GT-R TEST DRIVE!!!

http://www.7tune.com/?p=100
http://www.autoblog.com/2007/08/28/tochigi-test-drive-nissan-gt-r/

MUST READ!

Click to read the driver's impression about the driving ability of the car.

Quote :
"According to an interview with an unnamed test-driver in Japan's Car Top magazine, certain PR-types and marketing people at Nissan got a special treat earlier this month when the automaker brought out a few GT-Rs, a handful of hot shoes, a Z33 Fairlady Z and a 911 Turbo to run laps around the Tochigi proving grounds.

The driver quoted in the article had several other notable tidbits, specifically that four color choices would be available (silver, gunmetal gray, black and white) and he aided Car Top's CG gurus in creating a mock-up of what the production rear-end would look like (right).

Additionally, seven different GT-R models will be released worldwide, with a total of 19 different engine maps, all of which will be dependent on the market the vehicle is sold. However, don't expect a six-speed manual version to be released at the same time as its auto-box counterpart, since Nissan is having issues reducing emissions to acceptable levels."

Quote :
"Apparently initial sales will only consist of two pedal 7 speed semi-automatic models "

ENGINE DETAILS REVEALED!!!

VR38VETT Confirmed by Holiday Auto

http://www.7tune.com/?p=106

Quote :
"The upcoming Nissan GT-R is already a streetbound race car, but rather than just toss the tasty-enough VK V8 in the engine bay and call it a day, Nissan's going all out with an engine befitting an actual racer. The VK45 (from the Nissan President ) was rumored to be the engine for the GT-R, but Nissan felt its overall style was more Grand Touring than was appropriate, so they reached back into history and pulled out a little number from the R390 LeMans racer.

The R390 sported a 3.5 liter V8 known as the VRH35L, which was essentially recreated as a V6 production engine in the form of the upcoming GT-R's VR38VETT. Even though it loses two cylinders, it gains 300cc of displacement, for a total of 3.8 liters. Oh yeah, there's a couple of turbochargers thrown in for good measure, too. "

Click above for more engine details.

ahahahahah... BLEMBO

Seems like it will give the 911 Turbo a run for its money!!!

http://www.motorauthority.com/news/coupes/first-picture-2008-nissan-gt-r

Dec. Motortrend
After months of spy shots and drip-fed teasers Nissan’s all new GT-R super-coupe has been revealed with the early release of the December issue of MotorTrend. The tagline on the magazine’s cover claims the car is as fast as the Porsche 911 Turbo and is priced less than $80,000, confirming rumors the new GT-R will set a new standard in bang-for-your-buck comparisons.

Other details include the GT-R’s acceleration time of 3.5 seconds for the 0-60mph and 11.7 seconds for the quarter mile. Top speed is claimed to be a staggering 192mph.

Although we still don’t have any official details about the car’s new drivetrain, most are expecting to see a 3.8L V6 engine fed by a pair of turbochargers and mated to a dual-clutch gearbox with the latest ATESSA all-wheel drive setup. The car should measure in at 4,650mm in length and 1,920mm across. There’s rumored to be three different flavors of the new GT-R, starting with a 450hp entry-level model and ranging up to a 530hp flagship. This latter version is expected to be a stripped out racer with plenty of carbon-fiber and a track-tuned suspension.

Stay tuned for the flood of official details and images once the car is revealed at next week’s Tokyo Motor Show.

^^ I agree.

Hood vents: Look VERY weird, like they belong on a performance version of a small "cute" car, like a Mini. They are too small and all rounded. They look like aberrations and look as if they were placed there by mistake and were supposed to go on another car, like a Sentra SE-R or something.

Shape of car: Is it just me, or do the lines of the car look very rounded (from that cover pic) compared to all the tens of spy shots that have been coming out in the past year? I thought the body is exactly the same, but somehow seems to have been smoothed out...?

The back of the car is gorgeous though. Lots of pics here:

Looks like this car will live up to the hype. That performance is ridiculous, basically matching the Z06.

I think they wanted something that looked a little more like a real sports car, not a coupe version of a sedan....which is what the skyline has always been anyway.

I think they're trying to take the GTR in a different direction. I'm sure skyline's will still resemble the g35/g37.

In this month's Road & Track they mention Toyota's working on an AE86 successor to be intro'd around 2010. It'll be a small, light (2500lb target) RWD coupe for around $20k. The downside? A 1.5 liter 120hp engine, so not much to work with.

Autoweek drives the Nissan GT-R

Quote :
"With all the information about Nissan's GT-R already out in the open, one question remains: how does it drive? Autoweek got a crack at it in Germany, and after flogging the GT-R on the autobahn and around the south-loop of the Nurburgring, Mark Vaughn proclaims that it lives up to the hype.

The account of his time behind the wheel of reads like a 4th grader let loose in a combination Chuck-E-Cheese/candy factory with unlimited quarters and an empty stomach. He hammered through the dual-clutch six-speed, impressed with the down shifts and rev-matching (0.2 seconds for shifts), ran the 473 HP 3.8L twin-turbo V6 up to 176 mph on the 'bahn, tested the AWD-system's ability to shuffle power to the wheels (anywhere between 50/50 to 2/98) and laid long stretches of rubber in the pits even when told to keep it under 35 mph.

Lag was inconsequential, particularly compared to the Porsche Turbo Nissan had on hand during the testing, and although the Porsche's steering felt lighter and quicker, he preferred the GT-R's ease of use and more "tied down" nature."

It's a manual tranny operated by a computer more or less. Shifts in .2 sec in R mode, and "perfectly" rec matches on downshifts. Still, being able to operate a clutch would be nice.

So is the 4 door.

That red once looks really nice, maybe they will even make a bayside blue and a gunmetal (those were my favorite r34 and r32 colours).

This one got a little cut up

ummmm....I'm aware of this, hence why I said STILL, as in meaning thats the current situation, and will continue to be so.

for example, I bet you will STILL make new threads every time new pics of a car surface on the internet.

Make more sense now?

At least 20-30 new models have debuted in the past month or so, at the Frankfurt Auto Show (September) and the Tokyo Auto Show, but I don't remember making that many threads. Your imagination is running wild.
