I think the same thing. Although, I am getting Occulemency and Legilimens mixed up.

Yeah as far as i can understand it, occlumency is the art of blocking someone from looking into your mind/reading it, etc....
We also know that snape was trying to use legilimency on Draco, earlier when he confronted him during slughorn's party..
b/c snape says something to the effect of: Aunt Bellatrix has been teaching you occlumency
which is interesting b/c this means that Draco had more success learning it than Harry did.

Or that he just fucking tried.

If you recall, Harry was too busy PMSing to bother learning it.

i hate ending up with the last post on a page...

from page 9:

Quote :
"I want to know why Fawkes' feather is in both Harry's and Voldemort's wand"

Can you point out where it says that the feathers came from Fawkes?

I thought the deal was that the phoenix that provided the feather for harry's wand only gave one other... the one in voldemort's wand.

I don't remember anyone ever saying it came from fawkes.. I could be wrong, but if you can prove me otherwise, then i agree that fawkes probably still has a greater roll to play

yeah I believe it is at the end of Goblet of Fire...hold on let me look

ahh yes..it is in chapter 36 of Goblet of Fire...Dumbledore tells harry
He is describing the Reverse Spell effect where their wands linked in the graveyard..
and dumbledore says it is b/c both their wands contain the feather from the same phoenix..and he says, "this phoenix.." and points to fawkes
http://www.hp-lexicon.org/index-2.html

that website is really good for anything harry potter...it is being slow for some reason right now though..
click on "search" and search for fawkes and it will come up

OK! I was talking to my friend Daniel last night and wouldn't it be cool if:

Harry or his scar is a horcrux and at the final battle both Voldemort and Harry are down for the count, and both die, but Harry is saved from death by his friends' love or a kiss from Ginny.

Maybe the new minister of magic is someone significant or related to Griffindor or some special key to this whole thing since JKR talked a lot about him being lion-like.

Maybe Regulus is still alive (Dumbledore's comment to Malfoy about how well they could hide someone - make everyone think the someone is dead) because we don't know anything about his death (er, or do we, what was it?) Maybe Regulus is the new Minister of Magic?

The new Potions proff. kept talking about how great Lily was at potions, maybe she and Snape stayed late working on potions stuff together and that's how he came to fall in love with her, or maybe he tutored her in potions? I think we'll find out more about their relationship in the next book.

Maybe after Snape told Voldemort about the prophesy, he felt so terrible for playing part in Lily's death that he made an unbreakable vow with Dumbledore (or with Dumbledore officiating it?) and that's why Dumbledore trusts him. But Dumbledore needed everyone else to not entirely trust Snape so that Voldemort wouldn't become suspicious in this final progression to the big battle.

I agree with your last point about dumbledore and snape having an unbreakable vow..
I think that is one reason why they introduced it in this book..so it can also come into play in the next one..
b/c his vow with narcissa really wasn't mentioned that much after it happened...

also..i don't think harry's scar or himself is a horcrux, b/c why would voldemort try to kill him all this time if killing harry would be helping to kill yourself? ...but i think his wand may be a horcrux....

horcrux is an object that contains part of someone's soul. the soul is split after they murder someone and then that portion of their soul can be placed into an object...

ginny weasley is ron's sister...she is one year behind ron and harry and also in gryffindor

Anyone remember Stubby Boardman?

People were hoping that it really turned out to be Sirius, but it could be Regulus.

^that's a really good idea!
if sirius and regulus looked similar, which i'm sure they did..then stubby boardman could in fact be regulus

Who was Stubby Boardman?

And what happened to the current minister of magic?? Or what exactly would it matter if it were Regulus or Sirius?

Luna Lovegood (i believe it was) said that many people thought stubby boardman, who was the leadsinger of the Hobgoblins was really Sirius Black.
However, if Sirius and Regulus look alike, which we can assume they look similar, then stubby boardman could in fact be regulus...
and regulus is important b/c he used to be a deatheater, as we learned in order of the phoenix.. go back to the chapter titled "Number 12 Grimmauld Place" where sirius and harry are looking at the black family tree.
People are hypothesizing that RAB (the initials on the note in the fake locket in HBP), is regulus black

I understand all that... but what if Regulus and Sirius are both back in this book, to help destroy the locket and find the other items... is there a chance they could both be back

Anyone else going to read the 4th book over before the movie comes out?

Well, that veil Sirius fell into is still mysterious, we still don't know a lot about it... I kind of hope that he is gone and Regulus somehow comes into play.

Regulus got too deep into the deatheaters and was killed (or so we think)

Yeah, just knowing that there isn't a body and that he could have hidden away makes me hope Stubby is Regulus. If he is the one who got the locket, it would seem that he knew more of what he was getting into.

That could be true. However, from what's been said about Regulus it doesn't sound like he's similar to Sirius.

I guess people are holding out hope that the note in the locket is, indeed, from Regulus and that he decided to turn good or something and help the Order.

I don't think that Regulus turned good OR decided to help the Order

I think he just had a falling out with the Death Eaters/Voldemort and figured if he was going down he might as well take a part of Voldemort with him

This is an interesting thought. Whoever took the lock obviously knew what it was and its purpose, and would probably know how to make a horcrux of their own. And who would be in a better position to make a horcrux than a Deatheater, who would be asked to kill on a regular basis? I could defintely see Regulus, probably knowing that Voldemort would kill him, creating a horcrux so he could survive. If he did create a horcrux, the first thing that pops in my mind as to what it could be would be the painting of their mother.

I'm not trying to sound uppity but I think it's great how people are analyzing the literary devices Rowling uses to find out what happens. I'm not saying she's predictable either-- just consistent. Except for that time thing in book 3, but no one will ever be happy with any rendition of time travel in literature. Ever. :3

Yeah, uh, thank goodness the Ministry of Magic gathered up all of the time travel lockets........... Wouldn't other people have the ability to time travel without those lockets if those silly lockets can do it? I think it opens way too much up, and I think that was a ruddy way to get rid of the complexities that occur from having time travel devices in the story.

Luna Lovegood hinted that it might be a door where you cross-over into the spirit world, and I don't think that you can come back from there. She was telling Harry that she heard the voices on the other side and that people were waiting there for them. I also remember that people who had not seen death could not hear the voices, like Hermione, because she was able to pull them away from the veil. Also, Nearly-Headless Nick was talking about how he decided to linger in the world, so the ministry might have the veil to allow spirits who choose to stay on earth when they die to cross-over after.
