Some of you maybe missing your stats fix. Statsman is down for the time being with domain renewal issues. Here is another site that has some interesting team stats:
http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/

Here are our team stats:
http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/team_overview.php?TeamID=59

Congrats to our newest member WorldofJay!
SilverSurfer-> Are you singing it or bringing it? So far you only have 3 active processors in a week. Besides, once Noen gets up to full strength, I think we will both see a flyby. Anyway. good luck and Fold On!

Nice ramp SilverSurfer! Make sure you have permission if they are not your boxes.

That's odd Trebinor. At least all of the points are going to trebinor. Yeah, I have heard the Linux client is poor. I think one of the major reasons is that it uses the old TINKER core which is much slower than the newer GROMACS core. Here is a discussion about Linux and TINKERs:

I just got 10 old PC's from work, rescued out of the 30 we threw out but cold get a celeron 700, pIII 500, pIII 600, PIII450, and PIII 450 running, but would uit be worth it? wouldnt one p4 2.5+ be faster than all these combined?

Everything helps. There are a few older machines on the team. I know Loopdomain = PIII450, and Matrix Reloaded = PIII650 and they seem to be doining well. I wouldn't bother with machines slower than a PII300 as they may have trouble making the WU deadline. I currently have a PII400 and a PII350 folding a way at work. I guess it depends if you want to pay for the electricity to keep them running? That's why mine are at work. Those are some decent machines still. The best solution would be to sell them to in-coming students and use the money to put together some cheap boxen with T-bred 1700's OC'd ect.

I've added some tips on how to increase your WU production on my web site.
Link to 3.25b http://www.stanford.edu/group/pandegroup/beta/beta.html
Link to FireDaemon http://www.firedaemon.com/
Quote :
"Tips on How to Increase your Rate of Production

1. Add more computers with your username and team number 59. There is no limit to the number of machines you can have folding for a single username.

2. Use the Beta 3.25 client version to force SSE CPU optimizations on GROMACS folding cores. This is especially useful for AMD CPU's since the non-beta client will default to 3Dnow optimizations which are slower and can result in a 15% speed increase. *Please be sure your system is stable since the optimizations may raise your CPU temperature. In order to force SSE in the 3.25 client, you need to add the following flag '-forceasm' to a shortcut. For example the target field in your shortcut would look like this depending on your directory structure:

"C:\Program Files\Folding@Home\FAH3Console.exe"-forceasm

3. Run the client as a service while users are logged off. You can set up a service in administrative tools under the control panel in windows, or you can use a program like FireDaemon to set it up for you. You will need to add the '-service' flag to ensure the service runs while users are logged off.

4. Beta test new work units. This can be done by adding the '-advmethods' flag to your shortcut. Most of the new work units use the GROMACS core which is much faster than the old TINKER core. It's not a guarantee, but it has helped to increase production in the past."

Hope this helps.

157 was based on Statsman. There is a bit of differnce based on statsman drops teams that have not produced a WU in x amount of time. Unfortunatly Statsman still has not renewed his domain name, so I edited my HOSTS file so I could view it and upload screen shots. There is no screen shot today since I think Hassell is having some problems. I can't upload anything.

and i'm not sure why my stats are messed up. tho i just cron job it up and configure it minimally (being lazy and not putting the cpu number, etc).

Those stats are from 2.4C@3.0ghz,2.0ghz,2.0ghz. First is gaming rig and last two are at work.

I have 4 machines running F@H as a service (thanks to FireDaemon), but the stats page at Stanford only has me at 2 active processors... Am I doing something wrong?

With 4 machines, you should be putting out more than 80pts/week. What are the approximate speeds of the machines? The slowest I run is a PII350. Did you copy the config file from an initial install of F@H? You have to run the setup (config) on each machine, because the program has to create a unique Machine ID#.

Is it possible that F@H is being shut down by the user? If you use the -service flag F@H will run when users are logged off.

Let me know how it goes.

That's what it is... I just copied the .cfg file. I thought that is what I was suppose to do.
How do I setup (run the config) when running console as a service?

I've noticed that the -service flag runs while a user is logged on as well. I am hoping you mean it runs when users are logged off as well as logged on.
thanks for all the help.

Can I just go into the .cfg file and make machine ID=2, 3, etc? on the various machines?
Going to try this. Maybe this will work.

Sorry I was wrong. It's called user ID. Machine ID is for dual processors. The user ID is generated automatically. Here is what the log file looks like on one of my machines:
Quote :
"--- Opening Log file [September 8 23:37:39]

# Windows Console Edition #####################################################
###############################################################################

Folding@home Client Version 3.25

http://foldingathome.stanford.edu
email:help@foldingathome.stanford.edu

###############################################################################
###############################################################################

Arguments: -local -advmethods -forceasm

[23:37:39] - Ask before connecting: No
[23:37:39] - User name: KRUZNBY (Team 59)
[23:37:39] - User ID = 21123BC56A6E155C
[23:37:39] - Machine ID: 1"

Don't try to edit the config file. You need to start the FAH3Console.exe with the -config flag to get an assigned user ID number. Then enter your info in. I think if you delete the config file, it will automatically ask for new info. The UserID helps to prevent cheating is my understanding.

[Edited on September 10, 2003 at 6:10 PM. Reason : Don't edit config to get a new user ID.]

Ok. So I went around and checked all the machines that I had it on. I stopped the service, deleted the .cfg file and ran fah3.25-console -config. It however gave me the same User-ID that was already assigned. The User-ID on every machine is different though.
I may look into it more tomorrow.

As a team we hit a milestone of 100,000 pts a day or two ago. It only took us 2 years to get there. At our current pace it will only take us 80 days to complete the next 100,000. We are currently in 152 place and moving up. Fold On!

Great work. I was just curious on the speed, since some of the slower machines will take longer than a week, so will not consistently show up on # proccessors/week for obvious reasons, but they should finish in plenty of time to get credit.

By points do you mean complete sets? Cause I've been folding for maybe a day, total, and I've only done 226 of the 400 of this set.

You've done 226 out of 400 frames of 1 Work Unit. Each work unit is worth a different number of points based on how long it takes to calculate on a benchmark machine Stanford uses. I like to use a program called EMIII to monitor my console client. After you submit your Work Unit with in a day or two, you should be able to check your points. There's more info on my website.

^Bingo. That's why if you have machines that take longer than a week to complete a WU, then they will drop off of the active processors list until they submit another WU.
