Malcom Floyd was never a "special teams demon".

Danario Alexander is pretty good. Gates can still play.

Poor protection and lack of talent around Rivers doesn't excuse his penchant for snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

i think he was supposed to throw it to mcmichael, which would have been a pick 6, so he just threw it into his feet

the best part was the WELP look he gave afterwards, even he knows these calls are dumb

why are the announcers talking up norv? "look at the results?!"

you can look at it two ways:

1) Phil is slow as shit and that's why he gets sacked so much

or

2) Phil isn't as good at football as we thought he was and it's finally starting to show

3) His offensive line is terrible, was sacked 6 times today

His head coach should be a coordinator

His 1st round RB is bad even when healthy

^^^ his O-line is really bad, but do you think that RW, RG3, Cam, Kaepernick, etc would get sacked as often as Phil does?

the era of plodding QBs is over

^^ I'm still a Charger fan, and I will continue to be one after they cut/trade Phil. I'm not spending another dime on that team as long as Norv is coach, however. Made that decision 2 years ago.

I saw about 4 minutes of the game yesterday while eating dinner.

I saw rivers get sacked for 9 yards
throws a pick on the next down.
minute later chargers intercept it again

I see a short dink to gates
next play gets sacked and fumbles.

sad as it seems, dude is on a downward spiral. If he has another season like last year, he just might get released (that said, I don't know where he is in his current contract.. may be prohibitive to do so).

Yeah Rivers sucked donkey dick last night. He just cannot move and the Charger O-line is awful. Granted it was preseason, but good night the Chargers are going to be terrible this year.

He's in dire need of a change in scenery. Zero oline or weapons. Team is in shambles. He'd be perfect on a team like Houston where he would be an upgrade.

He'd be great anywhere he has a beastly o-line and can sit in the pocket while scanning downfield. He's arguably the least mobile QB in the NFL (Arguable if Brady is slower).
And for chrissakes, they need to get the guy a left guard. He gets hit from the blind side almost constantly.

He also needs receivers. He's never had an elite receiving corps, much less a strong group since his first couple of years. VJ was a beast, but the holdout and off field issues limited his effectiveness.

Since LT/MT the running game has been abysmal. That follows a poor offensive line as well.

I think Rivers' personality has hurt him here-- his competitiveness led him to try to do too much, and often holds the ball too long or forces throws that lead to turnovers. I'd argue that's evolved from "trying to do too much" to making a habit of bad decisions.

He'd be an upgrade for a lot of teams.... if they can put together a solid OL. otherwise, he's just sackbait.

I plan on trying to pick up whatever defense he's going up against this fantasy season. the turnover points will be huge.

I honestly can't think of another team so void of talent at the 10 other offensive positions. Says it all that Max Starks is an upgrade at LT and that guy doesn't even budge off of the line of scrimmage before Rivers is demolished from the blind side.

Unfortunately AJ Smith ran this team into the ground during the prime of Rivers' career. Any talented offensive player left. With the Chargers' first 3 picks since 2009 the guy drafted 2 offensive players (Ryan Matthews and Louis Vasquez) and yet the defense is still middle of the road.

Have to hope he can get out of there and salvage his career somewhere.

rivers' shoulder is fucked.

he could resurrect his career if he went to a team that would actually sign/draft decent talent on offense.

Quote :
"Your quarterback: Neo-Promise Keeper Philip Rivers, aka Marmalard, aka King Laserface. I watched the Chargers game last night and within three seconds of tuning in, Marmalard had already thrown a pick and was in the ref's grill with his arms outstretched in his best THE FUCK, BRO?! stance. I'd give anything for someone to post a Vine of Rivers getting redassed at his local Walmart clerk. It would be a thing of majesty. His temper is like clockwork. I want him to retire, join the Monday Night Football booth, and spend the entire broadcast yelling, "Well, that is just shit, right there. THAT IS A SHIT PLAY."

Rivers is now 31 years old. He has 26 children and no functional knees or shoulders. He is done. So very done. Every game this season will feature him turning the ball over three times in the first 57 minutes of play, then furiously racking up 200 yards in the final three minutes of a blowout to help get his fantasy score out of negative integers. His receiving options include a healthy stable of #4 wideouts and Antonio Gates' two club feet."

this is basically the issue

also that the Chargers are so stupid, that they go 14-2 and fire their head coach

what a clown ass franchise...no wonder She-li didn't want to play for them

Watching the 2003 NC State vs. ND Gator Bowl right now. Damn our offense was sooo explosive. Miss seeing Philip in the pocket. What a great team (even with all the penalties)!
