I love Kobe, my dog is named Kobe, but lets not kid ourselves.
Michael Jordan is a 6 time champion, 5 time MVP, 14 time all star, 9 time defensive first team, rookie of the year, 2 time olympic champion, 10 time NBA leading scorer averaged 30.1 ppg , 6.2 rpg, and 5.3 apg.
Kober Bryant is a 3 time champion, 1 time mvp, 10 time all star, 8 time defensive first team, 1 time olympic champion, 2 time NBA leading scorer averages 25.0 ppg, 5.3 rpg, and 4.6 apg
Kobe is my favorite player, but he isn't as good as Jordan. Fuck UNC

Id definitely say Kobe is the best playing today (defense and shooting are so far above James) but all time? Im not sure anyone seriously thinks that 11/17/2008 1:42:13 AM |

I must admit -- watching clips of jordan in his pro days makes you remember how ridiculous he was. I think kobe is better, though he doesn't have the hardware to show it. 11/17/2008 2:04:01 AM |

Kobe is better shooter, better defender, better fundamental skills than James. His shooting strokes, dunks, and finishes at rims I like it better than James. but statistically James is better. His forms doesn't look hot at all. He tries to overpower too much other than using skills. 11/17/2008 8:04:36 AM |

Kobe will go down as one of the best guards to ever play the game.
Kobe will probably be the second greatest guard of all time. (jordan)
next 3 years he will pass the torch to lebron 11/17/2008 9:54:16 AM |

I love the NBA, I have the league pass
it is one of the coolest things when i get off work everyday, i can come home and watch any game i want.
I get to see Kobe, Lebron, Garnett, CP3, Amare, D-wade, D-howard, A.I. almost every night.
There is always at least one game that goes down to the wire.
If you dont watch the NBA, you are missing out on one of the great times in NBA history, with Kobe and Lebron, Celtics and Lakers 11/17/2008 10:03:47 AM |

Yeah, those people shut the fuck up after MJ led the Bulls to 3 straight championships. Then they really shut up after he came back and won 3 more.
Jordan never shit the bed in the NBA finals. Kobe has done it twice (Celtics and Pistons).

rebounds aside (since wilt averaged 22.9 for his career) why do so many think he is better than Jordan?
Less championships, less MVPs, same career ppg as Jordan, and he played against little white guys through his early career. 11/17/2008 9:58:59 PM |

Alright, who's the biggest jerk of the "best ever"? I'd say it's a toss-up between MJ and Kobe.
Lebron loses that, hands down. Not only does he come across as cool guy, he's still real young, and not bad. Not bad at all.
How much does the # of rings really matter in determining the "best [player] ever"?

Wilt scored 100 points in a single game...nobody else has even come close to that...I personally said Bill Russell since he won 11 TITLES IN 13 YEARS...Jordan's not fucking with that11/18/2008 12:22:03 AM |

When Russell played, all of the stars played on the celtics. Their bench players are in the hall of fame
I am sure Kobe could win 11 titles in 13 years if the lakers starting five were:
PG- Chris Paul SG- Kobe SF- Lebron PF- Kevin Garnett C- Dwight Howard
Bench:
PG- Deron Williams SG- Dwyane Wade SF- Carmelo PF- Amare C- Shaq
the game is so much different and so much more competitive than it was in the 60s 11/18/2008 11:35:10 AM |

oh man I'm sure Kobe would get shut down by defenders like Craig Ehlo and Eddie Johnson
^quit hatin...just cause russell has more rings than jordan could ever dream of doesnt mean you have to hate on a true baller

When Kobe leads his team to 1 title then you can start this thread. Since he can't win w/o the best player in the league on his team (Shaq), what's the point?
When the Lakers trade for Lebron then Kobe might win another. 11/18/2008 1:43:39 PM |

Kobe led his team to the title in 02 (Shaq led them in 00 and 01)
hey remember when Jordan retired (temporarily) and Scottie Pippen led the Bulls to 60 wins? I guess the Bulls had a little more help for Jordan than anyone wants to admit 11/18/2008 1:51:39 PM |

they lost but my point is with pippen, who many jordan fans like to treat as just an average player, the bulls were still probably the best team in the east, but houston had olajuwon and drexler clicking at that time
its not like jordan had no help for his titles, and its not like he was able to get past detroit until about 6-7 years into the league

Which is why Kobe won the finals MVP in 02 right? Oh wait....
And after Shaq won Kobe's 3rd ring for him and left the Lakers, how many has Kobe won? Shaq won another. Hmmm.
Kobe would be the best if those damn facts wouldn't keep getting in the way.11/18/2008 2:15:03 PM |

Nope
They wouldn't have.
Nobody can win the title as the only star in the NBA. Not even Jordan.
It just doesn't happen.

lol, tree how many years have you and i been arguing about this. Give me the best 10 players of the 90s vs the best 10 now. 90s> 00s.
but at least they are closer than the 50s and 60s....come on 11/18/2008 4:05:51 PM |
TreeTwista10 minisoldr 148436 Posts user info edit post |
80s/90s is definitely closer to 00s than the 50s/60s but there are also different rules, styles of play, etc...while i'll grant you the top 10 players of jordan's era are better than the top 10 players of today, its not any kind of blowout...guys like Kobe, Lebron, KG, Duncan, etc could play and play very well in Jordan's era
one thing that IS harder nowadays and is better than Jordan's era is the athleticism...Jordan was far and away the best athlete of his era...now you've got Vinces and T-Macs and Kobes and Lebrons who are all just as ATHLETIC as Jordan (Lebron is probably more athletic...definitely stronger)
and yeah we've been arguing for this since the 50s/60s] 11/18/2008 4:37:55 PM |
