Spoken like a Chelsea fan who is watching Mudryk stink up the joint.

But seriously, it seems like this was just a precaution with some rest as the US doesn't need him vs T&T

LOL whatever man, I wanted him to succeed at Chelsea, the mangers and English fans would never accept him. Plus he is always picking up injuries even going back to Dortmund, and precaution or not, he came off injured on Tuesday in Milan's CL match. His playing style leads to injuries as he is fouled a lot and his body can't take the abuse.

So the ref made a bad out of bounds call....leading Dest to throw a wild tantrum and get double yellows. Give him the Gio treatment, or let him play wiht the U16s til he grows up?

It was a pretty egregious call... but nothing out of the ordinary for CONCACAF.

Gio throwing a tantrum in practice (allegedly) is not even in the same league as now two separate instances of getting thrown out of games and causing us to play down a man in games that matter. I'm not sure what should happen, but if I was a teammate I would have a hard time trusting him.

This should make for good fodder at the next leadership conference that GGG speaks at though.

If John Brooks can get frozen out by GGG surely Sergino Dest can get frozen out. This is 2 games in the span of 6 months he's been sent off from.

Ironically I believe the Ref last night was the 4th official in the last game he was ejected from.

Honestly I don't get why he acted that way, you were up 4-0 on aggregate and had a 1-0 lead, so the ref missed a foul earlier and they missed you keeping the ball in play, they also missed a clear corner for T&T that was awarded a goal kick, its not like CONCACAF isn't known for having shitty refs and line judges.

Hate this deal for him tbh. EPL seems like the wrong league given his injury history. There are teams where he would be a top option too and be guaranteed playing time and Forest ain't it.

He will get the opportunity to prove himself then.

Nation's league semis against Jamaica on Thursday. It's the first competitive game in a bit. Also, new kits for the summer were released. I kinda like them... at least they are an improvement over boring world cup kits.

What a pass by Reyna on that first Wright goal.

GK is going to be a huge problem for them. Turner is definitely out of form, he looked shaky all night, still made some saves but not looking like the level he was at prior to his move to Arsenal.

Its sad to see as this used to be the position of strength for the US, but Steffen and Turner moving to big clubs in England and not getting much game time ruined their progression. Not that I blame them. Turner and Horvath not playing regularly is an issue, Callender is probably the only one playing regular minutes of the 3.

yes I know where he plays now

Steffen plays for Colorado Rapids now but his downward trend happened when he joined Man City and didn't get regular minutes. Turner joined Arsenal and the same thing happened no regular minutes and his form has suffered.

And now he has been benched at Forest, he will be back in MLS this summer I would expect and maybe that will resurrect his form.

We got absolutely lucky AF against the Jamaican B team here. I'm just sick of watching Berhalter ball. Hiring GGG is basically throwing away a once in a lifetime opportunity to host the World Cup with the most talented and deep pool of players we have ever had.

I have no idea why Gio didn't start and I don't know why a coming-back-from-injury Tyler mf Adams is coming on when you need an equalizer goal. A creator, he is not.

Turner got benched because he was playing like dogshit. It definitely doesn't help that the team around him is about to get relegated, but his confidence has been shot since the move. Gk seems to be a position where confidence seems to be everything and I too am surprised by how weak and uncertain this position has been for us post WC

Yes that would be interesting to know.

The reality is until they make them start forfeiting matches its not going to stop, and even then I don't think it will stop.

Truthfully CONCACAF doesn't really care, its why they try to maximize crowd size by having non Friendlies or WCQ at venues that will get a large amount of Mexico supporters.

^This is "care theatre". Noone in charge really cares (or is willing to exact big enough consequences to stop it) but they have to pretend like they do.

That was definitely a no No NO... YESSSSSS!!!!! moment from Adams. If he takes another 100 of those, he doesn't hit it like that one more time. I still think our best lineups against most CONCACAF teams (mexico being the exception) don't have Adams in them. He is too limited creatively.

Gio is still on his "GGG is a dumbass" tour racking up goals and assists even when he has to come play LB to get the ball.

Although other than a couple of good passes in the first half Reyna had pretty much no impact on the game. I wonder if he is too slow sometimes against quality teams.

Regardless either he's a MF worth playing the whole game or one worth barely playing at all right? Is his game majorly different from 3 years ago?

^^ Reyna isn't (and has never been, no matter what our bald idiot manager thinks) a winger. Of course he is too slow to cook someone on the wing in space. That isn't his game. He needs his feet on the ball in the middle creating things.

But of course our middest of the mid manager has fallen in love with our completely offensively impotent MMA midfield and has to go with that to start once Weah is out. I don't even like our winger depth (Aaronson is a fitness merchant and Haji isn't necessarily a natural winger), but at least it let's out best playmakers play where they should be.

Even when he had Reyna in the midfield against Bolivia, he would have him dropping back and playing deeper than Adams half the time and so it limited his effectiveness.

The couple of standout passes you are talking about:

https://x.com/USACFC_/status/1807960529471705309

https://x.com/USMNTCORNER/status/1807957195130012004

And yeah, it's a couple of passes, but they are the type of linebreaking passes that are simply missing when the MMA midfield is in.

None of the other midfielders we have (except maybe McKennie occasionally when he isn't 15 pounds overweight) has this kind of quality. It should be a no-brainer that Reyna is a locked in starter in the midfield. You figure out other players around him, not the other way around. And somehow, GGG didn't even play him in the mid at all in WCQ or the WC!!!!

45 of those WC were in a similar must win situation after he started JESUS FEREIRA!!!!!111 against the Dutch. It's like Gregg is like, welp my ass is on the line, let's let the kid cook and try to save it.

One bright spot this tournament was Balogun. He is the clear #9 and consistently was our most dangerous attacker.

All the buzz on twitter says he is gone and they are trying to work on the the buyout as well as potentially get a replacement before they announce. Apparently $$ is a real concern considering they spent $$$$ on legal fees with the womens team.

"Sources" are saying that sporting director, Matt Crocker, is the biggest proponent of Gregg. If that's the case, then his ass needs to go as well.

I'm skeptical. Half of me thinks they are biding time until the fervor dies down and then announce they whiffed on Klopp and a few others and say Gregg is the best option going forward.

^The rumors I have heard are that US Soccer is holding out firing him and hope the fan outrage subsides don't know if that is all Crocker's doing or everyone on the Executive team.

This tells me they don't have the money to buy out GGG and get a replacement the fans will accept (Sorry Klopp isn't coming). They also don't want to turn into Mexico which has been a revolving door of coaches in the last 5-7 years.

That tracks with what we have seen from us soccer. Although Klopp may be a pipe dream, I think the fans would accept just about anyone to replace Gregg at this point. We have seen the ceiling with him... and it ain't good.

I also think the fans are ready to see if this "golden generation" is just flat out not good enough, or if they are being held back with Gregg's system. Another coach, even if they are average, will provide more data points to set expectations. Are we just gonna dominate concacaf? or can we make a deep run in '26?

Mexico is awful now and has been for a few years now.

Fair... but the team has won 2 nations leagues trophies and a gold cup that we brought our C team to.

I'm just among those who think we have obvious talent...at least better than everyone in concacaf...but would like to have a definitive answer as to whether having a shit manager is what's holding us back or whether our talent is just severely overrated (as opposed to a little bit overrated).
