thinkin about a CPO bmw x5 35d. 8000lbs tow capacity. I could DD this and sell the 540 and the truck and pull the bikes to the track

shorter wheelbase is generally better for towing. also, an x5 weighs 5200lbs

Oh I'm in your boat, but it's a fair comparison against other 6 figure (or 7 figure) performance cars. Sure a Bugatti Veyron is probably more reliable but you could buy this car 10 times over for one Veyron

yeah but most people spending 200k+ on a car do it for fallic enhancement.

and lets face it... even an enzo owner would walk over and be like... fuck that's awesome to a veyron and not even look twice at the gtr.

I personally would rather have the gtr because for that speed and money... lets face it... its pretty much as big of a sleeper as a cts-v wagon.

But i just don't trust it to last that long... even with AMS doing the work.

bahhhhhh, maybe for turning, but general towing comfort/control is usually netted from longer trucks (in the pick-up truck world)

My car... still trying to decide if i should throw 6k into a car i'll only be able to get 8k out of for an sti transmission swap... But i need a new clutch and if my tranny lets go with the big clutch i'm going to be like FUCKKKK!!!

its not like i'm really going to get rid of it... but i'll be pissed if someone totals it.

my insurance won't let me insure it on an appraised value as my daily driver.

Then.... to FMIC or not to FMIC... Which goes with to CAI or not to CAI (because the FMIC pipes go where the stock airbox is)

what draw is a "sleeper" ? driving like a jackass street light to street light? successfully not pulling hoes? simulating the effect of a black hole on your wallet?

What draw is a flashy ride that won't perform up to the sum of it's "visible" mods? give me a sleeper over that any day. Some of us cant help but spend our money on our vehicles, some choose flash, others choose the "go". No shame in surprising some slow fuckers.

and the same rhetorical questions could be posed to the vast majority of those who drive 'flashy' vehicles...no?

...id rather have a subdued looking subie with 4xx whp than one that looks like a hot-wheels car with only 2xx whp...

i wasnt suggesting making the car look nice either. i was suggesting buying a better car to start with. for instance, I could buy a camaro and spend a ton of cash making it handle, stop, and go faster, or I could just buy a vette. I would clearly choose the vette. instead of trying to hook up a legacy with all these sti parts, why not buy an sti? if the sti isnt good enough with very minor mods, buy a better starting platform.

basically buy whatever most closely suits your goals, don't start a million parts and man hours away by choosing to polish a turd to get to that goal

i see what you are saying, however in my mind it's more akin to same-model comparison... like mustang GT upgraded to perform better than GT500, etc....I do not condone the building of a fwd civic as a 'drag strip hustler', if you will.

However, as I am a fool for the diesel engine, it brings me no more pleasure than seeing a stock appearing & sounding extended cab 4x4 truck peel out a 11.xx quarter and blister it's opponent.

"speak softly and carry a big stick"

this is how i drive, how i choose my vehicle.

Simply, i like my car and it's not a turd. it looks better than any other car with the 2.5 in it.
I like having more room, nicer interior and not look like i'm driving around a 5 year old's car.

You can troll all you want but i like my car so much that even though it's time to get a new one... there really isn't a new car i want right now... well other then the cts-v wagon... and i don't really have 75k to drop this year... maybe in the next few now that the wife is working too but right now we're looking 30-40... and there really isn't anything i can buy that i will like better then my car.

(that is 4 doors and as quick to drive)

and mr. crim... you can say what you want... but my turd started brighter then yours. asshat.

p.s. driving a stock car is just... boring... congrats you drive exactly what everyone else with $XX,XXX can drive.

"Mazda to debut MX-5 Miata GT Concept, looking for feedback

Does the idea of a Mazda MX-5 Miata with 205 horsepower – a useful bump over the stocker's 167 ponies – sound like a good idea? How about one with an upgraded suspension, carbon fiber front splitter, rear diffuser and spoiler?

Still not good enough for you? Fine. Throw in a free-flowing exhaust with single center-mounted tailpipe, body-color roll hoops, sticky tires and a pair of Recaro seats. If we're describing the Miata of your dreams, we suggest you tell Mazda how you feel – this exact machine, dubbed the MX-5 Miata GT Concept, will be on display at the 2012 Goodwood Festival of Speed, where it will make a run up the hill.

Mazda says it's "seeking customer reaction" to the hotted-up sports car, which it says is inspired by its MX-5 GT race car. Mazda: We speak for all when we say, "If you build it, we will come." Also on display at Goodwood will be the Mazda Takeri Concept and the company's new CX-5 crossover."

Sounds pretty awesome to me, though I'm disappointed that they STILL won't throw a turbo motor under the hood. And of course I highly doubt that this would ever cost less than $30k, at which point my interest is all but gone.

^^ turd is a regular term here, don't get all butt hurt. there are tons of quick 4 doors out there. I like my 540 a lot and for a while though about selling it just to get a newer one or an m5 but the car's price is just too inflated to find mint examples and I could have someone like a cayman for just a little more. I'm not trolling, I'm just saying that the VAST majority of the time, it's a lot cheaper and more effective to let the car company do the engineering and you do some minor tweaks to really uncork it, than to try and build something yourself. you pay more and get less car and 10x the headache

I don't roast my tires ever :-)

Although I almost always agree that money is way better spent by buying the right platform THE first time, there is definite fun in seeing 400whp legacy or built big turbo 325i, S85 E30, RB26 s13/s14 etc. Matter of fact on e90post there is a sweet supercharged Z4. I’d never buy it, but love seeing this giant twin screw just stuffed under the hood with ugly stock rim and exterior.

Then again I don’t mind talking loudly and carrying a big stick

seriously... my car is faster then the average modded sti... and is dead nuts reliable with 170,000 miles on it.

If you want to know how much faster it is... i'll figure out a way to show you once i have a clutch that hold the power better in 4th & 5th

but just to give you an idea... my turbo flows 700cfm and a stock sti's flows 435cfm.

I don't really care for e36s lately, i'm sure the e36 m3 will out perform the fuck out of the ZHP e46, but I think the e46 looks a little better.

e30 sedans are growing on me though. I've never really liked sedans period before like 3 days ago. pretty much the only one I've considered owning was a e34 m5, but I couldn't find any close enough.

I think my biggest problem right now is I'm regretting buying an automatic transmission car.

E46s look girly to me for what ever reason.

Obviously this doesn't include the m3 model.

But even it looks girlie compared to the newer m cars.

Some colors look a little ~ but most e46s I've seen I wouldn't classify as girly. I love the post-facelift coupes, especially with angel eye kits.

"The Formula Cross YFC 450, a rally kart based on the Yamaha YFZ 450 ATV from 2002-2013, has been priced at $7,500, but that's for the build-it-yourself kit and doesn't include taxes or shipping. If you want Formula Cross to put it together for you, something you might want to consider since the kit includes 40 items plus hardware, that will be an extra $1,350 after you've delivered it to their facility.

However, Formula Cross touts that every bit of their creation is customizable, so if you've got time you could have some fun wrenching your own creation – and we're told there's no welding required. The wet weight has gone up since the initial announcement, from 495 pounds to 620 pounds "on certain models," but that shouldn't stop the fun.

To get in line with a pre-order will run you $2,500, and the first deliveries are scheduled to leave the building in November. This being a completely new animal, however, we wouldn't be surprised if specs, dates and prices come in for revision before then. "
