not sure how that's possible. i have an 8800GTS 320MB and it only averages 1235 ppd, i know i'm only running 513core/792memory, but still that doesn't make up for 4,000 ppd.

maybe you need to go get the latest official CUDA drivers from nvidia and the latest GPU2 client.

mine has always ran ~5000 PPD, with the OC its about ~5600 PPD

do you use FahMon to monitor your clients? if not where are you getting your numbers from?

oh and what clients do you have running under your name so far?

yes, I do use FahMon, I have tried to post a screenshot to the one I took a little while ago, its in my photo gallery if you want to look.

i dont remember all the versions anymore of what is running on my 2 primary folding machines, but I do know that I am running CUDA version 177.35, and Folding GPU2 version 6.12beta8.

on the GPU2 client, it gets 479 Points every ~2.2 hours, just check my stats and you can see in the last 3 days every update there is at leaste 500-600 points...

i'm getting ~1800PPD from my 8600GTS...kinda makes me wish I would have splurged the extra 40ish to get the 8800gt

wth, i installed the new CUDA drivers and my ppd went DOWN to ~800ppd on a 8800GTS 320MB, OC'd to 600/900, and no there's nothing wrong with the hardware!

sorry to hear that... did you reboot before trying to install the new drivers?

doesnt vista have a video driver protection, so you cant screw it up too bad... maybe that interferred with your performance.

also, I am using RivaTuner to tweak the GPU, and no longer in the standard settings, all on performance, on the verge of crashing

yes, my SMP on vista has returned to ~3000ppd with 1760 point work units. with the 1920 point work units it really is crap.

so basically fahmon is reporting ~9600ppd on my two machines it monitors.

thats really strange. i'm getting the same numbers with my 8600GTS

Here's someone with a similar problem: http://foldingforum.org/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=3821
and here's another with some possible fixes: http://foldingforum.org/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=3783

you are running the latest GPU client right?

beta 8 & 177.35 i believe.

i haven't tried changing affinity yet
i haven't tried the cpu slider (i'm assuming it's far right)
i haven't tried starting the GPU2 first, then the console, but i'm assuming that won't change anything.

I do run the affinity changer...so maybe you should try that if you haven't yet.

currently I'm running 2 SMP clients (on a Q6600) and 1 GPU2 client (on an 8600GTS) on a Vista machine...for a grand total of ~5000 PPD, and it's working just fine. I have a feeling the affinity changer program is helping smooth everything along.

has anyone noticed how much this GPU client is changing the competitive landscape of the FAH project? It's like the difference the SMP client made, but 10X greater since the graphics cards can generate so many more points.

while we benefited from the SMP clients., and we are getting a lot more points with these GPU clients, if you look at the overtake chart we're gonna get slaughtered in the next couple months by all these teams who exploded on the scene running these GPU clients.

Hopefully we can add enough GPU clients to stay in this thing

alexzogh has now took the #1 ppd title from chemp. I need some mobo's with pcie so I can justify buying a 8800gs to keep up for the team.

edit:
I think I will ask if I can sell the older video cards out of the server farm and replace them with 8800gs cards. I think most use pcie slots. That would be ~30,000ppd if I could pull that off. We shall see.

^ damn that would be nice. gl with it!

GG everyone for helping to get our production to over 109K points yesterday!!! I don't have time to look at the stats but I bet that's our best day ever! I'm sure our 24hr average will be over 100K soon, which is a huge step for us. We haven't turned the tables on that overtake chart yet, but I'm sure we will as long as we keep building production.

GG alexzogh (whoever you are) for making it to #1 producer on the team...looks like your 24hr average will be over 15K pretty soon. I wonder if chemp will strike back...

GG to ablancas for making it over 13K yesterday I like the slope of your production chart

Also welcome to PTP who almost broke 6K points in their third day of folding!

Good to see 30thAnnZ kick it up a notch...even if he isn't on tww anymore

I'm PTP. I ended up switching names and putting multiple computers under a single name.

I'd like to get even more production if I can. I still haven't put it on my home theater PC.

yeah i've got a quadro 3700 but with like 169.1something drivers, so I can fold on it, but i've got the OK to use one SMP on my quad

3700 would be worth that much, but still add some points for the team

how do you get the GPU folding to work with two cards? I have two ATI Radeon HD 3870s, which AFAIK were just recently supported.

Hahaha, I installed FahMon and monitored my laptop and it was getting like 100 PPD.

Im so embarassed.

Is there any way to increase my production, or am I really just limited by having a slow ass single core processor. Right now I'm using the regular graphic interface. Should I switch to a text only one... or do I just have that slow of a computer.

i'd would tend to think that it cost you more in electric bill than the results you are getting out of it... i have a machine here that is getting 7k ppd by itself, but it has increased my power bill by like 30 a month... but I use logmein on it too, so I would never cut it off cause I need it online 24/7 so might as well do a little folding in the mean time.

but 100 ppd, cut it off. as for the team, thanks for the effort though!!!

ohh yeah team, I had to take my iMac offline, im selling it and its one less... I never knew how much the mac client helped anyways... probably 500-600 ppd.

It's cool... I think when the PTP collective is producing 12k or 13k a day, my laptop's 100 means nothing

^ really?

but yeah, 100 might not be worth it unless you want to have it on anyway (i fall into this category)

Yeah, I read the wrong column

I'm still keeping the laptop on, but man it's shit. And my dual core desktop, well I expect more from it, but it seems to be under-performing too! Who knows...

I wouldnt leave my laptop on just for the 100 or so points, but I figure since it stays on anyway, it's probably not hurting much.

i have the checkmark next to the "get assigments larger than 10mb", yet it doesnt seem to be picking any up. I'm on a 2.5ghz c2d with 4gb and its giving me the smallest WUs possible it seems.

Do they have a GPU client for OS X yet? I have an 8800GT that is just wasting space most of the time.

I dont know about you guys, but Ive been having a lot of problems with the SMP clients. Sometimes it seems like its not working. It will hang or not send the assignment. It's done this on multiple computers. Have you guys experienced anything similar?

found out why my quadro at work isn't recognized:

^^ can you give us some more details? PC specs (overclocked?), OS, what client version you're using, what antivirus you're running etc. Also post parts of your log file where it breaks.

Are you running as a service?

gg ablancas for getting your production to over 11K PPD

^^ not running as a service, XP Pro, SMP client - Uhh, Intel dual core 2GHz with 2Gigs of memory I believe

I saw a thread where the SMP client has issues if you set it up to run using IE settings, and I may have screwed up and done that. I'll check it.
