Be sure you have a lot of time to spend as you have to wait for waiting rooms and the like but I def liked this place. they special order as well so they're ordering me the strapless I need.

Does anyone else have a mother that loves to go into histrionics? Because mine sure the hell does It's a complicated, boring story but basically my parents majorly fucked something up they should have taken care of three years ago and I just found out about it. I called my dad to figure out exactly what's going on. Him and I have a civil conversation about it. Then my mom calls me and while I try to start it out civil, she immediately starts with the screaming hysterics I finally tell her the only person that has a right in this situation to be angry is me and I'm not screaming at her, which gets me called a bitch and she hangs up on me. Just the conversation I want to have while at work

^yes

like the time my mother yelled at me for 3 hours because my dog puked on the floor...

or the time she went into hysterics because she was lost (on Ten Ten Rd.) and i was the bad, bad person who wouldn't help her find her way even though i drove to where she was and let her follow me to safety...

or the time she tried to slap me because i didn't clean the kitchen counter with the correct cleaning rag...

or the time she said i was "a god damn worthless child who can't do anything right" because i ran over a string i couldn't see with the vacuum...

you mean like that?

[Edited on May 24, 2011 at 4:01 PM. Reason : actually it's not so much histrionics as it is that my mom used to be a real bitch]

Damn, are you sure we don't have the same mom because that's totally the sort of shit she likes to pull.

I remember in kindergarten, I'm not sure what I "did", but she start throwing work boots at me until I ran into my room and locked the door. I'm sure it was something stupid like I drank the wrong juice

you want to know the funny thing...

half the things i mentioned up there happened within the last month

my mom has always had a fucked up sense of priorities on what deserved punishment and what didn't...

i get a DUI - "i'm disappointed but you learned a lesson and it's going to be ok"

i get myself $20,000 in debt - "i'm disappointed but you learned a lesson and it's going to be ok"

i wash my goodwill yoga pants in warm water and throw them in the dryer - "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU THINKING...YOU SHOULD TAKE BETTER CARE OF YOUR STUFF...YOU ARE 32 YEARS OLD...YOU SHOULD KNOW HOW TO WASH CLOTHES BY NOW AND NOT MESS EVERY THING UP!!!! "

^^ ahahahaha that makes me laugh because that is exactly how my mom was

i'd get a drinking ticket and be scared shitless to call my parents and tell them because of how my mom reacts to simple things. then when i finally tell them they do the "i am disappointed in you but hope you learned your lesson"

but heaven forbid i lose a bic pen or something really retarded. then i get the "WHY ARE YOU SO IRRESPONSIBLE YOU ARE ALMOST 25 YEARS OLD blah blah blah" (that was then, i'm almost 27 now )

today is my mom's bday. she'd be 61

I was telling my husband a couple days ago about how my mom started beating me with an electrical cord when i was a teenager and started being physically abusive in general. i had to hit her in the face to make her stop, but that ended it and stuff is cool since i am an adult for the most part.

my mom doesn't really do that stuff, but lately she has been extra catty (not to me, but to other people)

I'm not sure if it's the "change" or whatever, but for instance.. I told her about that ridiculous barber shop sign, which is at the place next to where we used to own our bar. She told me that girl is really trashy and whenever she sees her, she'll yell out "SKANK"

I told her she was an instigator and she didn't believe me

^^^my mom also did the electrical cord thing to me....across the back of my legs...

But she was rarely physically abusive to me...she had ottn that all out of her system by beating the shit out of my brother daily...

She would threaten me with "do you want me to slap the shit out of you" though...

The last time she did that she actually went in for the hit...

I grabbed her hand in mid-swing and told her she'd never hit me before and she wasn't going to start that day and she was to NEVER put her hands in my face again...

And she hasnt

My mother had me at like 38 and my brother at 40, so she was going through menopause while we were teenagers. I have no words for how awful those teenage years were with all those hormones flying around the house.

Fortunately, I married a guy whose mother was also of advanced maternal age and had no problem with us popping our kids out while we were in our 20s.

I'm like 99% positive it's about that time. She's around that age, and she mentioned she has been having hot flashes and other symptoms...

so I try to keep my mouth shut... but for real, she has been SUPER DUPER catty. Like to the point of me cringing and being embarrassed by her comments.

I thought that my mother had lost her ever-loving mind. Like needed to be committed insane. She'd go from raging bitch to sobbing mush in no time flat. It was horrible.

Yeahhhhh then I'm gonna guess it is the change. One second she was telling me stuff like I previously mentioned, then the next she was sobbing (yes, sobbing) over that James guy getting kicked off American Idol

Then she told me about some "drama" they had on their trip this weekend to Bike Week... and she seriously almost got into a fight with two girls! wtf.

she took it from me and threw it yelling about how that was NOT what she wanted.

wow these comments make me want to run back to NC and hug my mom the stories posted are awful. im sorry. my mom has been & continues to go through the change and she has not been terrible to me, she's had her challenges but she has never lashed out at me. i would probably run away crying and she knows it would damage me emotionally

can i change the subject?....

i was waiting for a friend to return a text before i went into this fro yo place yesterday and i wandered into a zales outlet in the same shopping center and i found this:

oh my god i fell in love. the stone is citrine, which i dont think ive ever seen before. the picture doesn't do this piece justice. it was love at first sight. i actually went back today to visit it again and bargain some with the saleswoman. the "retail" price is $390 but i got it down to $260 with resizing tax and everything

the stone doesn't look so bright yellow in person. it's a little more muted and just beautiful. it will be mine.

^^^ LOVE that ring!!

I also posted this in the garden thread, but I just want some comfort after my mistake It sounds like such a small problem compared to the mama drama above!! Makes me realize how lucky I am to have a good relationship with my mom.

BUT ... today I turned my soaker hose (for the garden) on like always, and like always I set an alarm for 15 minutes. But I got distracted when the alarm went off, and never turned off the hose! I was away from the house for 5 hours with the hose on

I feel horrible about wasting so much water. I think the plants should be OK but OMG I feel like an awful person

I've always gotten along with my Mom. I grew up getting spankings, but those stopped at a reasonable age. I should call her more, I think she gets lonely during the week.

Love the ring wolfy posted! Also, just got some pretty diamond earrings from my bf for my bday. A full carat. Pretty. Will post pics tomorrow.

If this is what he gives after four months, I'm a little scared to see what happens at Christmas.

citrine is very pretty, but not that expensive when it comes to semi-precious stones

I used to wish I was born in November so I could have it as my birthstone, but I love the opal now.

I don't know. I have no concept of diamond costs. It depends on the four Cs, I think?

He said his mom told him to get the two carat earrings, but he said they looked gaudy. Thank god ... I imagine that two would be heavy and way too big.

Also, they're not insured. Should I get them insured?

it really depends on how good the quality of the diamonds are. you can get 1 carat earrings that are not in the thousands of dollars.

Quote :
"your post when you started the self-tanner and the finished product post are polar opposites "

the one where i put it on last night v. the one where i posted this morning?

yea i know! the stuff goes on SUPER DARK it is really really really scary. and it turns your skin really dark and is hard to get totally even....although the bottle says that you just need to cover everything as it is only spots that aren't covered that will look splotchy. so i did (minus like one small spot on my back that i couldn't reach by myself but that you can't see unless i'm totally naked anyway)

so then you leave it on for at least 4 hours (i slept in it). then you shower and exfoliate and the water turns brown i also scrubbed my toes where they got too dark to get the extra off cause it looked fake on them (i need a pedicure). and THEN after you do all that, its a nice even tan. it isn't orange at all or super dark, but def looks like i went to the beach or something.

it is really weird. i was totally freaked when i put it on. it makes kind of a sticky outer crust thing. *SHRUG*

i'm telling you. it worked!!!! it was just scary at first. i texted my friend last night that recommended it and was like "uhhh i wanna wash this off asap" and she was like, no leave it on trust me. so i did and i'm glad!

my mom has mellowed in her old age...she's 68

she went through the change at 40...so i was 5 at the time...

we are pretty close now...

but i am very open with her about how fucked up she treated me as a kid...

when she starts that shit now, i give it back to her with both barrels and she usually ends up all sad and pitiful and tells me i treat her like i dog...

i just feel i'm justified for sticking up for myself
