Person B says "unlike him, I won't let Texas suffer."
So, Texas still gets what they want and Person A keeps his job. The tactic will continue to be used. Doesn't matter that a fellow GOPer called him out - it's a GOP tactic and it always works.8/29/2017 3:25:41 PM |

https://www.gq.com/story/joe-arpaio-history These stories of Joe's prisons are insane but I think they are the tip of the iceberg of what goes on in our prisons. People love to point at North Korea and their prisons but we have far more prisoners than anywhere else and can't hold our head high about the way we treat them. Most of the human dignity has been stripped away.
Even a pregnant woman was denied medical attention. Americans don't care. In fact, they support it because they know its happening to people they think are Mexicans, black or in gangs. 8/30/2017 9:32:01 AM |

If there is one thing that makes me want to throw myself into oncoming traffic it's listening to the GOP, and especially Trump, discuss taxes. The dumb flows freely.
Let's start with corporate taxes are choking innovation and investment:
The actual receipts as a % of GDP have hardly changed in 35 years. This issue is totally blown out of proportion IMO

When i read this earlier i forgot to ask how you know about what goes on in north korea
Quote : | "But it is not even in the same universe when compared with North Korea." |
Tell me more about this "different universe".Its always amazing to hear americans talk so confidently about how brutal the north korean prisons are when very few have been there. Credible information just doesn't exist. Theres no way you can be so confident.
No one else really knows anything about what goes on there and you are listening to a lot of propaganda on the subject. I'm not saying its not brutal over there (it is), but 100% of the information you get is from propaganda sources and should be taken with a grain of salt.
Quote : | "Consider the case of Matthew Todd Miller, a California man who in 2014 was sentenced to six years of forced labor in North Korea. Miller, who was released six months later, says he was actually treated rather well and even was allowed to keep his iPhone and iPad for at least a month. He listened to his digital music while in captivity.
"I was prepared for the torture. But instead of that, I was killed with kindness," he said in an interview with NK News.
Warmbier, 22, died Monday after coming back to the U.S. in a coma that lasted for 15 months of his North Korean captivity. The New York Times wrote that intelligence reports suggested Warmbier endured beatings, but doctors in the U.S. who examined him last week say his body shows no signs of physical trauma.
Miller, who was not much older than Warmbier at the time of his arrest, said he was held in what he described as a “guest house” – the same place where he said fellow American Kenneth Bae was being held. “They would deliver me food. There were other prisoners in the guest house, too. I could hear them unlocking the doors from the outside to deliver them food."" |

We do know all about places like abu ghraib, Guantanamo bay and rikers island though and there have been some insanely brutal examples, which I think its fair to say at best, are similar to the worst of what goes on in DPRK. We have well-documented sources and data on the brutality and disregard for human rights that takes place in America. It can't be debated.8/30/2017 7:38:16 PM |

According to Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Trump is going to donate $1 million to Harvey relief.
I want to say good for him...if he goes through with it (all the Trumpkins already flooding the internet congratulating him as if the money was already in the victims' hands and all the problems have been solved).
I also can't help but ask...why not say it himself? He could have been a real hero and made this pledge while he was in Houston, on national TV, in the company of the victims, and made a call for all other billionaires to do the same...you know, be a leader for once. Instead it came after he received so much crap for how he handled his trip, and put it out through someone else.
Defending his pardon to a racist deserved his face time, but not a $1 million donation to people who lost their homes. 8/31/2017 9:24:26 PM |

Quote : | "“It’s been really nice,” Trump said of the visit. “It’s been a wonderful thing. As tough as this was, it’s been a wonderful thing, I think even for the country to watch it and for the world to watch. It’s been beautiful.”
When Trump was asked about the flooding, he replied, “The flooding? Oh, yeah, yeah, there’s a lot of water, but it’s leaving pretty quickly. But there’s a lot of water, a lot of water, but it’s moving out.”
And as he was leaving the NRG Center, an emergency shelter for those displaced by the storm, Trump told survivors to “have a good time.”" |
Watch him say it by clicking above.

Once again, Donald Trump is a genius who is light years ahead of both parties when it comes to political strategy. He has put DACA in congress hands and no matter what happens, he can blame congress for the outcome and hold them accountable for it. At the same time, he is forcing the issue on immigration which is something both parties have avoided for years. Democrats don't want to appear to have the ability to do immigration reform so they can blame republicans for preventing it without having to take the responsibility for it and republicans don't want to seem mean but can't give amnesty to their base. Somethings got to give now.
Democrats could have given amnesty but want to keep DACA which is really just a 2nd class citizenship. They knew DACA was temporary. I can't wait for liberals to come on here talking about how Trump created the problem for dreamers.
[Edited on September 5, 2017 at 12:17 PM. Reason : if you cared about dreamers, you would have given them citizenship, not DACA] 9/5/2017 12:16:11 PM |

The two are not mutually exclusive. One can be a genius and lack morality. Donald Trump has the intellectual ability to achieve his goala at all costs. His lack of empathy or moral compass is why you call him a coward.
Perhaps you would rather argue that most other politicians are as smart as him but their alleged moral courage restricted them from showing it.
One could also argue that it takes courage to make the controversial moves he has made.

This is probably the single, dumbest sentence I've read is TSB in 2017. His entire DACA play so far hasn't been designed to achieve is goals, it's designed to avoid blame at all costs (coward).
If he wanted to actually revamp a small part of our immigration policy he would get together with friends in congress, probably congressional leadership, and come up something they thought might pass then try to twist as many arms to see it through congress. Instead he's put an already imploding congress under a time deadline with a ton of other contentious issues already queued.
Asking anything from this congress is asking for failure. Trump doesn't want to achieve any goals, he just doesn't want to blamed for any failures.

Who saw 60 minutes???? WOW, I am more terrified after watching the Bannon interview. The guy is also a genius and that interview makes me think Trump has this all in a master plan to get his people in the midterm elections.
I think the DACA decision was precisely planned with a 6 month time period to inject itself into the primary season and start a civil war in the republican party where Trump can pick winners and losers for the midterm elections.
Trump is going to put pressure on people to pass his legislature or he will publicly challenge them in 2018. This is scary because I don't think the base or republican party understands what is going on and if history says anything, Trump will surely be 10 steps ahead and outsmart everyone to get his political outcome.
The media can't respond correctly because they won't let go of the narrative that Trump needs the GOP establishment to get anything done. Trump is going to try to do what he calls "draining the swamp". You can already hear him hinting at rallies when he rags on mccain and others for not doing healthcare. 9/11/2017 1:13:00 AM |

You're operating under the farce that evil cannot be genius. All of those events were planned by a group of geniuses who manipulated the poeple to get exactly what they wanted.
Whats even more impressive about Trump is that he beat the prevailing order all by himself. If he decided he needed to go get help from Russia in order to defeat the establishment, then that was, even more genius because he was the one who was able to pull it off.
Its all evil. Just because I think its genius doesn't mean I approve of it. Nigerian scams are also genius.

I don't know. I'm not the political genius. I'm not even quite sure what Trump is trying to do but I have my theory. Its easy to see his genius of 2016 at this point but after that first primary debate, not many people saw Trump setting a wave of events into motion that would fit together perfectly to make him president. No one outside of his camp.
He will always be known for his genius of hijacking the entire 2016 election on his own. He single handedly defeated powerful groups of GOP establishment as well as the liberal elite. I'm guessing congressional leadership would torpedo anything pretty quickly. But as congressional GOP repeatedly fails all over itself, on this issue and basically everything else it touches, Dems can basically say "hey, here is a fully hashed out bill the president was interested in" and see if a frustrated leadership would bring it to a vote.
You're right that this "deal" is kinda meaningless as far as legislation coming to the floor immediately, but it does create leverage for Dems to either soften whatever the GOP comes up with or inject their own bill whenever they can. 9/14/2017 9:02:17 AM |

Really tired of both sides refusing to collaborate and actually solve problems. I'm tired of bases being the electorate for both parties.
