That comment was more just in general about RJR declaring time of death for the industry in the midst of a huge re-emergence of covid. Plus green knight isn't exactly avengers. I can't speak to Sunday noon vs other times.

^This is what I'm talking about.

More and more people are going to choose to just stay home. Going to blockbusters, even before the pandemic, was a chore for many....dealing with rude people talking, cell-phoning, etc. Then pack on the 'rona and it's (going to be) never ending variants.

Yea nope.

Until we view COVID like the flu, then people aren't going to see movies in theaters in huge numbers.

I miss movies like crazy. I love the big screen and I like going out and doing things.

The theaters I'd been favoring in the past recent years were places like Cinebistro, Alamo, Chelsea or the Carolina. So not exactly these giant multiplexes like Crossroads or Raleigh Grande. One of the last things I saw was Miyazaki's "Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind" at the Carolina and 1917 at Cinebistro.

No fucking way they would have felt as grand and immersive sitting on my couch. And while it might be cheaper if you've got a family or something, $30 for Black Widow is a loss for me.

People fucking suck and that's no lie. But living in a four-walled world for all my entertainment needs just makes me depressed and reeks of dystopia.

But it looks like that's just the way this world is heading. It's really only a matter of time before you get VR/AR goggles and a tube to eat and poop through.

I like going to see movies in theaters, but i hate going to crowded ones. Hearing people laugh/scream/talk ruins the experience for me.

Makes me miss where i used to live, where i could go see any movie on a weeknight (even a brand new blockbuster like star wars or a marvel flick) and at most there might be 10 people watching the same movie as me. Many times I was by myself. That was heaven.

I would rather watch something at home than watch it on a crowded ass theater.

I hope it's the same tube

I would always wait weeks (with the exception of any Star Wars release) to go see a movie so I wouldn't have to deal with the crowd.

it was a beautiful visual poem

doesn't surprise me that it scored so high with critics and scored only like 57% with audiences, tho"

it was quite pretty to look at. it just didn’t do it for me, though

I much preferred the version from In a Dark, Dark Room and Other Scary Stories

Minari was good but not sure it lived up to the hype.

Promising Young Woman was also pretty good

I tried Reminiscence but turned it off about 30 min in. So much voiceover

The Hitman's Bodyguard (2017) was pretty entertaining. I will probably give the sequel a watch at some point.

^I enjoyed it too. Partially because I'm a big fan of horror movies and the original Halloween is one of my favorites. Yes, a lot of the people in the movie make dumb decisions, but if you view it for what it is -- a classic slasher movie, it isn't that far-fetched. At first I thought the whole part about the people trying to kill the escapee who was clearly NOT Michael Myers was kinda dumb, but the more I thought about it, the more it showed how harmful mob mentality can be.

Have watched “Army of Thieves” and “The Harder they Fall” on Netflix this week and thoroughly enjoyed both. At times while watching the latter today I found me asking myself, “is this movie awesome”?

^^it was entertaining but I swear it was one of the most ADHD movies ever just 100 things going on, at various levels of necessary. Like all of Cate Blanchett character for example. Or like the kids at the cell phone release thing, what was that about?

think the kids thing was a way of showing how the ultra wealthy/awful can use kids as a human shield to distract from how destructive they are

The Card Counter is very weird. The movie looks good but the dialogue is kinda goofy and the plot is all over the place.

I got around to watching Richard Jewell and thought it was actually pretty decent. I'm a pretty big Sam Rockwell fan

(I wasn't expecting much, since Eastwood's Gran Torino was terrible, and based on the trailers, his Cry Macho looks even worse)
