I think you guys overestimate the capability of humans being perfect. This type of shit happens all the time which is why there are so many levels of safeguards in place when it comes to launching a retaliatory strike.

I also find it funny when people spend a lot of time talking about how imperfect Americans are and then when something like this happens suddenly it isn't the imperfections that caused it. Instead it's some grand conspiracy.

Must really suck living at that level of paranoia.

To you and I it would suck to live with that level of paranoia. It’s comforting to these folks. It’s a coping mechanism when they believe that they can’t control their life.

you allow it to happen and support a system that would send an innocent 16 year old to a prison without trial that is already torturous to audlts. You standby and let it happen making you no better than anyone else yet you want to deprive and/or murder the people of another country simply because their leadership does something similar. hypocrite.

Actually, no. I asked your nationality because I thought you were an American...and a hypocrite blaming all Americans for America's faults while somehow absolving yourself of any of your own responsibility.

And whaddayaknow...I was right!

I don't see anyone else on this board speaking out against the sanctions that have punished the poor for the regime's actions. Everyone is either sitting idly or actively defending US policy.

I also don't see anyone suggesting we sanction the US economy which would be the alternative, non-hypocritical position.

Although I participate in enabling the great injustices, I don't believe that people should be punished for simply being a part of the society they grew up in. I don't feel like going through this thread, but that has essentially been said about the North Korean people.

Cool, so instead of continuing to report on Saudi Arabia attacking us(doesn't fit the agenda), CNN prefers to glorify a terrorist for olympic fear mongering stemming from alleged DPRK involvement in an attack that happened 30 years ago.

Every person who’s enacted change, that I can think of, has had numerous flaws.

Ignoring obvious injustice bc we are deeply flawed is dumb and what you’re saying is regressive.

i responded to half of your post. the first half could easily be applied to kim il song. he enacted a lot of change in the name of social justice but North koreas regime has "flaws".

You call american inacted injustice "flaws" to try and minimize it. I guess its a coping mechanism to help you sleep at night. Either that or the consumption of controled education and media has prevented you from hearing about the injustice that takes place in/by your own country.

There is a huge difference between calling out injustice and actively seeking to destroy an entire nation as a punitive response to said flaws.

I would go to a protest march, or vote a certain way, but i would never stoop as low as hurting people because injustice is taking place.

[Edited on January 23, 2018 at 5:25 PM. Reason : keep making excuses for americas "flaws" while killing koreans for their's]

I wonder what they will ask for in return for denuclearization. I think it would be reasonable to ask the US to withdraw troops from the korean peninsula and all nukes from the region along with the end of all sanctions and war games in return for denuclearization. That would be my starting point.

I think North Korea knows the talks will fall apart but could put the US in position look unreasonable and gain support from China and other players for "trying" to denuclearize.

Partial sanctions reduction for nukes. Complete sanctions reduction for human rights improvement. The rest of that is a non starter.

^What you posted is not anything different than previous policy. So for from CNN pundits, it ounds like its going to be a freeze on the nuclear program in exchange for normalization of relations.

A freeze is not anywhere close to denuclearization and I suspect is as far as DPRK will go. I’ve often wondered why we didn’t hear out nation-states in the past (yes I know the giving legitimacy argument) so I’m actually going to give Trump credit here for trying. Just don’t see him getting anything but rolled by Kim Jong Un.

a freeze has to happen before denuclearization. The language I heard quoted was "path to denuclearization of the entire peninsula" which would require the US to pullout as well. I was in the other room but i heard something about a freeze on S Korean/US war games in exchange. It would also be wise for DPRK to include denuclearization of Japan and Guam in that deal as well but I haven't heard anything else.

[Edited on March 8, 2018 at 8:11 PM. Reason : there aren't going to be any one-sided deals]
