kids about drugs."

I saw some people were butt hurt over the leaked stand up set from December. I checked it out and no regrets. Pretty funny

The dude was accused of some disgusting, reprehensible actions, and he owned up to it. He acknowledged he abused his power over the women and expressed his remorse for his actions.

It was fucked up. He owned it.

Now he is trying to salvage whatever is left of his career, and he's getting destroyed for material that is -- frankly -- not near as tasteless or edgy as any of his previous material.

Just listen to his 2010 album Hilarious.

Quote :
"I'm 41. Maybe I'll do the second half gay. I don't know, it remains an option. There's got to be something to it. Those folks are having a good time. They have parades. There are no parades for how I get laid. They have parades; marching down the street to celebrate that they blow each other and fuck each other in the ass, smush their vaginas together -- or whatever that one is."

Quote :
"I'm curious what their kid looks like because they're so beautiful. Maybe I want to fuck their kid, I don't know.
That's just me saying something terrible because it makes me laugh that it upsets you. That's all that is, just so you know. It's just enjoyable to me that you're upset, that's all it is.
I'm not gonna fuck a kid. I wouldn't do that. Maybe a dead kid. Who are you hurting? He's dead. Who are you hurting? I'm not saying I would kill a kid and fuck him. I'm saying if I found a dead kid in a field and it wasn't raining, I might take a shot. I don't know, I haven't been in that situation."

"I called American Airlines, and I got a Pakistani lady, and she was in Pakistan.
Only people near my fat, white body should have jobs. I'll tell you what, though, when I call American Airlines and I get the Pakistani lady, I hang up and I call again. I do.
I'm gonna tell you honestly, and it's not because I don't like her, and it's not because she doesn't speak English, 'cause she speaks way better than I do. She's just a better person -- it's so clear.
Here's why I don't like talking to her. 'Cause I know she doesn't give a shit about me and my white people problems. I want to talk to the lady from Texas.""

Motherfucker has won multiple Emmy awards for saying more fucked up shit than what was in that leaked recording.

So, you want to be pissed at him for some really terrible things he did to five women some time ago? I get it. Personally, I believe he is remorseful for his actions. But to be pissed at him for "controversial" material written by one of the more controversial comics of our time? Get out of here with that nonsense. No one is seeing Louis C.K. for a family-friendly show.

Dude made no attempts to apologize or make amends to the people he harmed and the careers hes ruined.

It's pretty weird to see that someone has committed sexual assault and after decades of harmful coverups he's like "woops my bad" and everyone is supposed to move on?

IMO, this is owning up to it.

I understand mine is an unpopular opinion, though.

Sounds like at least one of the victims was satisfied with his response as well.

I was a big Louis fan, have seen him live twice. His leaked material is lame, and he doesn’t seem remotely remorseful or self aware about his actions.

And it’s not that I don’t believe in giving people a chance. He references what happened to him with scorn, and he mocks the concept of accountability and changing norms. It’s not becoming of a good comedian.

Moshe Kasher is a better comedian who can be edgy.

I went to his show last night at Raleigh Improv (which is actually in Cary/Morrisville). He was alright - definitely trying out new material and not honed in as much as he would be for a HBO/Netflix/Comedy Central special. This is the second time I've seen him live (first was on a cruise ship when I was like 15).

He was pretty upfront about what he did and how his life has been in the past year and addressed the elephant in the room immediately. He mentioned that he lost something like $30m last year as a result of it. What did surprise me is that the set had a lot of jokes that were sexual in nature. Maybe I'm just noticing it more since everything came out against him, but I thought he'd be more sensitive on those types of topics.

One thing he mentioned is that if you take a clip from one of his shows, which takes place in a venue/time/place where people are agreeing to hear some fucked up shit, and then you take a piece of it and air it on daytime television, etc. it's just going to come off terribly. He basically said "I'm fucked up in the head and am here to say fucked up shit and you all agreed to be a part of that, and if you don't like it you can leave, but I'm still going to stand up here and say it because that's who I am".

Indy's unprofessional, vengeful review from a writer who went to the show fully expecting and planning to write a negative review.

WRAL's review from a writer who acknowledges he is a long-time fan, but that this "tour" is coming a bit too soon.

"Whether or not you are going to support Louis C.K. in the future is totally up to you. It seems early for him to be back out on the road, but what hit me is that a lot of his jokes aren’t that different from the ones he was telling when we all agreed that he was a genius. If you are offended by what he did, that is fine. We agree, and we probably agree that listening to him joke about it is uncomfortable, but the ... jokes about various groups that aren’t in the majority or go against social norms? I mean, you might want to go check the tape of what you were laughing about before."
