40 combined panther TDs this season.

I was begging Clausen to just make an attempt at a miraculous play last season. He wouldn't even try and it was terrifying.

Cam is a likable guy. It should definitely be exciting. I look forward to the preseason games just for times like this. Excellent idea by Chudnuski/zinski to bring in Shockey and Olsen. I think Ron Rivera is great as well.

I think Chud's offense is perfect for Cam. If Chud can make it work for one big-armed, inaccurate QB who can't make it through more than 2 reads, then he can do the same for another.

Cam doesn't need a spread attack. He needs a run-first, vertical offense like Chud employs.

i may be in the minority, but i feel that coach Chud's offense is being tailored to the skills of an athletic QB like Newton

he will be starting at some point this season, and he will have opportunities to showcase his skills

everyone knows he is the future, not Clausen, and certainly not Anderson

#1) water is wet.

#2) water is still wet and he's starting week 1.

Cam Newton on the playbook he had during the lockout vs. his current one: "Dr. Seuss compared to doggone Shakespeare"

^^Good read on Cam, and great analogy. Pretty interesting:

Quote :
"The Panthers are putting in 30 new passing plays and 15 running plays a day. That means Newton taking those plays home at night and studying just to get a head start on the next day. "

I watched Cam a lot last year, and I agree wholeheatedly with this:

Quote :
"He made some nice throws, and some horrible ones. But you get so mesmerized by the pretty ones that the ugly ones don't seem as bad. "

i like Norwood at DE

i don't like Brown getting beaten out, looks like a wasted pick. hopefully Hurney learned his lesson on trading away future first round picks for a second round player. and trading away future second round picks for a third round player who would have been available in later rounds.

^^^agreed on Brown. Very interested to see how much pressure Greg Hardy puts on the other D-linemen after a few highlights in his rookie year

Well according to charlotte observer, davis missed practice today to have his foot examined. sure would be nice for that to be something minor

Lets try to end this thread at 2000 posts even. Someone will inevitably fuck it up, but we can at least try.

I'm putting together the OFFICIAL preseason thread as we speak. Or as you read this, if you're reading it in the next few minutes or so.

should have signed the ex-Giant Steve Smith. Couldn't hurt having 2 Steve Smiths on the team.

wonder if Rivera/Chud etc would refer to them as "89" and "##", or Smitty and Steve, or wtf

I'd just give the former Giant an unrelated nickname and let the real Steve Smith get everything else Steve, Smith, Smitty, etc related

Lots of rumors floating around that the Panthers are interested in trading for Bills receiver Lee Evans. Not sure what would be fair compensation or what is even the asking price

If it's a late round pick, I'd say go for it. Evans is probably the streakiest WR I've ever seen (at least in terms of fantasy football), but he's still a great deep threat.

^ Doesn't have the best enunciating skills (due to his lisp too), but I like his personality and what he actually says.

Sad to hear about Gettis. It begins.....
