OK, so this is what she had to say on that subject:

Quote :
"ES: Is the last word of book seven still scar?

JKR: At the moment. I wonder if it will remain that way.

MA: Have you fiddled with it?

JKR: I haven't actually physically fiddled with it. There are definitely a couple of things that will need changing. They’re not big deals but I always knew I would have to rewrite it. "

Ok i just finished the 6th book last night, I think the name of the last one should be "Harry Potter, I told you so". Anyway i have some questions about it, like who is RAB and do you think that horcrux has already been done away with?

Ah, my mistake. I thought it was explictly stated. And yes, Sonia said who everyone thinks it is.

And from JKR's interview:

Quote :
"MA: R.A.B.

JKR: Ohhh, good.

[All laugh.]

JKR: No, I'm glad! Yes?

MA: Can we figure out who he is, from what we know so far?

[Note: JKR has adopted slightly evil look here]

JKR: Do you have a theory?

MA: We've come up with Regulus Black.

JKR: Have you now?

MA: Uh-oh.

[Laughter.]

JKR: Well, I think that would be, um, a fine guess."

I think Dumbledore was/is possessed. I think the blackened hand Dumbledore received was actually from restoring a crux, not destroying a crux! Did you notice that as Dumbledore drank the potion near the end of the sixth book, he cried out to Harry to kill him!! I think that was the actual Dumbledore surfacing under the imperius curse. The potion he drank was concocked by Snape, the Half-Blood Prince, and it protected Dumbledore from death, it may have put him into a controlled coma. Remember, the actual horocrux had already been taken and replaced by a fake horocrux, so all of this is entirely plausible. I'm not sure about anything, but I know not to trust anyone after reading the sixth book, and I don't believe for a second that Dumbledore is in fact.. Dead.

Interesting theory, but do you think if he was under the Imperius curse (most likely done by a Death Eater) that Riddle would have taken his chances by letting him out of his control and killing him?

on a side note, wouldnt you like to see JK publish some of her character building, side notes, and back story she has created after the 7th book is done. I would be interested in reading some of it.

^^^^^ very interesting theory

I think everyone is looking for a loophole so that Dumbledore can still be alive.

I think he is permanently dead because this sets up the meeting between Voldemort and Harry without Dumbledore. I think we will see Harry use this as motivation to really start to preparing for his showdown. I also think Fawkes will be back to help Harry defeat Voldemort again.

Here's an argument for why niether Harry nor his scar is one of Voldemort's horcruxes.

Voldemort seemed to not be aware of Harry's ability to access his consciousness/memories. If he made Harry or the scar a horcrux, then you'd think he'd expect some sort of surprising connection like that between them. Related question: I can't remember, did Harry "see" what Nigiri was seeing at one point or was it just Voldemort inhabiting his Nigiri horcrux that Harry "saw?"

Also, someone earlier asked if Voldemort is a horcrux. Voldemort's probably not called a horocrux b/c he's consciously inhabiting that part of his soul, but he also put his soul into 6 other things and those are the horcruxes. This seems to mean that even if Harry were to straight up kill the Voldemort body, that's just one part of Voldemort's soul down and he could use the soul left in the horcruxes to somehow find a body again (like how he reformed after being less than human and then at another point attached to Quirrell's head...)

Then why did his portrait suddenly appear in the headmaster's (now headmistress's) office? Dead is the only explanation. I still hope Snape is a good guy, though, because I just like his battiness way too much.

I'm a HP fan, but this was my least fav book so far. The horcruxes are cool, but there wasn't much else new and the whole scene in the cave was just way too LOTR.

Actually, yes, I did. Mainly because we were still learning about the personalities of the characters and quite honestly there was more creativity in CoS. I admit that that the whole giant spiders and giant snake scenio is a bit lame, but remember that chamber of secrets also introduced us to Ginny, Moaning Myrtle, Dobby, and Polyjuice potion. Obviously I am in the minority and you are in the majority, so we shall have to just agree to disagree on that one.

Here is my order:
Goblet of Fire
Prisoner of Azkaban
Order of Pheonix
>>
SS
CoS

HBP

just a personal opinion. ive pretty much stayed out of this thread but when someone said that these could be the greatest film and literature series ever i had to give my two cents. fantasy has been my favorite genre of literature since i can remember reading on my own. i cant even tell you how man diff fantasy series ive read, but i know that the frist two HP books i read were plain boring and childish to me.

but obviously there are lots of ppl who think diff about these books. in almost all cases in ppl that i know personally, those who have read fantasies long before HP came out by others such as tolkien and donaldson etc find HP to be rather drab, while those that hadnt read much previously find them more exciting. thats not a bad thing really, i guess just why i never found them entertaining perhaps.

Didn't JK Rowling say in an interview awhile ago that the half-blood prince was someone we hadn't met yet? Because Snape certainly doesn't qualify for that.

In her interview, JK Rowling said that the 7th book would most likely be shorter than the 5th...I wonder how that will be if Harry has to find 4 horcruxes, become more skilled in the dark arts, and kill Voldemort? That's a lot of stuff to cram into a book...I think the horcrux thing should have been mentioned earlier on, because it took Dumbledore an entire school year to find the ring and the locket (that ended up being a fake). This just leads me to think Harry won't be alive at the end of the 7th book...sorry Ginny...
