For a state capital, we don't have a bunch of restaurants...

1. Captain D's
2. Shoney's (breakfast bar!)
3. Smithfield's Chicken & BBQ (inside the beltline)
4. Jack in the box
5. Picadilly Cafeteria

what else we missin?

There are better versions of each style of restaurant mentioned in your list...with maybe the exception of a Jack in the box

Good ones.

Something besides a billion chain restaurants and a few good, but expensive ones.

I would enjoy a Sonic that's closer.

But yeah, I get really tired of the same old chains. I would appreciate some more Mom & Pop type of joints with good home cooking.

Buffalo Brothers on Capital used to be a Shoney's.

The place right next to the Beltline ramp on 64 used to be a Shoney's.

Etc.

A 24 hour Krystal would be a good addition.

There used to be a shit-ton of Shoneys around Raleigh in the 80's and 90's.

^When I vacation, I wake mid-afternoon, and then, bloody maries are essential.

You need to learn how to vacation.

Morton's Steakhouse. I know, I know there are plenty of good steakhouses in Raleigh. But I tried it when I was in Charlotte and I dig it.

Makes sense now.

This town has more than enough shitty chains/fastfood joints.

The problem with suburbanification and transient families is that McDonalds becomes their idea of comfort food.

PT's Grille - kinda wanted them to just keep restaurants in wilmington, but since they've opened one up in Chapel Hill, they need one in Raleigh

Wild Wing - always thought they needed one of these and they're finally building one...I think its going to be over in Briar Creek
