So, I just returned to this game after a couple months of having not touched it at all...

Holy crap did the world-building system improve. I mean, I knew about biomes, and it's pretty cool to have a snow area a short walk from my spawn and a desert across a lake, but even more than that (and maybe it's just random luck for this particular world), just about every place I go looks like the "promised land" from that one RPS guy's Mine the Gap series. There's a much better balance to the world, it seems like... The whole variety of resources all in one place.

Just played around after a few weeks of not being in the server. Props on the subways. They're awesome.

I did notice that after about 20-30 minutes of playing it will just crash and black screen. It's weird. I can't figure out what's doing it. It didn't used to happen.

New hardware is running. Got a test map up on it for the time being. Everyone should try to crash it.

Once I get everything switched over we can use it for a month or so and see how it performs.

Sorry for the delay. I've been battling with Python imaging dependencies for the past hour and half.


Rendering the map now. After that I just have to set up cron jobs and do a little testing, and we should be set!

I'm too lazy to set up a new DNS server, and I'm trying to reduce anything that will hog system resources.

Server is back up. I think mobs are causing memory leaks. The good news is the server did what it was supposed to and just slowed down, it didn't actually crash the box.

I'll work on some tweaking and set restarts to 2 hours instead of 3. If it comes down to it I can upgrade the box for more RAM. Just mo' money. :|

ok the image is huge but i tried to get it available, it's directions to make a mob grinder, where mobs spawn near streams that take them to a lava stream where they are killed and their dropped items continue to you without having to fight.

That was weird. Creeper just killed me. That part is odd because I had just jumped about thirty stories straight down with no damage, as well as fighting a lot of other mobs with no damage whatsoever.

What really pisses me off is that I was confident in my invulnerability and so I had some of my nicer items on hand -- right before the server went to shit. Oh well, price of progress I guess.

Yep beta is out. I can play this one of two ways.

I can either leave the server offline until the admin mod is updated, OR I can put a new map up until then so people can play around.


I'm also planning on throwing a donation link up once we have the server and mods running with most of the lag problems fixed. If I can get $30 a month from everyone collectively, I'll upgrade the server box to help smooth things out. ALL money donated will go directly to the server costs. I'm trying to think of some incentives to give to people who donate. Nothing major or unfair to poor folks, but useful.

actually i started building a mob trap last night and left it running overnight to collect lootz.

I say we all just wait until the server's updated. It's close to christmas and I'm sure we all have other things we can do over the next few days.
