I forgot about it until I was flipping through and saw it on. from the 5 mins I watched it was pretty good and got a few laughs out of it. Also it ends with clips from his standup. he is a funny guy.

Pretty funny. I like this format way better than the HBO show. That one was like a weird depressing sitcom. This one is more like sketch comedy about his life.

That show that was on HBO was beyond fail. I tried to give it a chance, but it was simply terrible. I was surprised to see FX trying to bring back something similar.

You apparently are not familiar with either the stand up act of Bob Saget or his hit tv show Full House

That guy made a ridiculous amount of money doing a show that was as far from his stand-up act as you could possibly imagine.

His old show may have failed b/c of the market he was in before. the thing with premium channels is that you can get away with stuff sure, but you don't get as broad of an audience. So if that relatively small audience doesn't latch on to the show, it's gonna fail. I don't know that Always Sunny in Philadelphia would have had 5-6 seasons on HBO or Showtime. But it's been fairly successful on FX.

And FX is pretty edgy compared to other stuff. I don't think it would have to be quite as far removed from his stand up act as you seem to think. He may not be talking about sucking bags of dicks... but there's a lot of other stuff that would fly just fine. And he he's done a lot material that's not really raunchy at all. you take out some "fucks" and it still works.

good show. the situational humor can be subtle, but the stand-up bits are pretty hard hitting. hopefully it doesn't get canned.

the opening poker scene about gay sex was great

Just watched the pilot and the only funny part was the schoolbus part and the driver.

Hopefully it gets much better, or my opinion of the people in this thread's taste will be shot.
