I had like 8 shrimp nigiri and 4 smoked salmon nigiri last night for dinner. My stomach is wrecked . My guess is they were clearing old stock for the weekend or something, but that was just not friendly.

tried Tasu's yesterday for the first time (Had been there 3 times prior, but never gotten the sushi)


I liked it! california roll was a california roll, but the avacado and crab meat just tasted better for some reason, and the 4 pieces of nigiri I had were awesome. And the ginger salad and hot and sour soup were on point again. All that and a soda and egg roll cost only 10 bucks too at lunch! helluva deal. nom nom

Where should I go for sushi for my birthday?

Sushi birthday spots in the past have been Sono (good but too expensive for what it is--lots of cream cheese), Waraji (super awesome but expensive!) and I'm looking for some other great ones. Even though I'm a big nigiri fan I kind of want more specialty rolls this time, without it just being a cream cheese and mayo onslaught.

Suggestions?

^^I think Sushi Blues is always a good choice. And they have a pretty large menu with a lot of good selections. I saw sushi in the grocery store yesterday and have been craving it ever since.

I go to Sushi Thai a lot--they've improved ten-fold in the last three years, and the sushi is affordable, but it's not at the level of indulgence that I'm looking for.

Sushi Blues I am not a fan of, though.

I've been to three different sushi restaurants in the past week ...

Matsuhisa in Aspen
Takah in Aspen
Seito in Baldwin Park in Orlando

All have had uni on the menu ... but all restaurants say they haven't had uni supplied to the restaurant in months.

Is there an uni (sea urchin) shortage?

I'm bummed. Uni with quail egg is sooooo delicious. And I can't get it anywhere.
