A thorough ass raping may not be the worst thing for this team, even though I'm not sure the guys who shouldn't be playing can be any more exposed.

lol get some perspective dude, no US coach has ever won a game here and away WCQ wins are not automatic in CONCACAF anywhere regardless of what you might think

there is no way we should constantly be dwelling in the past with this crap ass conference. OH NOES, WE HAVE NEVER WON HERE. thats why we never win there. we keep hyping that fact up. if wed just go in there and fuck shit up we wouldnt worry about this.

we should be on a much higher level than we are right now. this team has slowly been going downhill since 2002 when we had germany dominated in the world cup. ever since that loss its like we cant get back to that great form. im sorry, but everyone of our players, man for man, is better than costa rica. this should never happen.

And I'm not arguing that, which is why I wasn't a fan of the Bradley hiring to begin with and why I've been so hard on him. But you can't go from never winning games in Mexico, Costa Rica, and Guatemala to straight dominating them every single game, no matter what the circumstances. Nobody's dwelling on the past but there are other intangibles that affect soccer other than the talent you have on paper and I thought we were making progress on that front with the win at Guatemala and the comeback in El Salvador, this is an obvious bump in the road.

ive never been impressed with him yet and wasnt excited for his hire. i was angry with arena's performance in 2006 WC, but trying to get a new guy in by hiring a guy who was Arena's assistant for years and coaches the same way makes 0 sense.

there will be a new coach after the next world cup, cause if we get in, were going out in the first round playing like this...i can only pray we get an overseas manager.

We're definitely at a crossroads because we have the young core talent - Jozy (who has looked pretty good tonight considering he hasn't played a game since April 1), Bradley, Torres, Edu, Adu (wonder if he'll see some minutes tonight) - with players that should be in their prime - Howard, Dempsey, Donovan, etc.

Now would be the perfect time to bring in an outsider like Guus Hiddink who can take us to the next level... too bad that will only happen in dream land.

I don't think we have gone down hill. Portugal just happened to have a bad day against us and gave up a goal against Korea that sent us through to the knockout round.

^portugal didnt have a bad game. we just came out that day like costa rica is coming out today. i dont know why we cant constantly play like that. and south korea scored on everyone. its not like they were a fluke. they made the semifinals right?

i am confident we would be good under him. we have plenty of talent. we just dont have a manager who fully knows how to coach internationally. arena was close, but seemed to lose the momentum he built up with landon and company

yeah my god. thats been my pet peeve with our managers for the US. what game are they watching out there?? beasley has been the worst player on the pitch by far.

and bradley will miss the game against honduras, he hasnt done shit this game or even lately if im remembering right, so prob not a huge loss

im on business and watching in my hotel room...but my oh my

what was the point of listing it as a 4-3-3? we didn't play that way, i dont think we even got a legit shot on goal...defense is pretty lackluster

and i do wish we had players like wynalda and harkes who seem like they cared no matter what and had pride in being a usa player.

i'm really tired of no-show donovan...we talk him up like he's a great player, blah blah blah

but he never comes to play in "big" or even "semi-big" games...actually, nobody really comes to play

JP: "that was well done by everybody"

on that set piece. that was poorly executed but a great shot. so it was a good shot from an obvious source as he was the last guy there....sometimes i cant stand JP

at worse we will play the fifth placed conmebol team to get in? im not sure about that. but we would lose that for sure since its a high pressure matchup.

but we could easily not qualify if we fuck around.

We should be able to qualify in the top 3. So far our one bad game was at El Salvador. Tonight and at Mexico were expected losses. We should win all of our home games and at T&T and be fine. What would screw things up would be if Honduras would win at Mexico, win at USA, or get points at both. Winning on the road seems to be hard for everyone, so I am sure the other contenders will suffer some ties and losses.

Yeah, now that I really digest what happened last night... we looked really really good and were just unlucky to get completely dominated in effort, possession, intensity, and on the scoreboard. And we were "expected to lose" anyways so I think we have absolutely nothing to worry about.

we did look pretty bad. My only consolation, is that, as most of you know, coming into that game I think we were 0-6-1 playing away at Costa Rica in world cup qualifying games, and 5-1-1 playing Costa Rica in the US in world cup qualifying games. still doesnt explain how poor our showing was though.

i'm tossing USA Soccer in the same bin as the Charlotte Bobcats

there is not one player on that team who puts the team ahead of themselves. that's USA's problem. it's always been a selfish "me first" team. sure players like Gooch and Deuce are talented, but when their inflated heads are so far up their own asses you're not going to beat anyone.

you are going to tie Jamaica's B-team. you are going to get crushed by Costa Rica.

they are a disgrace.

The defending on the first two goals was straight amateur. Unbelievably poor effort and position. The first one especially-- two guys half heartedly stab at a mediocre ball handler as he splits them.

Also, and I know this has been stated before, but why does Beasley have the most National team minutes in World Cup Qualifying? The guy has a stone first touch, gets knocked down like a woman and frankly isn't even all that fast anymore.

^ I found this pretty good post on another message board that sums it up pretty well. Arena/Bradley both look at it like.. if you've ever produced for me, I'll play you no matter what the circumstances, like it's some kind of seniority right

Quote :
"Bradley, to a lesser degree, is continuing with Arena's approach where the national team is viewed as some form of reward without a careful evaluation of fitness and form. It's a college-like approach to running a team and it's a path to painfully slow progress at this level.

What's odd to me with Bradley is that he felt a mid-week, short-camp road qualifier against Costa Rica was a good time to roll out a new formation, to continue a DMB experiment even though it's been a couple of months since Beasley saw a competitive pitch, and to then pull the only midfielder who looked comfortable on the ball at the break. Bob had a stunningly bad night.

But what's truly troubling is the lack of heart issue. At times, this seems clear as if this team doesn't particularly care to play for Bob. But they also don't hate him enough to play with anger and spite. Hejduk seems to be the only player who can go out there and egg this squad into playing with some fire. That's on Bob, but the team, and every member of it, has to accept responsibility as well.

Still, the reality is that Bob is our coach through South Africa unless the players decide to revolt this summer. The window of opportunity for a change is starting to close. My guess is there are some painful conversations going on this morning at every level as our performance in road qualifiers is giving little reason to believe we're on the right path...... "

I mean just look at the squad he picked - Kljestan, Adu, Beasley, Feilhaber?!?, Mastroeni, and even fucking Jozy (but his inclusion is warranted because this kid has actually produced on more than one occasion for the national team) - these guys are in horrible form and some haven't played a meaningful game in months

I know we looked bad, but my point was that Costa Rica and Mexico never lose at home, so losing there is nothing new, but El Salvador isn't as good and we really needed to win that one.
