I think this team definitely has some element of sharing the ball and defensive intensity that hasn't been there the last two years (Joiner >>>>>>>>> Cam), but I won't buy in totally until next week when we see whether this translates to real competition.

Even last year our shit team was beating the cupcakes handily. As has been the case since Keatts has been there, when we are turning it over, the fast break is beautiful. And against the shit teams that happens often, but the half-court offense still doesn't look great. Having a real distributor in Joiner and a big man who can score will likely help, but there just isn't much movement off the ball.

Last year we beat Bucknell by 18. That was our largest margin of victory all year.

^^ never said blowing out. We did win most of those fairly easily. We also only beat campbell this season by 6 in a close game.

All I am saying is the obvious--that our scoring looks a lot better against bad teams because they turn the ball over and it always has since Keatts has been here. When we play good teams, we are gonna have to beat people in the half court sometimes.

The additions of Joiner, who is a much better scorer and creator than Cam was, and our bigs, who are actually an offensive threat, do provide some hope that our half court offense could be better. So far in the games I have watched, the half court offense (when we are forced to slow down) has looked pretty stagnant with no off ball movement outside of a single high screen which is a Keatts specialty. To be fair, we do seem to share the ball more.

I get what you’re saying. This year is far too small of a sample size to draw anything from. But I think I’m correct in saying that we did struggle with the cupcakes last year.

Tied at 40 with Bucknell at half last year.
Beat Colgate by 3
Down 1 to Central Connecticut at half.
Down 3 to Texas Southern at half.
Beat La Tech by 9, up 8 at half.
Up 5 on Bethune Cookman at half.

We lost to Richmond and Wright St. We didn’t easily handle many OOC teams last year.

I think this might be Keatts’ best team yet. The T/Joiner backcourt is $$$ and as long as our bigs (plus Morsell) keep progressing, we should be pretty damn solid. ACC appears down as well so that’s nice.
