So I've had these sneakers for about 3 months, and now they are starting to get dirty around the edges and stuff. Here's the thing though--on previous pairs of sneakers I've tried buying special sneaker cleaner, I've tried various methods of cleaning it by hand, and I'm just not satisfied. I have put sneakers in the washing machine before and it seems to make them the most clean (I think I let them air dry). Yet I heard that putting sneakers in the washing machine is bad for them or something, although I can't recall any noticeable damage.

Anybody have any tips?
