^ The staff there is awesome. They knew full well we had no intention of buying anything and just wanted to oogle. So one of their salesmen walked us around for an hour, just talking about all the stuff they had - they have a Porshe showroom, an Aston showroom, a few Lambo Murc., several Lambo Gall., and a whole bunch of F430s in their garage, which was the nicest auto maintenance facility I have ever seen.

There was also a BMW Alpina, a few Scaglettis, and too many more to remember. We probably laid our eyes on $1 billion in cars that day.

"Ferrari Enzo" is what is incorrect.

The name of the vehicle is the "Enzo Ferrari."

The words are backwards.

The full name of that car is given by company company-founder, hence, it is "Ferrari Enzo Ferrari".

If you skip the company name, it becomes "Enzo Ferrari", which is the actual name of that model.

(just like Ferrari F430, or just F430)

It is not that the company name is written at the end, but that the "Ferrari" at the end refers to the founder, not the company name, and is thus part of the model's name.

Some people drop the "Ferrari" at the end and it becomes just "Enzo". If you then add the company name at the front, it becomes "Ferrari Enzo", which is not incorrect, but incomplete. It would be akin to saying, for example, Ferrari 430 or Ferrai 599.

^ Fully understand, I agree 99% of the time, and you may be right.

But I seem to remember reading something about how the Enzo was "unique" in that it bucks the very convention you just described (that article was knocking the naming of the Enzo, IIRC).

Based on production numbers? I don't suppose it remotely qualifies as rare (~61,000 928 models produced over a 17-year production run, ~16,000 of which were 1987-1991 S4 models). But in its day, the 928 was an exceptional car...an early S4 set the record at the time for world's fastest production car, 172 MPH in late 1986...the S4's cost well over $70k 20 years ago, which would be well over $100k now...is it just a rarity thing?

Though I suppose "exotic" means something different to everyone based on how often similar debates have occurred in this thread.

You guys should take a trip to Tokyo. In one day, I saw more supercars and exotics than I have seen in my life. A cheap car for a Tokyo businessman is a Nissan GT-R. I saw every single AMG Mercedes built in the last 5 years, multiple Ferrari's parked beside each other and down one street they have every single exotic car dealer you can imagine. They even had a Alpina dealership. Note: the R34 Nissan GTR does not exist unless they were all imported to the USA after 2 Fast 2 Furious. I never saw one in Japan. I saw multiple R32, R33, and R35 GTRs, but not a single R34.

Has anyone seen an E39 BMW M5? I am in search of one, especially in the color Le Mans Blue.

there is a maroon M5 that parks in the driveway of the large white house on lassiter mill across from north hills mall. it's there most afternoons.

I like super sedans. I know they are not considered exotics and they make >10,000 of them per year.
The CLS is the sexiest car I have ever seen. If only Mercedes made a CLS65 with the Twin Turbo V12. Fortunately for the low, low price of $250k you can get Brabus to beef up you CLS with a 700hp 6.2L V12.

Audi R8, red in color heading northbound on Lake Wheeler Rd just south of Tryon on Monday evening around 6:15-6:20... that makes the second one I've seen, outside of the silver one that has a load of spottings around here.

Except that what you saw is not one. If the CLS 65 AMG existed, you could post about it here, but not the CLS 63 AMG, and DEFINITELY not the CLS 550. I love the CLS too, but the CLS 550 is neither exotic, nor a super-sedan.

You are talking about the Brabus Rocket, a CLS modded by Brabus. You got the power and engine size slightly wrong, and the price all wrong. 6.3 litres (TT V12), 730 hp, and 348,000 Euros, which makes $500k. And 812 lb-ft, available from 2,100 rpm! It is the world's fastest sedan, having been clocked at 227 mph. It is amazing to see one in real life (I did last month). Even more amazing is the Brabus Bullit ( http://www.autoblog.com/photos/brabus-bullit-black-arrow/ ), which is the C-Class with that same engine... which looks even more amazing, especially in matte black (also saw it). I bet it can go faster, but they haven't tried a run yet. The back passengers have an amazing view (see last pic in the linked gallery). Needless to say, you can get the S, SL, and CL-classes with the same engine.

How about

SLR
SL 65 AMG
Z8?

And what about the Audi R8?

Are you supposed to round up to to 6.3L when displacement is 6,233CC? I know that some places round up to the next .1L.

I consider imported cars than have >350hp and a top speed >170mph a supercar. The CLS550 will go 180mph. The top speed is just restricted by Mercedes ECU to 155mph, like all of their cars. To get the top speed out of the CLS63, you have to buy an ECU tune from Mercedes when you get the car to change the restriction to 186mph, which is still probably not the top speed of the car. I assume they are running a higher gear ratio in the CLS63 that would put its top speed around 200+mph.

I didn't realize that the Brabus Rocket was 348,000 Euro.

In terms of performance, yes, it can if you mean half the weight, and not half the power... In terms of luxury... haha, gl selling me on the idea that half a car is more luxurious than say a Veyron or RR.

Anyways, this is way off topic. Fix it T-dub

rarity pretty much determines what's exotic or not

combined with performance

if i see 30 of them a day, pretty much does not qualify, unless you live in boca raton or miami or some shit

Hm. There's a 2009 Audi R8 F/s at Motorcar Investments... Supposedly has 125 miles on it, but is new. (makes me think it's being driven around town a little). Maybe it's the same R8 we see driven around town? Just a thought. Surely there aren't 2 white R8's runnin around Raleigh... but I could be wrong.
