As someone who uses the Late Night theme, I had no idea there was supposed to be any cursor glow at all, and it's never done it before.

^^yes there's an ad block now.
I decided to try out chrome. It's still much slower than firefox with ad block plus, but I'll install the Chrome ad block and see if that speeds it up.
Why aren't the favicons showing up in my bookmarks bar? FF/IE shows each website icon, chrome just shows blank white pages. This might be a deciding factor. I don't want a bookmarks bar with a bunch of white icons on it.
-another annoying thing. the url bar wouldn't search by default. I had to go to options, then default search then create a search using:
http://www.google.com/#hl=en&source=hp&q=%s&aq=f&aqi=&oq=&fp=cbc2f75bf9d43a8f
This seems really stupid. Why wouldn't it search google by default?

sure there is. doesn't matter if that's what you do or not. For example, I often build-up 30-40 tabs at a time when using Google Reader - i'll quickly go through my unread Google Reader items, and I'll ctrl+click the ones I want to read so they'll open in the background. Then i'll just work through the tabs one at a time and close them when I'm done, either right then or throughout the day.
^^ no, that's a real bug/nitpick. At least on Chrome on Mac, there is a glow beneath the cursor when mousing over inactive tabs. In this image (even though the cursor is hidden in the screenshot), I am hovering over the 'o' in the Amazon.com tab. it is inactive in the background, behind the TWW tab. 90% of the time, the glow follows the cursor around inside the inactive tabs (it doesn't change the active tab), but occasionally it doesn't show up and I can't exactly reproduce when or why. It's not a loss of functionality, but it's a real example of a nitpick, unlike the tab overflow problems

slower? Chrome seems run a good bit faster for me than Firefox. With ad block, ietab and mouse gestures, I don't see myself using another browser.

Most of my bookmarks display the little icon but there's a few with just the little white page.

Google’s Chrome browser has only been on the market for 16 months, but it has already taken a good share of the market and beat out Safari for the number three spot. Safari, for the first time ever, is now ranked fourth. By the end of December, Chrome was up at 4.63% market share whereas Safari fell to about 4.46%. Of course, the big boost likely came from the fact that Chrome Beta became officially available for Mac and Linux. Top dogs are still Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Internet Explorer, with IE8 still at the top but failing to see any real growth. So tell us, what browser are you currently using and why (speed, extensions, apps, etc)?" |

Logmein doesn't work well in Chrome. First of all when you try to fullscreen logmein it just fullscreens it within the chrome window, not actually full screening. There's a few other bugs too. Anyone found a work around? I don't want to have to bring up IE or FF just for logmein.
-also my multitouch forward/back on my touchpad don't work in chrome but work in IE and FF.

Still waiting on Silverlight/Netflix Instant Watch support.
Also for some reason anchors don't work in Chrome. That's annoying.
All that being said, I still use it as my main browser. 1/16/2010 1:00:09 AM |

Some more issues I have. Logmein still doesn't work just right with full screen. Also Chrome's full screen option sucks. Nothing pops up when it's full screened like FF so unless you know all the shortcuts for forward/back etc you can't do anything. I know that's big a big complaint among reviewers.
Also I opened a big forum on both chrome and FF and it was almost impossible to scroll fluidly or at all using Chrome whereas on FF the scrolling worked fine. Also for some reason Flash beta 10.1 isn't loading videos that well on Chrome compared to FF.
Chrome also uses a lot more ram than FF on my netbook. I want to use it as my main browser but until all these problems are fixed i'll stick with FF. 1/21/2010 7:02:50 PM |

^not if you're using a laptop. Easiest way to back/forward is with the pad (assuming you're already using the pad while browsing). Backspace would involve moving your entire right hand to the backspace then back to the pad. Instead of just using the pad. 3/1/2010 10:39:40 PM |

ive noticed a weird problem with crome + tww (but i'm sure it only happens to me)
when i click pretty much any internal link on tww, after the page fully loads, the load animation thing keeps going for another 3-5 seconds, and while that's happening, i can't do anything...can't type in the reply box, can't page down, can't click another link etc...until the page stops "loading" (even though the page is fully loaded already)
don't notice this same behavior in any other browser, and i've tried reinstall the latest release and beta versions, but no dice *sigh* 3/1/2010 10:44:26 PM |

Lately, TWW is killing me on chrome. Nearly every page I go to causes it to crash. I can reload and it usually loads right up. Occasionally it will crash again but never 3 times in a row. As soon as I get done and hit back, it'll usually crash again. Actually, not crash but that damn "Aw Snap" error page. I haven't changed anything recently (when it started). I've narrowed it down to some kind of ad or something that's affecting AdThwart. It runs perfectly if I disable it.
MBP running 10.6.2 Chrome 5.0.335.0 dev
Anybody using something other than AdThwart & AdBlock that works and doesn't cause TWW fuck-ups? (Note that I haven't noticed an issue at work running on Vista)

^Ok, I thought it was just me, but yes, same problems but on Chrome 4.1.x and I'm not running AdThwart--although I am running AdBlock
It's definitely an ad (or ads?) that's crashing it, I just haven't spent the time to verify who the culprits are.

I just don't feel like getting use to another browser. I try Chrome every now and then, but I just can tide over to it. Word on the block is that IE9 has really stepped its game, and personally I'm an IE fan, so maybe I can make this switch if its as good as they say it is. The thing I like about FF so much is kinda trivial, and that is you can just have the favicon of your bookmarked site on your live bookmark bar without having to have text beside it saying what it is, and this saves lots of space, and its more aesthetic to me.

Just curious but what about IE makes you a fan? That is, what pre-IE8 made you a fan at all? I guess I've always looked at browsers from both a user and a developer's point of view which is why I've never liked IE.

I felt the same way for some time until I started diving deeper into the developer tools for both safari and chrome. They are both pretty much the exact same thing. I am really liking that better than Firebug for most things although Firebug translates javascript errors better still. The resources tab is really helpful.
