Adding A&M means that SEC games would be inserted into the Houston area market more with regional coverage. That's the driving force. More tvs set to watch SEC games and less to Big 12 games as ESPN sets which households have access to which games. I just don't know that VT would effect the DC regional allocation that much. I'm assuming the DC region is set to ACC via Maryland and UVA not so much VT. How much more regional share did the ACC pull from the Big East when VT joined the ACC in the DC market?

I would say that VT has as strong if not stronger following in the DC market than any other school, including Maryland. Their support is rabid.

I guess my point is that, if the choice is between adding a school that's in a large TV market or adding a school that has passionate fans and good teams, you're better off taking the latter regardless of where they're located. We added two schools that while in large TV markets, don't have passionate fans or consistent teams, and I think the conference has suffered.

That being said, VT has great fans and good teams, and would be a great fit for the SEC. Just saying that it's because of those traits, not necessarily because of proximity to DC...

It's pretty even, but dont forget about Penn St.(and the Big East), which has a larger following in DC than any of the other schools. DC is such a fractured market. But of all the schools they are considering, FSU and VT makes the most sense. I have no idea why they are considering Clemson.

And I agree, if we lose FSU or VT, Swofford should be fired immediately.

I have a feeling that the SEC and Texas A&M are dead serious about this move, but I just remember how many rumors there were about super conferences a year or so ago, and the only move that happened was Nebraska to the Big Ten

Clemson can't win more than 7 games a year in the ACC, despite being preseason darlings every single time

They're a football fanbase, though, and by far the worst basketball school in the conference

They wouldn't win a lot in the SEC, but it's certainly more their style

Not necessarily. I'd be willing to take our lumps in the SEC is that means that we have to fully commit to athletics, especially football. More money and exposure would put this state on lockdown for football talent. And NC produces a good amount of talent.

^^ I disagree. I think it would help them eventually. NC has a LOT of talent and State would get more of it than they do now probably from just being in the SEC. I see them being at least on par with Ole Miss, South Carolina (typical South Carolina, not the SC of the last 2 years). They would be better than Vandy and Kentucky

Well I happen to think NC State is making more of a commitment now, but when Fowler was at the wheel mediocrity was ok. We'll see how Yow handles things.

But if you look at the financial breakdown of the money that SEC schools spend and make in comparison with ACC schools, it's not even close. That includes things like indoor practice facilities, coach's and assistant coach's salaries, etc. I think we are on par with Mississippi State and Kentucky, but that's about it. The other SEC schools blow us away.

I would say 90% of NCSU fanbase would be in favor of moving to the SEC. 2nd place ACC gets Peach Bowl and 5th place SEC gets Peach Bowl. SEC would help us tremendously in recruiting and distance us even farther over UNC in football.

The difference in SEC football and ACC football is much greater than SEC basketball and ACC basketball. Kentucky, Florida, Tennessee are regulars in the NCAA and Florida has recently won back to back titles. No ACC football team has even sniffed a title in the last 5 years.

Plus I would much rather lose to LSU, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Alabama, Auburn, instead of losing to fucking Boston College. Come on.

If you want NCSU to join the SEC b/c of better gameday parties (on the road) and to be in a weaker basketball conference, then go ahead & pull for us to move to the SEC

If you don't want 6-6 to be considered a good season in football for State, then you should pull against us moving to the SEC. Also, I'd bank on us getting put on probation within the first 5 years of joining the SEC

Florida, sure, they have a strong program. Boston College won 20 games last year, you know. LSU lost 20. UGA and Bama are traditionally pretty weak. Who was the State player that transferred to Auburn? That's the only thing I know about their program. SEC basketball is so fucking bad.
